  1. I'm going to welding in some custom seat mounting points in my 280z. I will be reworking the tunnel area where the catalytic converter usually is. This should give me the required width to fit the s2000 seats I have fairly lower. Should I mount the seats as low as possible? Are there any guidelines I should be thinking about when mounting these seats? Thanks, Justin
  2. The TB48 can be a monster of an engine: Brian Crower makes parts for them as well: http://www.briancrower.com/makes/nissan/tb48.shtml Justin
  3. You shouldn't have to run a spacer on the rear if you run a 8" rear coilover spring and get the spring collar above tire. Justin
  4. You can imagine how this would lengthen the control arm in this picture: Justin
  5. For those that know more about suspension geometery,is a longer control arm always better on McPherson strut assemblies? I'd imagine the camber change is less per length of travel with a longer arm. What if you built a longer control arm, and essentially mounted the control arm directly to the bottom of the hub mounting plate. Here are a couple pictures of what I was thinking: If this idea is totally dumb please put me in my place Regards, Justin
  6. Are the hubs and splines the same for Z32TT and Q45? I have the z32TT diff and axels, but haven't been able to find the hubs and brake setup just yet. If I could source these components from a q45 I'd been in better shape. Regards, Justin
  7. Heres my 280z that I'm currently driving. It just has so many little bugs. I either need to spend a good amount of money making it more driveable, or get a second car. Keep the ideas coming guys! I'm really tempted to get a Lexus SC300! BTW, Heres a list of my current annoyances: All locks except the hatch won't unlock from outside with key. Heater Core leaks and is unhook Car runs really rough when it is below 40 degrees and hasn't warmed up for 5-10 minutes Seats aren't bolted down(s2k seats that I need to weld in brackets for) No stereo No Carpet Stinks a lot more since the CAT blown Headlight switch in column stopped working so they are currently wired to stay on all the time except for when the car is cranking over Front diff mount is blown Fuel pump is on its way out Need to install Bad Dog frame rails Damn, I need to work on this car. I didn't drive it regularly since a month ago, but listing all these things out makes me realize how lazy I've been in keeping up with work. Justin
  8. Would it be possible to widen the rear track width with this setup? Basically pushing the hub out further from the control arm and strut? mabe lengthening the LCA's, and axels, but keeping the struts in the same position. Also, would it be a possible option to move the wheels back, centering them in the wheel wells? I currently have sourced the differential and axels from a Z32TT, what other parts must I source to go along with this kit? Best Regards, Justin Olson
  9. What does that cross member cost? Justin
  10. Bump! So would a 225F / 250R spring rates be fine for wet handling? Tokico struts I will be doing camber plates front and rear. I'm going to get some 225/50-15 or 205/50-15 tires next on my current 15"X7". ST 240z sway bars. I think if I get the major body lean out of the car it won't lift the inside tire so bad and get it spinning. I'll be staying open diff for a while on this car. Justin
  11. I had the same concern with putting a LSD in my car. I have been doing some funny 40+mph one tire fires going down the on ramp. The car has always been very stable while the inside tire is spinning as I go down the ramp. I'm curious if I would get myself in a lot of trouble with a LSD that would break both tires loose. Justin
  12. I realize the rotating assembly needs to be concentric. I figured it was spacing the control arm back or something. I need to bring this up with TTT when I get closer to ordering the R230 setup. Justin
  13. My 280z is stock suspension wise and has 15X7 wheels with 225/60-15's (I know too big). It also has a open differential. I've been having some "fun" lately with the wet weather up here in Portland. What would be the best next upgrades for me to make my car more predictable in the wet? What should I shoot for as far as spring rates go? I figure I would want something fairly compliant for a dual purpose car that will see wet weather. Regards, Justin
  14. For me, I want a NA car for daily driving. I dont want to have another turbo car. We don't get much snow in portland. Its really not an issue here. My roommate has a 2002 ranger 4X4 and the other a jeep so I'm set for camping/mountain vehicles. I really would like a 2.5RS impreza, but I think I like them too much. I really need a car that I won't be tempted to do anything to as I have too many of those already. I just want a car I will get in and it will take me to the destination of my choice. Kinda lame I can't control myself enough to have a cool car that I don't MOD. Another thought is a Audi A4 2.8L 30v quattro (99-01). Those cars aren't too bad for price. Parts would be higher tho. Justin
  15. Well I need ideas for a new daily driver as driving my 280z every day is driving me nuts. I fix one thing, and two new things break My budget is up to 6000, but I would be fine spending half that if I could find a decent deal. I'm a college student and work full time. I was thinking of the following: 240sx SC300 honda civic bmw z3 (not sure on maintenance cost) mazda miata bmw e36 (not sure on maintenance cost) acura legend coupe acura cl coupe subaru impreza subaru outback subaru legacy Anyway, just curious if people have recommendations for what to look at and what to not look at. Justin
  16. Wow that looks great. Are those s14 or z32 5 lug hubs? Justin
  17. Here's Oatmilks 2jz conversion showing the interference:
  18. Mmm, I didn't know that. So there you have it. Dry sumps are streetable I don't really know if it buys once much with the 2JZ as the crank dampener and or oil pan gets very close the the cross member and steering rack. Justin
  19. Those look really clean! They look alot like fikse wheels to me.
  20. Cost and complexity are the two downsides I can think of. The Corvette Z06, Porsche GT3 and most all Ferrari's come with dry sumps. I wouldn't be too worried about running one in a street car if you were using a quality pump. Regards, Justin
  21. Ah, I had a brain fart. I was thinking of the 93-98 land cruiser 4.5L inline 6 (1fzfe).
  22. I'm a dope. I googled "Huck & Chuck Enterprises 240z" and came up with a bunch of SCCA results ??
