  1. 1/8" sheetmetal plate. It needs to be atleast 0.125" so I would use 10 gauge. Regards, Justin
  2. I guess that will be fine. I would imagine I'm going to have to use 6" X 6" X 0.125" plates to tie the rocker bars into the car. Then I can mount the cage to this and still stay NHRA legal. Justin
  3. I'm just trying to decide between using 1.625 Round tubing (like the rest of the cage will be made from) or doing 2" X 2" Square Tubing for the rockers. What do you all think? Regards, Justin
  4. Its not really the weight but the welding that I'm worried about. I'll just take my time and work with it. Justin
  5. Yeah, they are freakin beefy. I guess it really doesn't matter. I'll just use what I have got.. My only concern was welding the thick metal to the factory floor pan. I should be ok, but it will be a little tricker. Justin
  6. I purchased a set of bad dog frame rails for my 280z. The set I recieved are made from 10GA steel (0.131" thick). Is this overkill? Should I get the thinner gauge units that are 12GA (0.1046" thick)? The difference in weight between the two is about 4lbs. Should I just not worry about it and use what I received? Regards, Justin
  7. Thanks for the lead. I found this picture: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?&p=3&uid=2927792&gid=14620511&&imgid=219723177#top Justin
  8. Do you have any pictures of this? What sized square tubing did you use? Justin
  9. I'm going to be doing a full cage in my car. I was thinking I should weld a tube inside the rockers before I install the cage. I want to make the rockers more rigid for safe reasons mostly. I will likely cut out the sheet metal from the outside to weld a tube inside. Does anyone have any pictures or recommendations how to do this properly? Justin
  10. Nice!!! Looks really clean! Justin
  11. There is also http://www.CrazedList.org If you are using firefox you just need to download the developer plugin and it works great for searching whole regions. Justin
  12. Would it be OK to start a monthly thread of craiglist Z Car adds? "March 2008 Craiglist Ads" I think this would be good for those that watch craiglist. I am always on there looking for a good deal on a 240z. Just figured we as a community could post good deals in a single thread to help the community out. Regards, Justin
  13. I feel that he's doing just fine for what he has. He got that set of wheels new for $550 shipped. Plus he got the tires cheap! The wheel company only makes a 10" wide rim in that model. He's just doing the best he can with what is affordable. I think he is doing a great job at that. Justin
  14. I just wanted a bigger version of this picture: And Also Maybe this one? My monitor is set to 1280 X 1024 so thats as big as I'd want really. Regards, Justin
  15. Thanks for the words of caution Hugh! I commute from Beaverton to Hillsboro on my bike so its not to crazy. Traffic is reasonable the way I commute so I feel fairly safe. Justin
  16. BTW, what 5 lug conversion method did you use? Z31 front hubs? Redrilled stubs in the rear? Did you have to use spacers for this wheel set? Justin
  17. Wow that looks great! I think I'm going to be a copy cat... Justin
  18. Just wondering who else commutes to work on a bicycle? I've started riding mike bike to work and school and man do I feel better health wise. Helps out a ton with stress Anyway, Just wondering if any other car guys riding to work? Justin
  19. My current commuter when I'm not driving the Z is my Giant TCR. I've been considering just parking my z and not worrying about driving for now. I've done this though in the past and its nice to have a car to drive when I "NEED" to. IE hot dates Justin
  20. Well I've decided I want to get a SC300. I plan on retiring my 280z to racecar status once I buy one. Justin
  21. No real progress to post. I am still collecting parts. I received my bad dog replacement frame rails today. I'm also waiting for my 1.25" die set to show up from Protools. I'm going to mount the seats to 1.25" X 0.065" round tubing. Justin
  22. Sad. Gotta live life while you still have it... Justin
  23. Did you order direct from the company or over ebay? Justin
