  1. The tires are 245/45/17 they work ok with the speedo but, it is a little off. Here is a link that is very usefull for getting the speedo figured out. The bigger rims did slow the car down some but, hopefully I'll be getting a 3.7 LSD eventually and that should make up most of the diffence. Most it will bring the gear ratios back to the stock ratios.
  2. ratedZ, The rims are an Italian brand called Chromadora 17x7.5. I bought them from a friend and had to use adapters to make them fit. I've been real happy with them. The handling is so much better than it was with the Centerlines 15x7 that was on the car before. Right now I'm tring to get the car inspected but, I don't think the EGR is opening up when it is supposed to.
  3. I've had several ZX's and love them. Don't get me wrong where would we be without the early Z cars. But, honestly if you are going to drive it every day I think the ZX is really the way to go. The extra weight and better ride really go along way when it's the only way you have to get anywhere. I had a '71 for about 6 months in between ZX's and it really just beat the crap out of me every day. My ZX with the same type of suspension mods was much better. If your building an all out race car then the earliest 240 you can find is the way to go for the weight reason. Heres a few pics of my ZX. It's an 82 turbo with a best time so far of 13.9 @ 107. Hope this helps
  4. Hey Pete, Love those mirrors! I've been looking some some J/Y replacements for my ZX but, since there is no window trim it makes it much harder. Did you have a link about your Fan swap? Didn't see it.
  5. Any one have the vaccum diagram for a 82 turbo? I'm trying to get my car inspected but, the EGR valve doesn't seem to want to work right. I've tested it with an outside vaccum source and the valve itself works fine. I can't seem to get the car to open the EGR. Kinda need it to pass the new test here in Texas. Thanks
  6. Actually I'm not exacly how I got there. All I know was I was on here and then on a site about swapping small blocks into everything known to man. Then I saw a fuel injection info link. From there somehow I found it.
  7. I found this the other day and thought I would post it since many of us are looking for good ways to add larger injectors without breaking the bank. I have found many of these injectors in the junk yards for about 6 bucks each. I never knew exactly what they were rated at so never tried any. injector site later,
  8. What clutch are you running? I'm now in the martket for a new clutch since my Centerforce DF is slipping.
  9. Thanks for the nice comment guys. The car is really very stock body wise. The only mods being the rims and the MSA kit. I've got some plans for the body kit that if I can find time and money I'll get started on the summer. Thanks agian
  10. Lookin' good. Hope to hear of some good times at the track.
  11. I've had several cars with slight shimmy for years. This latest one my 82zxt is the car that I've had the longest and started to notice how when I went to different shops the quality was different even thought it was done on the same basic machine. Last summer I replace everything but, the rack and sloved most of my proublems. When I went to have the rims rebalanced just to make sure, the guy put the stick on weights and the typical hammer on. This was the best it has ever been. I instist on the techs doing it this way now. I can't remember what type of balance it is called but, the guys in the shop will know. Also you may have the same condition that my car has right now and thats just that the rack is simply worn out. No matter how much you do it will never be perfect until it gets replaced. As for how hard the inner tie rods are to put on. It very easy if I can do it you can. Later
  12. I found some info on the net a few years ago about using RX-7 studs. They are 52 mm long with 12x1.5 thread. The pressed in part is 12.9m and ours is 12.8 mm. Shouldn't be a big deal putting them in. I bought one at Pepboys the other day for 1.99. It came from a 88 convet. You can look at their book and will tell you the info you need. They had about 3 different brands in the same bin so I just bought one and will look elsewhere for a good brand. The price couldn't be much more if any. The only real drawback is that you would have to buy new lug nuts with them. Hope this helps
  13. I just thought I'd add my .02 here and say that the I'd be happy to get something to replace the the flapper door on my car. Not only is the thing restrictive is just plain ugly. i have no dought that just replacing the AFM w/ a MAS should show some improvment in power just through less restriction alone. Any adjustablilty would be great. One thing I would like to request if we are doing that is to be able to richen the mixture or lean it. This would be great to be done with a knob in the car but, it would be great to have a switch you could just flip to change from gas miser to full blow drag car. That way your not having to mess with the settings while tring to get ready for a race or something. Kinda like juice just hit the switch and go.
  14. A friend of mine put one on his 3G Eclipse and other than some tunning proublem that he had it's pretty cool. What I'm curiuos about is does it realate to how much boost your running? You know what I'm mean 5000 and 10 psi is totally different than 5000 and 14 psi. By the way how do you put a pic under your name? I want to do this but, haven't found out how yet. Later,
  15. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll hold off on the P-90 swap for now. I have bigger fish to fry this summer. Really I'm tring to pick up a few extra ponies without leaning on the motor any more than I already am. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some bigger injectors and an Apexi AFC this summer. I'm also planning some more suspension rebuild and mods this summer so my plates a little full already.
  16. Would I gain anything in swaping to a P90 vs a P90A? What are the pros and cons? Street Driving and occasional racing.
  17. You would definately want the air to sent back into the intake track rather than into the valve cover. I would fashion a "T" out of some piping maybe out of the plumbers section of Home Depot if your cheap. Also if you could a one way valve would be nice.
  18. Be nice James!! Anyway, It won't hurt the turbo at all to get it wet. I would use a ton of Brake cleaner and go to town cleaning it before you install it on your car. A small wire brush might help if the stuff is baked on.
  19. I agree with Tony there are proubly better vaules out there. Like said I bought mine used ao that changed the pricing scale alittle. The core is about half of the size of the one that Tony has in the above pic. I guess the draw to bying the HKS kit is that is is bolt on. Unless you are going to run a huge turbo and 20 psi I think it will do fine.
  20. Heres a pic of my instsll at the current time. I would still like to take the pipes and have them powder coated. Also I would proubly move the intercooler ot alittle so i could install a A/C Condenser fan. No the pipes are not like they come from the factory. I have no idea how they are routed. I have some more but they are not loaded up. I like the kit but, I'm not sure that I would pay full price for it. Also I would want so flow #'s from HKS.
  21. I've got the HKS kit. It's not bad I bought mine from a board member and didn't get any instructions. He said that it has to go under the radiator support and I really didn't like that. Anyway I redid the pipes and Painted them again. The intercooler itself seems to be good with little pressure drop. i would ask to see the instructions before I bought one new.
  22. Your right the bumber cover in the front does not fit perfect. This is the second one that I've had on two different cars and both of them fit like that. I'm sure when the kit was designed it fit better but, I cvan't seem to ever get it to fit perfect. I'm going to have to have it repainted this summer 'cause i hit a curb and I'm going to make any mods necessary to make it right. I do recommend the kit, it easy and looks much better than the stock Bumper covers I think.
  23. Thanks for the great comments Davy. Yes, its the MSA kit. I've always like the ZX better for everyday driving because of the the added weight and overall size. I agree with you a LT-1 or a LS-1 would be nice to have under the hood. I thought about that before going into the turbo stuff but, at the time the turbo parts would be cheaper than trying to stuff a V-8 under the hood. Later
  24. I'm running 2" pipe that was cut up from the HKS kit and rewelded back together. Heres a pic. The smaller pipe will flow less air but, have less lag in the response time. I'm sure there is a formula but, I can't find it right now that will tell you the right pipe size for your HP goals. Lets see if some of the real turbo HP guru's will have it.
