  1. move the perch your collar sits on 2" up, or get 12" springs
  2. I was very pleased with falken azenis. They really are a wonderful tire as far as performance and bang for the buck go. ziex 512s, in my opinion, are good all season tire, and probably good for rain, but the sidewall is too soft, and there will be a lot of tire roll. speaking from experience of owning both
  3. Look, son I never made a single comment about your ZX. You told me to show my Z progress instead of "running my mouth" about the neon. I did. The comment for the fwd subaru was made in jest that you shouldn't spend money on a daily driver, but instead sink it into your project car. Apparently that message didn't make it through either Second, you called out my neon before I made any comments about your subaru, so, you lose this argument too. Ironically, you're giving me crap about having a slow fwd daily driver. Pot:kettle, my friend. You drive a fwd subaru. If you're going to try to win this battle by commenting on my spelling of my handle, at least learn to spell it properly: auxilliary. My handle comes from IRC from eons ago, where I couldn't use more than 8 character names. And clearly, you're still not getting the point that you are wrong about 215/60 vs. 205/60 tires. Just accept defeat already
  4. not as much as you think turbo manifold space is extremely limited, I have to move it forward about a foot
  5. apparently, sarcasm > you. You can keep picking on the neon, except mine's a 99 r/t, not a 95. Of course, if you weren't ignorant, you'd probably realize that most of the issues were addressed by 97 models. My r/t has 100k on it, and I'm about to change the timing belt - it hasn't left me stranded anywhere yet. Sure, it's a pos, but it gets ~32 mpg on average, and best of 38mpg on the highway, and seats 4 comfortably. I didn't call your car a ricer, I called YOU a ricer. You have a ricer's mentality, best you can do is yap about how crappy my neon is, and tell me that a TALLER tire will provide better handling, and attempt to call me out on "progress" of my Z (which, by the way, is just a little better than your project). Point is, YOU ARE WRONG, and you can't see that after I went through calculations to show you. You also fail to aknowledge that the 512 has a soft sidewall - I could easily flex it with my bare hands when I looked at the tire. I chose the tires because I didn't like changing out azenis every 15k miles, and the noise they made when they wore down.
  6. mission accomplished. motor out. engine bay clean. first day of ownership last day it was on the road before i dismantled it
  7. As far as the bodystiffness goes. It's lifted right behind the front wheel. Hey, I was wondering if you can help me out: I am trying to put the head back on the Z's motor, but I can't seem to figure out how to put it on. Where does the headgasket go? Any tips or tricks you can help me out with? I'm a little lost.... oh yeah, weren't you the guy who wanted to hop up the 1.8L fwd subaru that gets spanked by kias, hyundais and.. wait.. neons! lose the ricer mentality, and quit picking on a daily driver that can outhandle your Z and your subaru.
  8. My initial reply was a comparison of 512 tires to azenis. I've also read reviews that said people claimed 502s had better grip than the 512s. I've also clearly noted that I ran both tires in question on the same car. Exact same setup, the only thing that changed was the tire size and type. It doesn't get any clearer than that, does it? Clearly, given that information, I'm talking out of my ass. Going back to your original reply: You're telling me that after I posted about running 205/60 tires. a 215/60 tire on a 14" wheel has the same sidewall height as a 15" one does. and again, reinforce your statement that 215/60 would provide better handling than a 205/60. Of course, 10mm in width makes such a huge difference. On a side note, if you saw the footprint of the azenis vs. the footprint of the 512, you'd notice that a 195/60 tire would cover just as much as a 205 because of the difference in sidewall design. But then again, what would I know? It's not like I had both tires to compare at the same time or anything...
  9. it's one way to convert subaru's intercooler to air-to-water unit
  10. you're right, the neon is STIFFER than the older Z or ZX, and has almost no chassis flex. If I jack up front right 6", the rear right will be 5" off the ground. Why do you think stock Neon ACRs were beating the crap out of competition in autocross for years? Also, I don't think you're aware of FWD cars that have limitations on tire sizes, like Z cars do. 215 would rub, and offset my speedo, let alone the fact that I have 14" wheels on the car. You're telling me that a car with 215/60 tires will perform better than the same car with 205/60 tires. Now, let's break this down into simple math: stock size: 185/65/14 = 120.5mm tall sidewall falken azenis I had: 195/60/14 = 117mm tall sidewall - treadwear 200, AA traction, A temp rating ziex 512 tires I have now 205/60 = 123mm tall sidewall - treadwear 420, A traction A temp rating ziex 512 tires in 215/60 = 129mm tall sidewall. treadwear 420, A traction A temp rating Hm, let's see... oh yeah! I'm certain that a tire with a weak sidewall like ziex512 will handle LOADS better when you INCREASE the sidewall height! Well crap, obviously I made the wrong choice, time to go back to America Tire Co and have them slap on some 215/85 size tires! Maybe you just don't know how to read tires Shorter sidewall = stiffer sidewall = less flex = better cornering in most, if not all, situations.
  11. ziex 512 tires suck for autocross. I have them on my neon (switched FROM azenis 195/60/14 to 512 205/60/14), and they are quieter, but squeal like a stuck pig and have half hte grip of the azenis
  12. after gathering your responces, i won't post pics of my rotary Z because I know how many of you are going to fondle yourselves profusely. if you were all hot women, i wouldn't have a problem. However, you aren't!

  14. He doesn't know how to use the 3 seashells!
  15. bzzzzzzzzzt! squids are inexperienced bikers trying to show off skills they don't have while lacking appropriate riding safety gear (ie. helmet, jacket, etc)
  16. having a Z that low is kinda stupid. This is my ride height with an L24 And my exhaust would scrape on speed bumps at work, and mine's about 2" higher than the one pictured. tires are 225/50/15
  17. no. spring seats are almost identical. you're thinking of strut isolators
  18. yeah, definitely interested. I'll give you a call tomorrow if time allows - I'd have to tow the car to the shop (davyz can help me out w/ that)
  19. rolling up on almost a year now that my car's been out of commission. almost all the parts are in, but I'm waiting on my engine management system. Been a month, and nothing in sight yet. Again, another item backordered with no date in sight If I knew this was going to be such a hassle before I bought all the parts, i would've just said 'screw it' and shoved an lt1 in there. anyone know a good shop that'll weld up exhaust manifolds to custom spec in stainless steel, in Bay Area? Preferably not too expensive?
  20. scary enough, I have a friend from HS who's a Jehovah's witness. I didn't really know about it until recently - and he's a sarcastic SOB, you wouldn't expect it. He tried recruiting me once, then again, and again. I told him that if he wants to remain friends, he'll drop it. Surprisingly enough, he did...
  21. fyi: i keep reading DV8D as DVDA.
  22. What kind of a name is Poon, anyway? -Comance Indian
