Well my Z31 RB25 swap is going well i have a spare cross member i am modifying to get the motor mounted up after i pull the VG this sunday:mrgreen: i am tearing down the RB right now and i am havin problems getting the cam sensor off the timing cover are there more than 3 bolts hodling it on i see where it looks like there might be 3 screws on the end the sensor but they have no heads so i thought they were guide pegs i can't locate my thumb drive with my service manual on it at present so any input or suggestions would be helpful as this is the only thing holding up the teardown
  3. any recomendations on ring improvment then. i was planning on doing camsand valve train since its a good idea anyways whe doing cams and changing the bearings and seals and such ot sure if i am going to do rods and pistons both are forged from the factory if i am not mistaakin. may do pistons to lower the compression ratio a bit
  4. so what would you guys recoomend for over 500hp? i am droppin an RB25 into my Z31 and i am using a greddy intake with Q45 throttle body, 700cc injectors a SARD fuel rail, and a tubular top mount exhaust manifold with an external wastegate. i to have been having turbo sizing issues as i want a resonable spool up
  5. i have seen them on ebay for the RB25 and RB26. i am on alimited budget but i am kinda leery of buying. i have heard you should avoid the SS autochrome stuff. if you end up getting an OBX i am curious as to the quality
  6. yeah thats the cowl hood. they have a few different ones including a nice venturi style one or i should say a reverse scoop for air travel and carbon fiber fenders. the japanese place that is thanks though
  7. no pics on this computer but i have an 86 and an 85 Z31 300zx the RB will be going into the 86 as soon as i get the body work done and the wiring harness:icon45:
  8. ahh ok i think i actually came across that site in my searches. i like to shop around so i was lookign for other sources that weren't japanese my friend kyoko is already up to her ears getting pricing on my carbon fiber hood and fenders and pricing on shipping to detroit metro. she knows nothing about cars lol thanks for the info
  9. are there any good sources for RB25 valvetrain parts? also are you able to use RB26 valve train stuff in an RB25. i am used to VG motors and this is my first foray into the relm of RB stuff:-D
  10. just so happens i have a japanese friend who's boyfriend still lives in japan I did do an image search and i could not find any good rear shots. i just want to know what if any style of Fairlady Z badge was on the car in japan and what special badging was used on the 200ZR as of now i have had no luck with either
  11. i have looked into it a bit but i have not been able to really locate even a picture of the badging on a Z31 fairlady Z (300zx) escially a 200zr i am adding some JDM flare to my car ( including some R33 skyline tail lights) but i wanted to have some original badging i have both an 85 and 86 Z and the RB motor is going into the 86. so any suggestions on where to look or anybody know where to buy some?
  12. ahh ok i was wondering how you accounted for the difference in angle between the Z31 mounts and the RB's
  13. anybody know of a good place with nice pricing for a greddy style intake and cams and valve springs. and tubular top mount turbo manifold? i have been looking with little success for stuff that is not outragously priced or kinda chincy lookin
  14. ok so it looks as if you welded adapter plates in and then reinforced them did you modify the crossmember in any other way?
  15. i actually have a bunch of RB wiring diagrams i will see if i have any for the 200zr any where most of what i have is RB20 stuff that woudl have come in R33 chassis stuff
  16. the coil packs just pop directly onto the plugs and there should be like 2 bolts that hold each one down
  17. ahh i see. i guess what i was also wondering is, is the rad cap on the raditor? since the cap and its housing is mounted on the engine basically. i am concerend with easy access to the cap. i was going to fab a like a "mid-pipe" with the fitting for the cap on it so it would be close to the same place as the old one for ease of access
  18. does anybody know if the 4 piston Z32 calipers bolt up like they do on 240sx's or is it just the 2 piston j30's? also i am curious what u are doing about the radiator and cap location?
  19. yeah i am disapointed with the RB25det i got from osaka the intake manifold had a hole in it and there are some wires cut that should not have been i am hoping most of the stuff is ok. i did not complain do to the distance and the fact i am replacing everything anyways
  20. i really like that hood i wanted a 200zr hood for my z Where did you get CF fenders?
  21. once i get eveything mocked up i will let you know about steering hoses have you gotten that parts cars yet? i am pullin my VG sunday and will be doin the body work soon so lemme know when you are doen with it so i can arrange for a trailer to come get whats left
  22. i just got my motor tuesday man and i am pullin the VG sunday i can't wait to start on mine and thanks for posting the pics of the mounts and such it has given me a good point to research more and anticipate stuff
  23. intresting. i know i have only found 2 carbon fiber hoods and that was one of them.
