  1. This what I run at work. I would call it a machine more than a tool, but its still neat. Here is my newest purchase. the only bad part about buying a cart or box is having to buy things to fill it up!
  2. are you wanting to swap this into a Z, or something else. A rabbit w/TDI and suspension could be a very fun car.
  3. Thats a sharp looking car.... I really like it. the kit car that is. well the mangusta is cool too.
  4. A third plus is not having to worry about air staying under the hood
  5. yeah, I didnt check the math, I just was thinking while typing
  6. Is there enough room to fit the KA24 rods in there? IIRC they are 167mm long.
  7. dang, that stinks. Though it is good that you didnt get the car and find all this out in your driveway....
  8. Weak clutch as well, for the wieght of a car anyways I like the idea of say a hyabusa powered classic mini, or lotus7 clone, or a smart car, but anything heavier would be no fun.
  9. Hey did your deal fall through? It just showed up forsale again on seattle craigslist
  10. DAW is (or was) running a gas converted LD28, if you search by his user name im sure you will find info on it. IIRC he was using all LD internals (pistons, rods, crank) and a N42 head I believe.
  11. There is a diesel max forum somewhere, ive been to it before but cant seem to remember it. IIRC they were talking 30mpg over there. I just woke up, so my memory could be foggy....
  12. I highly doubt the LD would make more than 100hp with modest boost and correct fuel enrichment. For a diesel it isnt doesnt get terribly good milage either. Ive also read bio-diesel has roughly 12% less energy than dino-diesel, so you would be fighting that loss as well. The LD also uses a cast iron head and beefier internals so it is heavier, especially if you hang a turbo off the side. I dont have the time to read that site right now, but those are just some things to think about. There is a guy here in seattle that has a 5spd LD28 car for sale, and a automatic one as well. If you do decide to go through with it.
  13. http://www.hidplanet.com has do it yourself LED how to articles I think. A whole panel of them in the tail lights/signals would be pretty sweet. Look in the 'forums' section. My results with the LED replacement bulbs is also dim, and with the turnsignals it has a tendancy to speed them up a whole lot, making it look like youve got a light out somewhere. This is yet another project on my 'sometime down the line' list that keeps getting longer!
  14. I saw that on craigslist a few weeks ago. Looks like a decent buy to me!
  15. VW, Audi, and MB all use aluminum heads on thier passenger diesel cars, and have since the mid 70's.
  16. are you running stock cams? 7900 is higher than I thought it would go
  17. dang, I was wondering how long that would stay together.
  18. Looks like a flybrid to me... ok all joking aside there should be more pics
  19. If you feel like driving out to monroe, I could do them for you.
  20. The Z car mech here swears that you need to use a OEM thermostat.... I personally dont believe it, I havent had any issues with FLAPS thermostats. Another thing to check, well with what I know of your car, make sure there is nothing restricting airflow to your radiator. Also check to make sure your fan clutch is in working order.
  21. With the pics so small, it looks like a hotwheels car. Good luck on shutting it down
  22. Good lighting is awesome in any shop. I upgraded my garage a year or so ago, and I dont know how I could see before. Congrats
