  1. castlemaine rod shop is the company that sells the adapter to mate the supra six speed to the rb26
  2. I use a an auto dark made by hobart. Paid 150 for it and it is worth every penny.
  3. I was going to buy my engine and transmission from them as well but when i called and asked about it, they did not have an rb25det rwd transmission available for two months. Also, they only had the r32 rb26 engine in stock and would have to order the r33 rb26. I did not ask about the rb25.
  4. i tig welded a v-band flange on using 308L stainless rod. everythings good so far. i just made sure the cast was as clean as i could make it.
  5. check this out http://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech_projects/el_blower/
  6. if you want to try the boiling trick we have 2-2.5 inch reducer 90 degree elbows. www.siliconehose.net or call 301-977-4727
  7. anything is possible with enough time and money. if you have some fab skills then it will probably be more time than money
  8. thanks J. i think i am just going to go with the R33 engine. a couple hundred dollars now is worth it for the peace of mind it will give me later.
  9. Is anyone here using one of these to correct the oil pump drive problem on the r32 rb26? How much does it run and how fast could i get one. im kinda stuck. i found everything i need to do my rb swap but have a choice between the r32 and r33 engine. the r32 package is 3300 and the r33 is 4000. if the crank collar is super expensive (as most JUN stuff is) then i might just go with the r33 engine. any help is most appreciated as i am very ready to order one.
  10. a mig welder will do fine. if you are making it out of stainless then you want a helium, co2, argon mix. for mild steel you can use 75/25. neither gas is flammable
  11. i second that. i definetly want to do this to mine
  12. i was looking at that gt28rs last night. i think a set of those would be sweeet! a set of those on a 350z at 13psi put down 520whp on our dynapack. not too bad
  13. i would be careful with those manifolds. it has "heavy turbo and wastegate flanges" but the flange that meets the head looks awful thin to me. also with the wastegate tube being that long into a collector such as that one it could break off.
  14. from what i understand the r33 engine is better because of the oil pump drive keyway on the crank. the r32 engines keyway only engages the drive gear by about 2mm. this can lead to failure. nissan fixed this on th r33
  15. the biggest thing to remember is the tv cable adjustment. improper adjustment and the tranny wont last to long.
  16. another way to check for a blown head gasket if you have access is to use a five gas analyzer. pop the radiator cap and put the sniffer above the coolant with the engine running. combustion escaping into the cooling system should show up.
  17. So im getting ready to start my engine swap and ive decided that i want either an rb26 or a 2jz-gte. Ive read so much about these engines here and have learned alot in the process. My question is not which engine is better or will make more power but pertains to two things, difficulty of the swap and parts availability. For those of you that have done these engines swaps i was wondering if could list the biggest problem you have run into while attempting them. And for you Rb guys, is it worth the headache of trying to find parts at reasonable prices to go for the Rb or would you have rather gone for the 2jz if you had to do it over?
  18. it depends on how much boost youre looking to run in order to achieve your hp goal. obviously running 30 psi is going to heat the air more than running 10 psi. too large an intercooler might result in a little more lag time.
  19. do you have any specs on that car, length, track width, weight?
  20. whats the going price on the rb26's ?
  21. Anyone interested in a maxima N47 cylinder head? Did some searching and found that this is a pretty desirable head. Was looking in my local JY for an R200 and stumbled across an old maxima. Dont know what kind of shape its in but id be happy to pull it for somebody that wants it.
  22. you should try looking through a summit racing or jegs catalog. sealed power forged pistons in a 8.78 to 1 compression ratio are only $263. i wouldn't even consider having pistons milled. they only have so much material on top and weak pistons + boost = bang!
