  1. yeah my harness has a ignition wire not a tach wire, figured that out ...lol its coming along. im literally 30 minutes of work away from turning hte key. thanks for the help
  2. i just got back from radio shack got the 10ohm 10watt, like you said they look right but the 1k 1/4watt look like somthing that goes on a computer board not inline, is there an alternative part, or am i missing somthing the 1k looks like about 3mm long with 2 solid wire leads out of them, came in a pack of 6. looks like ill blow it up if i put 12v to it.
  3. you da man zane, exactly what i was looking for. the kid at my radio shack wasnt much help. thanks hey what about 1k pull up resistors? got a part number there were a bunch of different styles also and % values. just wanted your opinion on what i should use? thanks alot man
  4. mine came with a v3 main board diagram. im just confused by that box, and cant figure out how ms can get the info from the dizzy to make the coil fire. do i need a relay box? my buddy did his without one.
  5. is there a z specific non relay board install for ms1 v2.2, mobys is good but im confused by the relay box. and the diagrams on diy arnt even close to what i need to do with the hei module.
  6. ok i went to radioshack looking for 6ohm 25w resistors for the fuel injectors like in mobys post, there are so many different styles anyone have a part number? there were gold, blue and every color of the rainbow. witch ones should i use? im using stock 280zxt injectors btw.
  7. simple question if i had a fsm, but i dont on the stock 280zxt injectors what color is power and what color is ground, i have fat green wires all bundled together "thinking thats 12v power" then small green wires with white or yello stripes? thanks in advance, and is there a website with a 280zxt wiring diagram, not that it helps, the only part of tha harness i have is injector wiring and dizzy connection. also on the 12volt side of the injector harness, i know i have to add resistors, why cant i just add 1 resistor instead of 6? woulnt that do the same thing?
  8. clutch master cyl? does it feel like it has play in it, have you tried adjusting the rod on the slave cly or master cyl.
  9. i got 2.2 it just came in today with the harness. i got the run down from a buddy who has a z and another friend with itb's on an ae86, both tell me im over thinking, and both say how great and easy megasquirt is, and that reading all the different ways people find to hook it up is just going to confuse you more. well thats what i think is happening, i look at the wiring diagrams and it looks very simple. but i hear all the horror stories of guys who have been toying for 6 to 8 months and no luck. just the pre project jitters i guess. im starting install this week, so im hoping it should be running enuff to take it to a dyno this weekend and tune it out right. but im sure ill be back on here all week asking all sorts of stupid questions.
  10. if you have the time or money to redesign, tub the front and design a better steering rack the z would be great, i give up on it, its a money pit to try to develope. ive been drifting 12 years, and qualified to the formula d pro am license event in the z and its definetly the trickyest car ive drifted, and the reason i dident whast my time towing it to nevada from ohio is because im a realist, i belive in my own abilitys but the car was definetly not on the level needed to compete with good drivers in better suited cars. but frank was spot on with what i am saying... ive modded my stock rack, cut more teeth into it and made custom end spacers, knuckles, neg camber bump steer/track spacers" and have got my 16+8 -10 ofset wheels with 5mm spacers hitting the frame rails, and rubbing the modified tc rods....lol put a 240sx front end on your and put your z fenders on it is my next step if i would put the time and money into it but im going with a 240sx. but this is dealing with the s30, you have a s130 so im kinda clueless, it might get better angle... who knows, you can develope till your blue in the face or put the money into a solid drift suited car...either way good luck and keep drifting derrick usdrift
  11. will that rack fit in an s30, id love to swap to somthing different, and i think the s130 did get more steering angle than a s30, the fact that there are three racks makes me wonder, i think recirculating ball rack would be best for angle but feels crappy "my b210 got more angle stock than any car ive ever seen...lol", manual rack feels awesome but gets crappy angle, so the ps rack might be the ticket. i can speek for the s30 croud that the manual 72 steering rack blows for drifting...lol on a local level it does ok but you just cant pull off big deep angle drifts like the s13's and fc's even in stock form they out perform in this feture.
  12. Well a friend whos stationed in Iraq just fessed up his clean ae86 with blown motor to be our project 2008$ grm challenge car, hehehe i have a l28 with an e88 head /w cam and tuned hitachi su carbs mated to a 240sx 5 speed, just waitin to get hammered in.. with some front end mods, it should be a simple swap, carbs and pertronix dizzy make it easy, the fitment shouldent be so hard, ive seen turbo 2jzgte fit into ae86, the l motor should work its way into it. when the motor was in my z she pulled real hard, and sounded obnoxious. and to top of the ear bleeding were throwin on a open supertrap, and digital desert camo paint scheme, with lead tipped arrow handling the car should be a blast to drive sideways...lol, and a welded corolla diff it should be interesting.
  13. OK, im about to buy a ms computer for my 82 l28et, im running stock injectors with a 82 dizzy.and plan on running gm iat, coolant temp, 4 pin hei mod, stock one wire o2. 240sx tb with tps. I am planning on buying a ms1 with msns extra. I have been resurching and been very confused, and i am looking for the so called tride and true route, question 1 . will the ms1 work for my needs , Im planning on buying the complete ms1 loaded with msns extra, is this the right route? question 2. I know I have to put in a few resistors in the injector wires to run the low imp injectors and a step upwith gm hei4 to drive the coil, is there any other mods to the board itself i should have to have done while ordering. question 3. is there anything i will need with the ms1 , i plan on getting the universal 12' wiring harness and the tuning cable, anything else to get? ive been doing some resurch on this and it seems more confusing every artical i read ive read the tech write ups and all seemed to be dealing with internal workings of the board, my buddy did msns on his l28et and made it sound so simple, and advised me to get a complete board, ms1 or 2 will work fine, and says its all in the software your going to run, is this true, his z runs excellent and he says people make it out to be way more complicated than it really is.. is this the case? i am ready to order what i need, and would like to do it as easy and inexpencive as possible, and i like to keep things very simple.
  14. I have a 240sx throttle body i did the mods to and am ready to install after i make the spacer, is there any advantage to making it bigger "thicker" ? should i taper it into the manifold? what material should i make it out of, im thinking aluminum, but ive seen plexiglass and wood. how thick is best?
  15. i have a 240z-t drift car, im running the stock 4spd, i had a 4.36 rear from a r31 skyline r200, and it was a bit too much, i was drifting 4th gear at mid-ohio, i swapped out to a 3.5 gear from a turbo zx, it still waste 1st and 2nd gear , im planning on a 240sx 5spd swap and seeing how it does with the 3.5, might swap back to the 4.36 if it needs it. 4 spd hangs in like a champ. even with 300hp, wouldent put race tires on it thow.
  16. ill give you the best advice yet.....as a director for usdrift in the midwest i have built a s30 to compete in formula d series, and i actually qualified to go to the nevada formula d license event in the s30, but quickly realized how difficult the car is to perfect and to drift, sure anything can drift but the biggest problems with the car i found is the extreme lack of steering angle needed to pull out of big angle drifts, even after much modification to the rack i get less steering angle than a stock s13, ive tried to do many things to correct this but without notching the frame rails and much more modifications, changeing to a vw steering rack or somthing your always gonna get crappy angle and spin if try to get hte angle that the other guys are getting. also much like an s200o you sit back in the car very far, it kind of plays tricks on your brain and gives you ill readings on how much angle your gettting. aside from the 2 terminal downfalls, i did develope ane awesome drifting suspension along with a friend at kyb in japan, we custom valved a set of kyb real sports dampers and stuffed them into a short stroked 240z housing witch are 4 way adj front 8 way rear", and did coilovers with 450lb front and 350 rear spring rates, witch i am softening for next season, to 350 front 300 rear, along with 35mm bump steer spacers, camber plates, we were running 12mm toe out and -3 camber front and 1.8 deg rear, we are also running a nismo gtlsd, and cv axel swap, witch is a must... the r180 cant handle drifting, and welding makes you brake stub axels, i broke a cv joint at nopi qualifier in beaverun witch had me out for the day.... all in all for the most part have given up drifting the s30 in 2008 and picked up a s13 for competitions, but for my local events i host i will still on occasion drift the z. on a professional level it is not competitive and i dont have the money or backing to make it compete on that level at this time. thus the reason for the switch. but on a local level the z does very well, but with no aftermarket support for drifting your stuck developing parts and solutions yourself witch cost a ass load of money. derrick usdrift outbrake motorsports
  17. helloooo sideways and goodby stub axels...lol
  18. i have a break threw i cleaned all the connections with electric parts cleaner, and fired it up still same problem... i remember i had a cyl head temp sensor from a na 280zx in the box never opened so i installed it to see what would happen it revs up all the way to redline, but is very rich but drivable, but i want to change to the correct part for a turbo car.... what actually does the cyl head temp sensor dictate to the computer? and will it make the computer go into limp mode or cause this problem or am i barking up the wrong tree.
  19. i was running at a local drift event today and everything was going well untill the car all of the sudden started stumbleing and not reving past 4k rpm under load only, but revs free to 7k in neutral. heres what i have checked 1.made sure i had gas in the tank, tank is a aluminum fuel cell newer, foam is good 2. fuel pump, i have a msd efi pump, fairly new, stock fpr 3. tune up parts good, and maf is adjusted properly, new plugs, wires, cap rotor. 4. disconnected knock sensor, bypassed, tryed to bypass the cyl head temp sensor "not sure if thats possible" 5. checked for vac leaks, but car idles awesome and runs awesome to 4k where it hits a wall. friends said they saw black smoke when i start to stumble witch makes me think its rich or its cutting ignition, i think i have some problem with the cyl head sensor, ive had this problem a few months back and cleaned the terminals and it went away, but no luck this time.... any ideas
  20. i custom bult my drift setup, i have kyb real sports dampers, 4 way adjustable and brp coilovers, i went with 8kg/mm front 6 kg/mm rear or 450 front 350 rear in american terms. ive made alot of custom arts to help the car drift better, the most important is steering angle mods, get some azc or motorsport short steering knucles, and remove the spacers at a minimum, and i cut the rack shorter and made more teeth, still not the angle the s13/14 chassis are getting but way better than stock. if you need some more advice on drift set up hit me up.
  21. heres drift kandy and a shamless plug all in one
  22. come buy it, ill pull the wheels...lol actually ill take detailed pics with a friends camera and post them
  23. hahaha, its real... i still havent bought a digital camera, i just spend the money on more car stuff. oh well, i have my prioritys right, or wrong....
  24. nope okinawa plate stays with me i gotta rep okinawa...lol
