I got it working makes 110 amps at around 130 volts its pretty wild i can plow 5/32 right through 3/16 plate like its butter!!! we got abit drunk today and fashioned a 'cart' out of that shopping cart ill post pics of the machine all setup and ready to weld tomorow its pretty awesome!

well today we took the 3 hp electric back gota 7hp gas rehooked it all up STALLED IT DEAD. so took that back got a 5 hp electric we'll try that out tomorow see what happens haha to much time on our hands haha!

So boys the welder lives and works!!! kind of...... now I know why they said minum 5hp The first time around the alternator was Too small and died.took that one back told em it didnt work heh heh good ole crappy tire... So this time we went and got a used 88 dakota 120 amp one WORKS GREAT. You can start a good solid bead at around 80 volts and it builds to about 12 amps and the motor STOPS DEAD.... So saturday we're going to go get a 10hp motor and we'll run a full bead more than just a little puttle! The dimmer switch switch to control the voltage to the motor works really good except that it draws about 45 amps and gets so fricken hot you cant touch it as I found out......... will find another one of those on saturday too alright Ill get some more pics out on sat. Iam actualy going to pickup a MM175 when my taxs are done! the cart was actualy in the bushs up the street Just went an pulled it out... Mattsun you gota 78 RUST Free Shell?? What do you want for it????? my car is so rusty I dont know if I even want to start!!

my car that I have to work with Has MORE RUST than that im considering getting rid of it and starting with something else but I havnt been able to find another car

i dont think fuel will ever touch it or it shouldnt if the o-ring holds but incase it fails again I want some kind of backup to hold it all in and hold the pieces together Ill have to take some pics we ended up filling the entire top end with JB weld I had to grind it all out the thing looks like hell but the top piece is actualy really thick! so there is lots of meat left to work with Iam conisdering gettin it welded throuh work since I cant seam to find anything to do the job

its for the rear one it yea for sure I deffinatly dont want leaking at all... i already had that problem.. JB Weld failed the first time around but iam thinkin with a new O RING it might work since basically it was totaly pinched off from the factory

Anyone know a good product that will seal 2 pieces of aluminum and hold pressure in I got a bran new fuel pump that had a defective seal so I dismantled it with a die grinder as the top was crimped together. I got a new o-ring But I want to seal the 2 halves tight without it spilting apart again..basically a permant solution short of welding as I dont have a tig and iam not about to pay a shop to do it around here (costs a damn arm and leg) I might try some JB Weld just not sure if it will hold tight enough

was using a car battery will get it figured out later alternator died haha i took it back going to have to wait to find another 130 amp one there is none in town iam goona hit the wreckers tomorow see what I can find outa the scrap yard and ill rehook it up I found my error so ill get it working now.

what a complete and total waste of time and money, hell if you want to get looks buy a car worth looking at in the first place dont need to mutilate something that could actualy be decent now this is a candidate for the crusher. its like domestic rice.......

I picked some up today it strikes a small ARC but again its only making fricken 3 amps.... you cant burn anything with that... altho it was making 37.88 volts steady..will try a ford one apperntly they are the way to go.

hell I could only get 3 amps out of this GM alternator so took it back but everything is closed have to find a Ford alternator tomorow.. you can return stuff till 9 at crappy tire but you cant get new parts! atleast from the parts counter

well so far it is just a quick mock up that took wayyy wayyy wayy wayy to long! but once we get it working properly heck ya ill make a schematic and such heres the pics of the quick mock up it sort of works its making 37 volts not sure how many amps enough to START an arc but not burn a 5/32 stick... ohh ya that shopping cart had being in the bushs up the street for about a week so I went and scooped it heh heh makes a great cart! the battery there was only six volts and wouldnt work we were powering the unit out of my buddys car there its a beater anyway haah

Well it took us about 8 hours to get to this point and alota beers and trips around town tryin to find all the parts for cheap but here it is and it actualy works sorta.. I had some 5/32 rod and it couldnt burn it proply but iam goona get some smaller tomorow and get it workin right once we get it to burn sticks properly and can regulate the output were going to switch it over to to a tig machine once its done ill have a 130 amp welder with a 100% duty cycle ok have to post pics tomorow photobucket is being super lame and wont lemme login
