  1. haha..I wonder if the motor siezed when it flipped or after...look at the valve covers...rust holes...lol
  2. sweet! I have not seeen much about the vg30et motors but I guess that is because they are from an early 300zx...the local Z junkyard has a totaled early 300zx with that motor in it but it has not had a hood for years. Otherwise I may have gotten it. I want to swap a turbo motor in the next few years in a summer between semesters...I don't think I can get too much more power out of my L26 without spending too much $$$$ to make it a 2.9 or whatever...a zxt swap would be very nice... I am about to make my own side vents in my fenders and fab some new air ducts at the rear of the engine bay to go out the side of the car. Thinking about putting my battery inside the car right above the tranny next to the firewall. I just cut out an aluminium splitter for my car and need to install it and your car and 240hoke's were the main inspiration for doing areo stuff.
  3. If you have a strong stock-sized clutch it will work but my N/A z killed the previous stock clutch after 20k miles. I got it tuned right and then it started slipping the clutch instead of the tires. I now have a 225mm spec stage 2+ made for like 265hp and I have around 190-200hp. I bought it thinking I may go with a mild turbo setup on my L26. A stock clutch would hold up until the first time you drop the clutch at high(er) rpms and it will just spin. So go with the bigger 240mm flywheel/clutch or get an expensive 225mm one...
  4. wow...170hp in a 1.3!!! I saw that body style alfa romeo in a book somewhere when I was like 12 and was never able to find out what it was...until now...I really like the body style on that car.
  5. I have a question about your "garden rite" lower air dam. Is the lower lip that is rounded hollow? if it is I would think you could take a piece of 1/4" steel roundbar and bend it bare handed and it would keep the shape of the rubber and would still be flexible enough when you hit a curb during parking or other small object. I have like 40 feet of 1/4" steel roundbar and 20 feet of 1/8" x 1/2" steel that I am going to use for making mounting tabs. All 60' of that was like $15 from a Integris metals.
  6. I was thinking it was one of the MSA cams and wanted to check if it was one of the cams that has lobes burn off but the lobes all seem fine. One of the lobes has the swipe go right to the edge of the lobe though. time to get a better cam. How would I measure the cam? I have seen the way of using some sort of micrometer but I don't have one. Maybe time to do a zxt swap...
  7. hmm...guessing it is a regrind because with the way it runs there is NO way it could be stock...just look at my videos...Thanks for the info piper. looks like your Z is built good! nice!
  8. The previous owner of my car specifically said that there was a new high performance cam in the engine...I just removed my valve cover and saw this: on the other side it says "Japan" and "B" "B" is inbetween the lobes of cyl #5 "Japan" and "E30" are on opposite sides between cylinders 4 and 5 this is the only thing I could find about a cam with this stamp is: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=108497&highlight=e30+cam but that does not help much since that is on an L20 motor. the head is an E88 with an E46 intake and roundtops. Is this the stock cam, reground(possible), or off another model Z? the cam does not feel that bad. Very little wear.
  9. are you prevented from cutting off your spring perches and adding coilovers? You can source the parts to swap to adjustable coilovers for around $350 and then another $350 for camber plates and then labor if you are having someone else weld it all. I did illuminas and adjustable coilovers but no camber plates yet for around $800 and it is worth every penny. I did all the work myself with the help of a few friends. check my worklog that is linked in my sig to see some pics of my suspension.
  10. bwahaha...I topped out 4th with my 260 and 215/60r14 tires...6000 and the speedo said 145...I am guessing that is closer to 130 but that was crazy...I haven't tested and won't until I go to a race track...smarter now. I may have hit 95...nothing testing it though...
  11. hahha...we have the same amount of posts fastzcars...thought that is funny.
  12. sweet Mull! What sandpapers did you use? Mine have lots of casting imperfections so I had to hit those spots with a little 60 grit. I hit it with 120 and then some 400. I haven't found anything over 400 at any of the local hardware stores so I may have to buy some from summit or some other provider. Did you use any metal polish on it?
  13. cool dude. I am not really a fan of silver but that looks really good! Those wheels look good to!
  14. hmm...I am building a simple aluminium dash...just be sure to measure everything about 7-8 times...it gets tricky...
  15. hi there mike...are you ok or have you worked too much?
  16. imagine picking that thing up! it must weigh as much as a car!
  17. ok. all you need to do is find the right size dies and just build a bigger version of the blind chicken racing bender. about not being able to bend exhaust tubing...how do you think summit and jegs bend their sections of curved exhaust tubing? a mandrel bender...at my welding class that I just graduated from they have a big bender just like the one on monster garage that has two hydraulic rams. it can do up to 2.5 I beileve if not bigger. It was 8 grand though...
  18. 3" for a cage??? are you building a top fuel dragster??? why would you need something that big???? usually benders that big are used for exhaust. those blind chicken racing guys are cool but their bender broke...not reinforced enough. they use that bender a LOT!!! I think mark there is geting a real expensive tube bender...
  19. nah...it shows up as japanese characters on my computer...lol anyway though...
  20. no...it's japenese...I can tell japanese from chinese most of the time...
