  2. I do home inspections to support my habit ( too many Z's). One day I'm inspecting a house which has a detached garage in the backyard. The garage isn't facing the house or street but the house next door, which I notice has the same size detached garage facing this one. The realtor says these two neighbors were car guys and would work on there cars together and could talk back and forth while they were working on their cars. I thought wow that must have been neat. I guess this site is about the next best thing.
  3. When I was in high school my buddies and I would work together on our cars. But now with wives, kids homes etc it's hard to find time to work tohether if you can find someone close enough to work with. I did a member search for my state Florida and found most memeber only listed the state and not the city. If more people listed the city it would be easier to find people close to you. Any thoughts on how to do that? Brad
  4. wonderllama, I'm in Bradenton and have a lift if you want to take a look underneath. You can email or pm me if you want to get together. Brad
  5. Great links grumpy! Thanks for all the info you have been providing. Bradz240
  6. I used a 1/2" pipe plug in the back of the block in place of the splitter and a 3/8" pipe plug in the hose at the front.
  7. My son got a speeding ticket in Florida and was sure he wasn't speeding as he was driving beside a friend and my sons passenger was talking to the other car who said they were going the speed limit also but not ticketed. Anyway my son went on line to see if he could fight it and found a site that tells you how to fight a speeding ticket. He found one, don't know what it was, but it said that the officer is required to prove his radar was properly calibrated (they actually carry a log book for this) with the correct tuning forks with matching serial numbers to the radar gun. They didn't match but the judge found him guilty anyway. A real kangaroo court. The judge also said in his opening information if you calmed you were going slower than the speed on the ticket but were still speeding, only by a lesser amount you were still guilty. But maybe you will have better luck in CA.
  8. Speeder I'm in the process of replacing the heater control valve (waiting for new part) on my '83zx and experiencing the same problem. What a pain! Brad
  9. Thanks goldfish! Mine doesn't have any degree markings, just cold to hot. So it's manual, that's what I thought. Brad
  10. Your welding is coming along. A couple of things you can do on the burn throughs you were talking about before. 1 if you can get to the back side of it place a piece of copper (flatened copper pipe) behing the hole. It will give some backing to weld against and the weld won't stick to the copper. 2 you can use a piece of steel ( nail or bolt) as filler and weld it up that way.
  11. Thanks for the replies guys. I have the lever control without any thermostat just the lever that slides from cold to hot. I looked in the fsm but didn't see where it said how to tell which you have, but i'm gussing I have the manual air. Thanks for the help.
  12. I have a 83zx with a leaking heater control valve I want to replace. My question is what is auto air? Is that the cars with digital dash? There are apparently two version of the heater control valve one for automatic air and one for manual air. I think I have manual air but I'm not sure how to tell. Help Please! Thanks, Brad
  13. I'm in the process of redoing the interior of my '83zx, new carpet, foil back insulation and z31 power seats. David K What did you do to get 5x4.5 lugs and z32 brakes? How much of a hassle was it?
  14. Mine buids up pressure on long trips. When the fuel pump starts making lots of noise there is always pressure in the tank, let it out and the fuel pump quiets down. I believe the s130's fuel cap is vented to allow vacuum release but not pressure release.
  15. I havethe same experience with my '83. Also the fuel pump which is new makes a loud noise on long drives. When i take the fuel cap off, pressure is released and the noise stops. Guess I need to check the purge valve on the carbon canister. If anyone figures this pressure build up out let us know.
  16. I like the idea. Featured ride could be generic to mean this is what we are showing at this time. Doesn't have to be a perfect show car, just what someone else is doing.
  17. I experience the same pressure build up in my stock '83. Sometimes the fuel pump starts to make a loud buzzing sound. When I remove the fuel cap there is always a pressure buildup present when the fuel pump makes this excessive noise. I have replaced the fuel pump, and regulator, fuel filter, eliminated a kink in the return line near the tank and checked the purge control valve on the charcoal canister. I'm still looking for the solution. If anyone has any other ideas I'm listening.
  18. I got mine from them and I'm happy with it.
  19. I got a full cap form BV for my '83zx and used large zip lock bags filled with sand to hold it down until the adhesive set. Han to cut back the sides of the cracks to allow it to lay flat. The original dash was really bad. Fits pretty good but you can tell it is a cap around the guages.
  20. What about a pontiac ohc-6? It came stock with a 4 barrell and 250 ci.
  21. Warren It won't fit in the cassette player location. The cup holder is about 6 3/4" wide. Nice gauges!
