  1. If you had some scarab front fenders then it would be really easy to dump the air out the side. I want to try this on my Z but do I have the guts to cut my fenders...probably...they are trashed anyway. Maybe I will make a large tube to go from the inner fender to the outer fender rather than dumping it in the wheelwell where it will go back under the car.
  2. haha...with carbs I may have enough room to do that around the distributor...one reverse cowl on each side. I am planning on doing that airdam seal this weekend.
  3. should be making an update tonight. I have my last finals for my composition and rehtoric, interpersonal relations, and my last welding course on this coming Thursday. Once that is done then I will be working on my Z a lot more. I want to improve some areodynamics stuff this summer so that should not be too hard. Maybe drop in that 82-83 BW 5 speed tranny. Maybe a Dakota Digital guage cluster as well.
  4. that is the only thing that I don't like about the doors...they are really flat. Look at teh doors on that car!!! they are round like an E-type. I like the fenders without a lip and just turning under. I was thinking of doing something like those fog lights on a Z...except with Bimmer headlights. it would help fill in the first gen's huge mouth. I'm not really liking those rear turn signal bulges though.
  5. In my L26 that I have it HAS to be higher than 8.5:1. The previous owner told me that "internal work" had been done to the engine. I have had thoughts of doing a rear mounted turbo and sealing it up good but I think my compression is quite a bit higher than stock. I also have the E88 head but I think it is shaved a bit. I would think that with a stock head it would be fine to push less than 10 pounds on a car you don't drive much. I drive my Z about 100-150 miles a wek so it has to be reliable. I am searching now for a 280zxt and just swap everything over and do some sort of EMS and a holset hy35w... but that is down the road. I am probably going to get the electromotive distributerless ignition this summer so that I can use it on my L26 and someday on a L28et motor. I am sick of this crappy distributor. I think it is a great idea for a stock L26 to go turbo rather than doing a ton of head work to get the same power. Good Luck! just get a small turbo and mount it at the back of a regular N/A header from MSA or wherever and use low boost.
  6. the only thing about diverting it out the side is you don't bvenefit from downforce. If you had it on top of the fender that would be better IMO. I have been thinking about having a venting system diverting air from the front mouth into the fender and having an air tunnel along the top of teh spacious fender to house an oil cooler or even mount 2 small radiators, 1 on each side of the car, under the fenders and sealing the most of the front of the car off.
  7. Great minds think alike...Just how to make it look good rather than having a motor coming out of a mountain of aluminium will be difficult...
  8. yeah I am going to be cutting out several sections and replacing it with plexiglass. I have been thinking about getting a box fan and building a very small box that the car would sit in. Definitely windows are the plan. I haven't even worked on it today.
  9. so that means a closed circular wind system...I am on the grassroots kind of tunnel...I'll test it with what I already have...I don't have any air compressor anyway...
  10. indeed...but I am not NASA...I guess I'll just get the fastest fan that I can find...
  11. hmmm...well it is sort of hard to make 20 atmospheres...that would be...pulling out calculator...294 psi...It is still hard to believe.
  12. I have been thinking about it...it can't be inversely proportional...the scale weight of a 2500lb Z at 1/25 scale is the cube root of the weight. That is .16 pounds...now how is that supposed to stay in place in 2500mph winds??? it only makes sense that if you want to make a scale 100lb of lift on a stock bodied 240Z that would be the cube root of 100 pounds...that would be .0016 pounds of lift on a 240Z...
  13. rg...time to pull out the leaf blower. I don't know what would provide enough smoke for that though. I have some of the orange stuff but house rules say none of my toxic fumes in the house...and this is happening on the kitchen table... The fender lips seem to be about 3 times larger than stock but that seems about it for exagerating stuff.
  14. I have thought something similar for the suspension height (can't think of a word) tester? evaluater?. Since I know my spring rate within 2% of the stated value all I would need to know is how far the spring is compressed. You could use a device that would work similar to a gas tank sender out of a first gen...Resistance based.
  15. well I was right...maybe even more if you polish it...
  16. yeah I saw that and considered that path. Too messy and not portable enough. Plus my tube is cardboard. My younger brother is watching Predator so I am trying to ignore it.
  17. gluing the parts together using the tunnel to dry the parts...and the viper. I have been able to see the difference in wind speed around the viper using my little air speed tool. I think we have some incense here so I'll se if I can get hold of some.
  18. lol...crazy ebayers...Take some sandpaper and polish that manifold!!! it is so easy to do and then just use some mothers aluminium polish...I am seeing $175-200 on that manifold.
  19. yeah...they have it at the citgo gas station that is owned by some indians...not native americans...indian indians...just not to confuse...
  20. this version of the tunnel is just for preliminary testing plus I already had this size model. I may get a 12" tube for larger models and use a regular box fan.
  21. speed in feet/minute. just before setting it up stable. I got upwards of 400 fpm once the car was in there. a piece of aluminium .025 thick that I got at home depot for like $7...rip off!!! I am building the model now. The fan is going in this pic.
  22. yes exactly. Except I am using a 1/25 scale model. My $12 fan gives about 4.2 mph which is 105.9 mph at scale speed on the low fan speed. On high I get like 139 scale mph.
  23. I had thought of one of those but my buget is still very small...just dropped a huge wad into my Z and can't afford a fog generator. Maybe I can borrow my friend's fog generator.
