  1. You would have to have been around this site for a while to understand the relationship Mike has with his Kids. Quite a few stories and learning experiences he has shared. !M!
  2. I've seen quite a few dark colored Z cars with the urethane air dam unpainted. I think it looks pretty cool, plus there is no paint to get all nicked up. !M!
  3. Wow, looks great from the pictures! Do you have any shots in the sunlight? Looks mostly black, except for a hint of a nice shade of green here and there. !M!
  4. Mine were the same as yours, they were both facing the same direction. I would think if you flipped the Spring disk around, so the inside diameter of the Spring disk and the inside diameter of the Spring plate were touching, it would wear much faster in that area. Probably not the best idea. My carrier has C9D9 stamped on it. Also, on the other end, it has LOM59 cast into the carrier along with N2 stamped right next to LOM59 Has anyone else taken thier LSD carrier apart? Would be interesting to have at least one more to compare with. !M!
  5. Odd combination in your LSD carrier. All my friction plates, friction disks, spring plates, and spring disks are smooth. Yours seem to have ribs and lines? Here is what I have starting from one side and going to the other. Spring plate - 1.75mm Spring disk - 1.74mm Friction plate - 1.75mm Friction disk - 1.74mm Friction plate - 1.74mm Friction disk - 1.74mm Pressure Ring Side Gear Pinion Shaft with Pinion Gears Side Gear Pressure Ring Friction disk - 1.74mm Friction plate - 1.75mm Friction disk - 1.74mm Friction plate - 1.74mm Spring disk - 1.71mm Spring plate - 1.74mm This gives me a total of 20.88mm which is nowhere near what you have specified at the begining of your post for a 45lb. breakaway LSD. Is mine in need of a rebuild? !M!
  6. This post was made 4 years ago. It's possible somebody might remember. !M!
  7. Wow, great find! I like hearing stories like that. !M!
  8. About a year ago, when I first decided to get 3.54 gears and LSD, I made this post: Click Here It may help you out some. I would like to update that post with pictures, but my digital camera is broken. What year is your R200 out of? !M!
  9. Mike! Mike's the resident "This is life, so deal with it" person, not the politicaly correct, I spilled obviously hot coffee in my lap, so I'm going to sue McDonalds kind of person. !M!
  10. Great idea! Out of curiousity, have you measured the inside height of the Z tank compared to a GN tank? Will the float have full movement up and down like in the tank it was intended for? !M!
  11. You know underneath that terrible paint job, there could be terrible body work making that 240Z a lot worse than your 280Z. Going by what you said, don't trade it. Keep your car and finish it. !M!
  12. I have managed to get one more set out of the material I got for the first run of sleeves. PM me if you would like them. Please do a search for Precision gear in this forum (Drivetrain) to answer your questions. !M!
  13. Well there is that picture of the red S30 with 20's (not photoshopped) on it that SleekZ has. I would post a picture of it, but I don't want to get in trouble for doing so without his permission. It's somwhere on Zparts.com !M!
  14. FT LBS HEAVY W8 VIAGRA V8 (yeah, I know... ) !M!
  15. I like both the Z and the 2000GT, no favorites here. Just remembered seeing a Opel or maybe a 2000GT in the background of an auction on eBay. Here's the link: Click Here !M!
  16. I like those Maserati's. A guy we just finished up a job for has the Maserati Aga Kahn (1 of 2 made) and a Alfa Romeo Montreal. The Montreal has to be seen in person, it's really cool looking. Having to walk by both those cars in his garage everyday just made me fall in love with the looks of both of them. !M!
  17. Are you willing to build the garage yourself? It's very easy! I needed another hand building a 30X24 garage this week, so I had my 21 year old sister help me. She thought it was fun, loved using the cordless nailers. Pull the permits, and schedule everything yourself. Just make sure you talk to the trades and tell them what you want. Treat them like they are your friends and you will get much more out of them than you expected. If there was a problem that might interfere with another trade, talk to them, let them know what's going on. Comunication is the biggest thing that people lack when they do it themselves. We have to know what's going on! There has been so many times that I've shown up at a job and something wasn't done, because of a problem someone had. Now I'm there and can't do what I was supposed to and I'm pissed, because I have been driving around for no reason and I could be doing something else to make money that day. All it would have taken is a simple phone call to the people the problem affected, when the problem happened. Know what you want and the less changes you make through the project the better people will like you . Sit down with those local guys that did it themselves and ask them, "if they could do it over, what would they change?" and "what mistakes did you make". !M!
  18. Uhg Dare I postpone the GNZ's progress to get some custom wheels at a decent price? Hmmm.... !M!
  19. That's the same exact brake upgrade I did on my '73. Do yourself a favor and get an APV (Adjustable Proportioning Valve). You plumb it into the rear brake line. This way, there is no guessing and you can tune the brakes yourself. You can mount the APV anywhere you want, like on the firewall inside the engine bay, or even inside somewhere. Just as long as it plumb's into the brake line going to the rear wheels, somewhere between the master cylinder and the tee to both rear wheels. You can keep the stock proportioning valve if you like, but you must gut it (take the spring and stuff out) for the APV to work properly. Keeping the stock proportioning valve just lessens the amount of brake line work that you will have to do. If you want to clean it up, then just eliminate the stock proportioning valve and run new brake lines. Oh, and welcome to HybridZ! !M!
  20. I believe that video of the Lotus 7 car was posted on here about a year to a year and a half ago. Since those shows are old, I can't wait to see some of the new ones! EDIT: Doh! You beat me to it Mike. !M!
