Good points there pop. I won't be running AC for one thing, another is that I don't drink. Megasquirt will be there for the engine management, fuel system will figure in there somewhere...fuel cell and GM style sender, pump assembly, guages...undecided now but say $600. The $5k was to pretty much get the drivetrain hooked up with engine/fuel management.

That is a good idea. Is the adjusting speed the same? I would not want a jack that was not adjustable for speed if it was air powered. You see my thing? I guess you could do some sort of air regulator on the jack.

I would tend to like aluminum for body panels. I am going to be doing a lot of custom bodywork soon and will be making an english wheel to form the aluminum. I am for fiberglass but I want something that can be reformed if I wreck the car. Steel is stronger but it rusts and is heavier for the thickness.

that's funny...They had a green 260 at Z car Atlanta and I pulled a gas door and cap but the car was otherwise complete. I tried to get that grey 280zxt but he wanted like $1900 and it was not complete!!!

so just have 4 1 ton jacks upside down and an air bottle on car and...F1 lift!!!!

Before I got my Z I was soo close to getting a saab 9000 turbo...for free. Then a tree got dropped on it.

here is a thread of a guy that is running a LD28ET with 280zx stuff. Most of the members on there seem to want to just get rid of smoke and not build a big monster diesel... I won't be doing this to go in my Z but maybe in a few years I'll build a Z with an LD35ET:twisted: :twisted: At least it sounds fun to be doing a burnout in a turbodiesel Z... Hint... that site is a great place to find a V07 crank for cheap!!!

That is what I was thinking Doc...anyway a stock LS1 is still plenty of power and with a magic stick camshaft and the custom exhaust it would definitely sound mean. It even sounds great with a stock cam!!!

so what was the coolest thing you saw that you could implement on your Z? Not that you could afford the new stuff but if you could (and YOU probably can) what would it be?

I had this idea at back at college before I had my accident of making a turbodiesel L6. Why not? And I finally did a search and someone else has started on a similar project. I think this is more feasable than turning the diesel block into a gas engine. I might be making some front fenders similar to those for my Z but with a slightly different approach.

another view and a few changes...I'm not really liking this one so much. Once I get a nice aerodynamic look then I'll work on doing a final sketch and work from that. I am now working on another sketch that uses a g-nose. I would really like to see some more sketches of other members and some of their designs. I am going to be getting a welder and some metal fab stuff soon and I'll be doing an all steel body on my Z. I don't want to deal with steel and fiberglass or carbon fiber mixed together. I may go to the dark side and make panels out of aluminum for the ultimate in light weight. Since I will be redoing the whole front end anyway I might as well and cut the weight in half while I am at it. V-Z's drawings are mind boggeling and Driftn280zx has some good s130 stuff... I'll do a modern style kit later. I like the classic look and race inspired parts.

I looked at a Versa before getting my truck but it looks like a small minivan to me. The coupe should be much better.

I've heard a couple L28ET cars...there were 2 at ZdayZ. 240 hoke's car and boostmonkey's car. I think both of them had pretty much open exhausts with straight through mufflers...Made me smile but not the pricetag...
