  1. "1000 pounds, 9 inch tusks, 12 feet long" killed in southern GA...
  2. yep...I think it was at classiczcars.com that the thread about chevette springs came up. They were basically the same size except stiffer.
  3. ok...well you can get some spring rubbers and put them in-between the coils to stiffen them up. don't get the lowering/lifting coil shackles...I did and they are low quality and the threads strip easily. You can get different spring rubbers from auto parts stores.
  4. If I had the $$ I would have one for ZdayZ too...
  5. I have been thinking that if you are going to all this effort to seal the bottom of the car why not continue the same piece out into the front fenders only except for where the tires and suspension pieces are. Yesterday I stopped and talked to this guy with a 76' 280 at an eckerds pharmacy and he had the little splash guard but it was pretty rusty. In fact his whole car was rusty and beat up but he had some nice pieces.
  6. how much are you willing to spend on suspension? for about 800-900 you can do coilovers and illuminas so you can change ride height and stiffness really easily. Plus the 2.5 id springs are really cheap and readily available in almost any spring rate. I am using 10 in. long springs front and rear. 225lb/in on the front and 250lb/in on the rear and it rides really nice. the stiffness is just a little less than my dad's rock hard 944t. Mine is a lot more survivable than his crazy stiff rear bilsteins. I haven't done camber plates yet but I have done polyurethane bushings and they really help a lot.
  7. yep...I packed it before assembly and then squeezed grease into it until it came out all of the ends...I guess for a $10 U-joint you get what you pay for...
  8. arg...one of my driveshaft U-joints is wobbly!!! I just replaced all of the U-joints like 2000 miles ago!!! I guess I'll have to cough up and get the spicers...
  9. he means non-boosted brakes. You probably only have to make a spacer to go from the firewall to the MC with a rod in the middle. Or you could just gut the inside of the booster.
  10. if he still has welders welding on galvanized then call up OSHA's hotline and they should be there in like 24 hours or less to inspect. I have heard of OSHA being threre on the same day.
  11. stainless...look at the color of the metal and the heat discoloration. Thhe welder did a good job to not overheat the stainless. welds hurt flow though...if you can get one that is just tube with few welds it will flow better...not like it will make THAT much of a difference.
  12. you could have called them up...I would have refused to weld on galvanized...I would have quit first or called OSHA in...they have a hotline number you can call anonomously(sp?)... I welded on that bike while holding my breath and very good ventalation
  13. have you tried welding chromium steel with TIG??? I have... fumes and the welds won't hold...it is called raking out a BMX mongoose neck...lol don't ask...we weren't trying to make a lowrider bike...I promise. And it did not have a truck bed liner paint job...I know this for a fact...lol
  14. chances are it is some chromium/pig iron that you can't weld...
  15. hmm...interesting idea...what kind of metal is the mirror arm made of? I would think it is steel which would make it easy...or you could just make a mount onto a regular mirror. I think that would not be as steady though. My method seems pretty steady. I just want to make a permanent mount where it mounts the camera right-side-up. no longer the slowest Z ever produced...BWAHAHAHAHAHA well actually the late 74 would be the slowest...I should say "no longer the next to slowest Z ever produced"...
  16. oh yeah...I just crammed that LCD screen mount in behind the slot above the mirror that the headliner goes into...and then shimmed it up to be solid...well just crammed a piece of plastic behind it...lol Thanks...my camera is an exelim ex-s500 5 megapixel camera. it is one of those that is the size of a credit card and .5 inches thick. the first 15 seconds are on 5 cylinders...for some reason it takes a while before that last piston kicks in...sorta worried about that...it sounds rough like that in the beginning for a little bit until it gets good and warm.
  17. lol...you don't want to know how I mounted the camera... here I go anyway...I found this little 3.5" LCD screen monitor mount and took the screen off of the threaded bolt and put the camera on. The video is actually upside down so I had to mirror it horizontally and vertically to get it right. Then I seriously downgraded it to web quality.
  18. if you insist... Video Hosting - Upload Video - Photo Sharing nothing crazy...and not jamming gears to keep the clutch nice...that little thing called break-in...
  19. bleh...y'allare making this too complicated...I fixed mine really simply. just top off the blinker fluid...easy fix...it is to the left of your clutch master cylinder...
  20. check this thread...: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=109769&highlight=lightened+cut+door
  21. umm...I thought that Nissan restored Zs only sold in the mid 20s...how can a performance street Z sell for that much? it's not even that great...for 35k...maybe 10 or 12...
  22. looking at some of the older pics it looks as if I lowered the rear of the car about 3/4". I lowered the front about 1.5" from it's really high position. I turned the rear illuminas to 3 and the fronts to 4 and that was really nice. You would think that is how the car was supposed to be in the first place. I am really satisfied with the suspension for now. just need new balljoints. Something I did completely eleminated the wobble I had in the steering wheel. Maybe because I put a differently balanced wheel on the front this time.
  23. well the drivers front fender is mostly rust on the bottom side...I just had the new tires hitting them bad so I just hammered them...lol I am doing the video now...
  24. just imagine it without the gnose...that would look pretty good. I think it slopes down too much in the front and the front wheel wells come really low. I betcha it has a low drag coefficient though...
  25. no it wasn't 32 ounces!!! it was one of those McDonalds full size 64 oz jugs filled with their cheap coffee!!!
