cool, ill probably pull the bolts out and wrap them in something then. When i was screwin them down, my flathead sliped and put a small dent in one of the core rows, im not sure how fragile they are and how far the water jackets come out, it didnt puncture through, but a tiny dent, guess ill just have to wait and see, lol...i hate radiators, never liked the concept, too fragile and weird... Cant wait to hear this thing fire up
-
the only reason i thought it would be ok is because the bolts tie into a long plate on the other side that should distribute the load throughout the whole radiator core, up and down, its just just a bolt on the other side, its a whole plate that spans the heighth of the core. Hmm...i guess i could make brackets, but it would never fit so cleanly and tightly as it does now...We'll see I guess Still lots of work to do. Throughout the week Im gonna strip all the suspension pieces and hottank them to get them nice and clean and then powder coat them all black before reinstalling them with all new urathane bushings. Hoping to have the rear end completely done by next week(q45, cv's, halfshaft, stub axles and adapter. Im gonna send the harness out as well to get modified
-
Finally got around to it. I ran 4 thin, long bolts through the radiator core and tied in the front with a 19" plate connecting them, will this be ok? It makes for a clean install and really hugs the fan shroud tightly against the radiator. Its a JTR aluminum radiator with their mounting brackets which worked out really well and look very clean. and the R230 lsd with the arizona mustache bar. My cv's will be here tomorow and the half shafts and adapter from MM towards the end of the week The flywheel is on its way and I already have the centerforce clutch, so most likely the tranny will go in this weekend(I will try to keep the motor in the car and just throw the tranny in from the bottom using a lift, seems that the motor has enough play to angle down and access all tranny bolts.

if i have sway bars front and rear, and my weight distribution is about 50/50 would it be ok to get 200lb rates all around?

m hmmm...me thinks its also only for a pair, kinda tricky, since it does say pair but seems to be a kit...If its only a pair, im gonna pass. Thats like $560 for a set of springs and sleeves, not a good deal -
if i can get mine to no more than 2600lb dry i would be happy, its a 71 240z I wont have ac, ps, etc.... I have no bumpers. I will try to get an aluminum driveshaft(if not CF), its an lt1 with aluminum heads, aftermarket headers, aluminum radiator. Its got a lighter flywheel . Even the steering wheel is much lighter, lol...stock one is heavy THe rear end will add alot as i have a q45 diff, cv's, etc... I did get the aluminum mustache bar however and my wheels are forged. We'll see.

those diffs are crazy, when i recieved my q45 r230 i was like HOLY **** this thing is heavy, its like 80lb or so...insane
-
how much heavier is a 280 than a 240?
-
yea, loctite will not be good enough of an answer for me, lol
-
those are nice, are the spokes flat or do they come out(towards front of wheel) if that makes sense Those would look badass powder coated too....lets see pics when youre done

yes, thats him -
I just ordered from this guy, he sounds like he knows his stuff and i talked to him for a while. Its a 2.04 ID sleeve(240z is 2.02) and he says it fits over the stock struts. It comes complete as a set of 4 and even comes with a new flange to weld onto the strut if you grind off the stock one and want to move your mounting flage lower. Comes with springs, sleeve, nut, top mounts, flange, o ring to take up movement, etc...for $280, much cheaper then some other places, and you pick any spring length/rate you want I just ordered 10" springs with 200f/225r rates uses stock top hats as well:
-
i ordered a spec billet steel flywheel, i dont like aluminum because it warps very easily Billet steel flywheels are still much lighter then stock, not as light as aluminum, good middle ground and stronger
-
so whats the deal with this? I am about to order these for my q45 conversion as well, are they supposed to be tight? Seems like they should fit on pretty tight and not be loose at all...???

wow, 500whp+ all motor, unbelievable Too much for me, i got my lt1 with 4 speed tranny for $1100. Engine was already rebuild 30 over, lt4 hotcam package with rockers, ecu, wiring harness.... Sold the tranny for $500 Picked up a t56 for $800. You can say I did pretty well, this motor as it sits should be at about 310whp or so. Once its all running and well, i will pull the heads in favor of some afr cnc'd 190's, and cc306 cam for about 370-380whp tuned. On top of that will be a 100 shot of giggle gas.

thanks, that helps...I think im going to source out the 280 stub axles, and then send them to MM to have him make me that 1 piece cv adapter bypasing the 4bolt flange bolting...just have him weld it straight to the 6 bolt adapter, and then slide in. BTW, got my arizonazcar mustache bar today, damn that thing looks dope just sitting there, everyone at the shop had a smile on their face when i pulled it out, a big piece of badass billet, just looks killer on its own, too bad you cant see it from behind the car So got my q45, 4 cv's, mustache bar, driveshaft adapter, and will order the stub axles from that texas place, and the adapters and halfshafts from MM...wheew....lots of parts, this thing better pull wheelies, lol Also dropped in my lt1 today:) looks killer in there. Ordered wheels and tires. Next week im going to tackle the tranny install and mount fab work, and coilovers. Also got one of those 240z custom fuel sumps from a member on the board, the summit ones are TOO LONG for our tiny tank.

im having a local bodyshop paint the centers flat black like they painted my buddies car, very clean and smooth look. It will have that CCW finish to them. Cant wait, with the flares and lip should look killer I hope I never liked centerlines idea of polishing the whole wheel, totally takes away from the 2 piece look, too much bling for me oh, and centerlines center capps, jeez, wtf were they thinking? THey got multimilion dollar machines but a designer that needs to be shot They can easily produce wheels like ccw, hre, etc...for 1/2 the price, why not? Some redneck designer sitting back there making yuky wheels.... This is hte only wheel, with a painted center, and no center caps that i think looks dope, the pics with the mustang with no center caps totally makes the wheel look better, almost reminds me of that jongbloed wheel...

I will be running 5" backspacing and zg flares. I am about to get coilovers but dont know which size will work for sure. Will 5" backspacing clear a 10" 2.5 spring? Some say you need 8" springs on wider than 9.5 wheels, but width of the wheel doesnt mater, its the backspacing. Mine is 5" all around, will this clear 10" 2.5" springs? I rather run 10" springs to avoid coil bind as i wont be going drastically stiff, probably like 200 front/225 rear, does this sound decent for a street car with average track use? Its an lt1/t56 with jtr setbacks 240z

sorry guys i didnt mean overpriced for the part, just overall, overpriced as far as money goes, $700 for a small part of the rear end is alot of money I mean all added up: 700 stub axles, $400 adapters, $300 halfshafts, $250 q45 diff, $250 mustache bar, etc....it adds up to $$$$$$$ We'll see what my budget allows, i would like at least 280z stubs for now
-
Ok guys, they will be here 2 weeks from today I did 17x9.5 all around with 5" backspacing all around I HOPE this works out with my zg flares. Most likely will do a 275/40/17 drag radial out back, 265/40/17 tire up front
