  1. Today, I drove home our newest Z... A friend of mine called me last week. He had received a letter form a local gentelmen that said he had a '74 260, owned it for 22 years, and wanted to see it go to a good home. Curiously, he didn’t want any money. The following day, BRAAP and I went to look at it. It immediately had our attention. Garaged for 22 years... last driven in 2002. Very straight and one of the most rust free unrestored Z’s I’ve seen, with no apparent structural damage or repair. Interior is complete with only minor blems. Factory A/C, Panasports, Bob Sharp intake with Holley 390, header/exhuast work, and mild cam. Some suspension work has also been done but his memory was a little vague on the details. Paul asked him what he wanted for it. Still, he wanted nothing. I just couldn't take it from him. I offered him $400, and he said “Thats fine”. Currently, I have no plans for the car as I wasn't exactly in the market for the another Z. Nevertheless, Paul and I have been bench racing it... . . To be continued....
  2. Shhhh.... don't tell anyone Anxiously awaiting your results... keep us posted.
  3. Thanks No one should be waiting on my manifold. Production hinges largely on positive test results. I expect at least 4-6 months before the first tests. If all goes well, its a 12 month wait minimum. No The early design used a separate flange for the plenum to runner juntion. A side benifit would be the ability to provide head flange/runners separate for those that wanted to build thier own plenum. At this time, I don’t feel the weight and cost penalty is worth the ‘feature’. Interesting that he has gotten that far on an OE manifold. N42 runners are only about 53% the area of the stock intake valve (280). Considering their length, I suspect a fair amount of restriction. My runners are 74% the area of the valve. *IF* it ever gets produced my manifold will likley be well more than double that. One, not so obvious advantage, is that runner lengths will be tailored to the customer. Another consideration with my manifold... the plenum walls are only .063”. It would not hold up to much boost. The two that are currently being built, and already sold, are for NA cars. I am working with a tooling engineer on .125" wall plenums for a boosted application.... we’ll see where that goes.
  4. Nope.... not unless you successfully yanked/bypassed the ignitors. Even then, its still a maybe.
  5. Tony, That beg's the question... Have you done that type of testing with your IAT mounted directly behind the TB? Findings? Enquiring minds want to know
  6. At the risk of re-opening a can of worms, I think your point of view is just different than my own. What I'm calling heat soak is an erroneously high reading of the IAT from outside sources. What you describe fits that from my perspective. However right or wrong I may be, I don't believe seeing 130 or 140 deg IAT reading is 'normal' on a 60 degree day (NA car). The manifold itself may very well be that temp. (or hotter) but the air spends only milliseconds of time in contact with the manifold (even at small throttle angles). You and I both know that time is a major component of heat transfer. So... I don't see how the incoming air would have the time to reach those temps. I can easily imagine a 10 or 15 degree rise, but not much more under normal conditions. Until someone can explain to me how air temps can rise 60-80 degrees, again assuming an NA car, I'm sticking to my feeble opinion.
  7. TeamNissan is on the right track. The battery area is an eyesore, along with some firewall 'junk'. The AFM is doing a disappearing act as well, with the installation of a Wolf3D EMS. BRAAP will also be installing an aluminum Ron Davis radiator. A bit of a tangent.... its also getting a scratchbuilt intake manifold.... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=117607 and 6 denso coils... So the manifold/fuel rail/TB is for sale... http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php?product=3720&cat=17
  8. VZ, One of my cardinal rules is to never knowingly take advantage of another. While I greatly appreciate your offer, I would be breaking my rule:biggrin:
  9. Thats because they know its you knocking
  10. I stumbled on this video of predominantly E30 crashes... Apologies for the 'music'... tacky and contains some explicit language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbJ2SORaBUQ&NR
  11. Uhhh... its Multiport EFI and if you think it was easy, you're not seeing it for what its is. The engine compartment used to look like this... .
  12. Darn near neighbors... I'm in Sandy. Howdy. Clean-up work is frequently 'creative rearrangement'. This car has 95% of its original 'stuff', including A/C... . . Still room for improvement.... so, its under the knife, once again.
  13. Its not my style... but I can certainly appreciate the effort. Two thumbs up.
  14. Email can fail in a number of ways. Sorry to say I've been on both sides of that... it usually leaves someone red-faced. Did you try PM as well?
  15. A search found these quickly, http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115937&highlight=%22air+temp%22+iat http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107628&highlight=%22air+temp%22+iat http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105195&highlight=%22air+temp%22+iat I'm just having a little fun, forgive? To answer your question, not knowing anything about what you're doing, and having only those 3 choices, I'd choose option #1
  16. Mike, You should pay him a visit, have a little fun, and let us know how it goes
  17. Sure it was unfair... you didn't have the added weight of the turbo
  18. I don't have a dog in this fight but I will say this... If you post medicore numbers nobody will think twice about it... whether you're lying or not. On the other hand, if you post prodigious numbers, such as you have, you shouldn't be surprised if you're asked to substantiate your claims. Fair enough?
  19. 3 words for you... E, F, I.
