  1. Its cheap enough, I'll go ahead and order one. It won't be installed for at least another 3 weeks, but I'll let you guys know if it works...
  2. The issue is from the geometry of the shifter itself, or the top plate? The shifter I was looking at is the type that bolts on top of the original plate: MSA
  3. I'm slightly confused. I thought the RB20DET trans was the same as a Z31 (FS5W71C), not a Z32 (FS5R30A). I was going to get a short throw shifter for a Z31, but after reading that thread, I will probably wait until I can grab a striker arm off a non-RB trans...
  4. I second that! Imagine surfing this site on 5KB/s (on a good day). Don't even get me started on Afghan Telecom's idea of customer service...
  5. Here's my pics thread for my build, if you want something to look at SinCityZ. It is kinda slow, but way better than some of the posts showing up on Zcar.com these days. I'll take boring over stupid any day...
  6. Wiring is definitely a huge issue. Not only is there a lot of wiring to sort through, but the ECU requires special reprogramming to disable the anti-theft system. McKinney has sorted out the wiring and ECU mods required to run the VQ as a standalone motor...
  7. Compression test came out to 150psi on all 6. A little lower than I expected, but dead even. Evidently, they charge extra for a MAF with their motor sets. At this point, what's $45 to straighten out the issue?
  8. The motor showed up. It looks pretty good for a junkyard motor. I will be calling them in the morning to find out where my MAF is. I will post compression numbers and pics of the bottom end soon...
  9. I'm planning on using the RB compressor with the old aftermarket AC evaporator. I was thinking about using string to estimate the lengths for the custom hoses. Any better ideas for doing hose mock-up?
  10. The idler and tensioner pulleys I mentioned are for the timing belt. If you are looking for a stock timing belt, there are a couple dealerships selling timing belt kits on ebay...
  11. I can understand inspecting the cams and crank bearings, but why go tearing apart a perfectly good motor just for GP?
  12. Despite my best efforts to thoroughly research the company I bought my RB from, my motor ended up getting shipped from Osaka Japanese Auto Parts. The place I ordered it from, jdm_planet, does have an impressive positive feedback record on ebay, so I'm hoping that any problems will be handled properly. It should be showing up at a friends house next week. After he inspects the motor, I'll report back here...
  13. New idler and tensioner pulleys are cheap insurance for your timing belt. Don't forget other basic maintenance parts like belts and spark plugs too. Mine isn't together yet, but believe me it all adds up. Kinda curious why the SDS and LSD. Nistune is a good option for tuning, and maybe a CV axle conversion before going LSD. I guess it all depends on what you're planning on using the car for...
  14. I was holding out to find the best deal. Pat came to the rescue, but I would've been forced to pay $700+ otherwise. One of those "pay to play" kind of things...
  15. My current setup is running e85. I'm just checking to make sure the stock ZX pump can feed a stock RB25det NEO...
  16. We have a Nistune dealer in Vegas. They might be hard to track down, but they're out there...
  17. Wow, thats about as much as I'm paying for a complete swap set shipped! Not a 26, but still...
  18. Does the same modification apply when using an RB20 trans or the Rick Wong mounts?
  19. I checked them out and while they have competitive prices for RB26, they seem a lil high for the setup I'm looking for. I think I found a good deal, just waiting to hear back on some stuff and for the funds to clear my PayPal...
  20. It definitely took my stress level down a few notches! Now just waiting to find the right motor lolz...
  21. Will the regular RB25DET water pump and timing components (belt, tensioner) work for the NEO engine? Also, how many people changed the tensioner and idler when they changed the belt?
  22. Mine is going pearl orange as well. Sticking to a stockish look with my louvered hood and urethane front similar to yours...
  23. What I meant was those wires are ok to be cut. If you look closely, you'll see that the cut wires are coming off the back side of a connector. His harness looks to be intact...
  24. Looks like the wiring from the white plug to the dash and other accessory stuff...
