well it depends . some cars use an actual gasket some use RTV. but don't use both
if there are no cracks perhaps there is a clog somewhere causing a pressure buildup before the cap. so the pressure buildup would not cause the cap to blow.
seems very odd as the cap should blow way before the gaskets
thanks for the great info and insite on this thread guys i am starting my Z31 project soon ( motor is on the way and car is part way stripped already)
its nice to know the quirks before hand
looks like there might be 3 RB25 powered Z31's before to long
2 of which are in michigan ( weird)
well technically all you have to do is run a bypass on the neutral safty switch ( thats the "clutch has to be pushed to start thing")
i think you should hammer out the other stuff before you even think about starting the motor.
ok i have been looking at the misc threads about getting info for my impending RB swap into my 85 Z31 and i have not seen any links for wiring and vacuum diagrams for the RB25
a translated factory service manual would be nice
if i missed it forgive me but i have not seen anythign as of yet so any help in pointing me in the right direction woudl be nice
well its 2 strikes. its actually an automatic and a coupe. so i do not think the driveshaft will work.
i will keep my eyes open though as i am looking for an 87-88 turbo with the factory LSD as the parts car has an open diff ( albeit with better gearing than my 85)
i am buyin it mainly for interior parts and the body panels as well as an engine i can build while i still drive mine:mrgreen:
i will have an 88 n/A parts car at the end of the month. i am using it to replace a few front end parts damaged when i hit a really big dog a few months ago
i have an 85 z31 and i was wondering if anybody has used the body panels on a later z31 on an older one and if they bolt right up or do they require slight modification
any input would be nice:-o
i have seen a few different z cars with the vk45 in it. they had a g35 skyline with a twin turbo setup in it in SCC not to long ago courtesy of the Top secret garage in japan
its as i always have said nissans are like legos
well i guess it depends on what weight oil you run in it.
mine runs around that when i am running 10w40 in it during the cold months
and in the summer it runs a little higher, but not much, when i run the 20w50 in it
are you having a problem ?
silvias are done to death. i drift my 85 300zx all the time and the suspension holds up just fine. plus you can adapt differet suspensions to the car if you are really concerned about it. weight is not a real issue in the drift, its the weight transfer and your ability to control it. plus you could strip a 280 down enough to free up alot of weight. remember carbon fiber is your best friend
i would suggest working on it as a drift car to be different from the rest of the guys getting 240's. just because you have a silvia does nto mean you can drift. if you can drift the 280 you are already a step ahead of a guy with a 240
