Visit to US East Coast Autumn 09 - Where to go?
Mike Rowe replied to Mike Rowe's topic in Nissan RB Forum
Thanks for all your ideas so far guys, will reserach those places and how to route them in. Also would be good to see as many Z's/Hybrids on my way while there, so would like to know where you all are. Keep the ideas coming. I will do the west coast on another visit and do the same. regards -
Hi guys, I am going to visit the east coast Sep/Oct or so this year. Probably fly to New York from Perth (West Australia) and then drive down to Florida. Can anyone advise what I should go and see & where ie Drag circuits, Car Museums, Race Circuits , Classic car shows, etc? Does NASA have a Space Centre or museum in Florida? Which of you guys with an RB Z live on the East Coast that I could come and see your car? regards
-
Thanks. For the fuel tank filler hose presumably you used stock there? regards
-
I need new hoses to the vapour tank, but they are either not available or outrageously expensive. What have others done? Can you do without the vapour tank? If so what did you do with the outlets on the fuel tank itself? Otherwise have you found hoses to fit the vapour tank? Is the vapour tank pressurised with the RB system in?

Same issue for me with the CV. The guys who put mine in were so worried about the tight fit that they machined some off to reduce the load. -

Yes I had the same issue, you shouldnt have to machine anything, you just get the right one, which are available regards -
There has been heaps of correspondence and answers on this aircleaner routing on two other threads if anyone is interested in the future: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101321 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127109

Hi thanks for the photos thats great. Did you say you would like to buy the racing BOV if I dont use it or the HKS? The photo of the HKS I am just holding a tube that came with the racing BOV, that happens to fit in the hole of the HKS perfectly -

I agree with you what a lot of nonsense over straight air. I am still tossing up whether to weld a fitting on the HKS and let that recirculate. I presume it should be a much better BOV than the other one, should be, it cost 7 times as much! What do you think about the photo below, just welding a small tube on the open outlet of the HKS - I assume that should work? -

That would be great if you could take some photos of the final product. I had purchased a HKS BOV but then found out that the Licensing Authorities will not approve a BOV to atmosphere. I therefore have bought a cheap one with recirc to get it licensed (see photos below) Thanks for info on where all the pipes go. Regards unfiltered air into inlet - my HKS did come with a filter for that line so must be something in it? I got someone to do the polishing (cost $500!) so not sure what they used but yes the collectors are rough in standard trim. I like the polished look as it looks more like what the car would have come with regards -
What don't you have to put back on an RB26?

Funny you should say that, as I did the same conversion and ended up removing it all as I got terrible vibrations at about 45mph. I thought the CVs must have been stuffed, but maybe there is another problem? -

Thanks good explanation. What I meant was the rear alumium right angle original fitting that you have obviously retained. I have an Apexi Djetro so have done away with the MAF's which does decomplicate it somewhat. What I am thinking of doing is using another rear fitting on the front as well (see photos below). The first photo shows the rear fitting I am talking about, the second photo, the rear fitting on the front turbo, the third photo, one possibility for routing the aircleaner, the fourth photo, one possibility for routing the rear aircleaner, and the fifth, the same from the top. If you can though, I would love to see a picture of your setup (can you take off the front aircleaner & photograph down there?) as you describe it with the BOV fed back etc. Did you feed the BOV back to both turbos rather than just one? Also what width is your IC? I had a 600 wide but it was too tight so have just bought a 450mm wide one. Also where does the small black tube off the side of the BOV go to? regards -

Did you use the rear turbo inlet aircleaner fitting on the front turbo to route your aircleaner? regards -
Well Stony was dead right. I tried the rear turbo aircleaner fitting on the front turbo and voila that should do the trick - now I just need to find one. Lots of people take off the twin turbos to use a single so ther must be some lying around - any HybridZ members in OZ have one? See below Compare front & rear turbo fittings, rear turbo fitting now fitted to front turbo
-
thats good! Look forward to an update soon regards
-
What a great idea Stony!!! I will try that out and let you know Thanks greatly regards
-
Do you think that flange is for the front turbo aircleaner or something else? regards
-
Does anyone recognise the car below that Stroker has sent as an example of the aircleaner routing? Is it a Hybridz member?
-
Hi Stroker sorry to hear about the leg! Thanks for the photo which shows it can be done. Was this someone off the web, that I could contact? I also have gallons of photos, but the same issue & no one describes the aircleaners. On my website it is details like this that I go through step by step. Keep in touch and we will see what each of us comes up with. I hope the osteoblasts & osteoclasts do their job well on your leg! regards

Can anyone tell me how to deal with re-routing the pipework for the original flange fitment on the front turbo? (see third picture below) I have the rear turbo aircleaner sorted very easily (see Pic 1 & 2) but the front one, the flange off the turbo is going to have to be completely refabricated (in original fitment faces straight to the side of the engine bay). I am going to see if I can get a generic flange and then weld on pipework coming straight out to the front whilst attempting to miss the aircond pump. Those who have stayed with the twin turbo setup - what have you done? Pictures would be great. thanks
