  2. Please do. Thank you, Paul Ruschman
  3. Like the new avatar. The 4 cylinder crank ideer.. Hmmm… In theory that should work fine. Though finding one with correct bore spacing, main bearing width, main bearing journal diameter and main bearings, etc, to fit a V-8 block might be a long shot, even with some mild to moderate block and crank modification for it to fit... Any “long” 4 cylinders out there? Maybe a Volvo or Mercedes 2.3, 2.5 or something similar? Might fit the VH45/41 or the 1uz-fe?.... Hmmm…. OTM might know…
  4. Thank you for chiming in. Any pics of your Z-32? Thanks for the info regarding brakes. My only brake upgrade is the Specialty Z rotors and pads, stock size, (Baer rotors), and couldn’t more pleased for “stock sized” brakes, noticeably more consistent braking when being abusive, vs the Brembo drilled/slotted rotor and Metal Master pads, (probably not as nice as the larger rotor and caliper kits available, but down right impressive for such small diameter brakes). I don’t know much about the OE ABS other than mine is only a 2 channel, front and rear, (‘93 model), so for tight autocross events, “when” the inside front tire locks up, the ABS kicks in affecting both front tires and is slow to turn itself off once the tire regains traction, (the delay in disengaging itself is very noticeable in low traction situations such as gravel, etc). For Autocross duty, disabling the ABS should allow for slightly quicker lap times allowing the driver to modulate threshold braking. I would imagine that on a road course, the ABS might be just fine? What’s your experience and opinion of the ABS on road courses Jehannum? Any other mods other than brakes? My ’96 Infiniti Q-45 has three channel ABS, when it was road worthy as my daily driver, its ABS was much quicker and more responsive and accurate to adjusting braking, and also quicker disengage itself once the tires regained traction. The thought has crossed my mind to install my Q’s ABS in the Z-32, though, that in itself will be a big project, and not sure if the Q-45 ABS/ECU will pay well in the Z-32? When the V-8 conversion starts, I’ll be looking into that little more. 20 minutes to Remove the plenum? Too bad you don’t live closer. I’d like to know the tricks to the get the plenum off in under 2 hours! The Dremel trick for injector R&R is a life saver for sure.
  5. Good question. I don’t know if the body shop did or didn't. I’ll have to look into that. Thank you for the heads up. Paul
  6. Gollum, or is it Tree Beater (you do know the tree analogy is all in jest right?,) Dual plane V-8’s do start to loose that rough raw rumble bumble sound when they get above 7000 RPM, (and sound pretty cool at that, i.e. NACAR 8500+ RPM). Problem though is keeping at above 7000 RPM all the time. So with dual plane and traditional exhaust configuration, we are stuck with rumpity rough sounding exhaust note. Dual plane may sound nice at above 7000 RPM but it still isn’t that “exotic” Ferrari V-8, F-1 , Indy car, or inline 4 sport bike sound, even it is spinning 10,000 RPM! Just to throw a couple more dual planes high RPM V-8 out there… Here is a Twin Turbo VH45DETT. Sounds typical V-8 at low RPM, then at the one minute mark… boost and RPMs!!! OMG!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_cRQhW7nj8 Another VH45DE, this time in one of our members S-30. At 34 seconds, and 45 seconds, and 1 minute 7 seconds, 7000 RPM the dual plane sounds great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oNzb-PQI1k Here is another Twin Turbo Yoter V-8, At full song sounds amazing, around 7000-7500 RPM. Just imagine if those three V-8’s above and the one you posted, if they had a single plane crank, or at least 180 degree headers?!?!? These single plane V-8’s are revving to similar RPMs, you can “feel” the difference... Exotic like this…. OMG!!! Single plane V-8 exhaust note.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LdaNknrWxs And Oh-yeah BABY!!!, another Single plane V-8 exhaust note.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gF8hueY7LU Sorry, but NO dual plane can compare to this!!!! Another Single plane V-8 exhaust note.. Full body chills… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8t8kHWkRFo
  7. I’ve seen mention of the Yoter V-8 here a few times and its rev-ability, (on paper any how it looks comparable to the VH41DE and VH45DE, just shy a few CC’s). But no mention of anyone using 180 degree headers or a single plane crank to get that the “exotic sounding” High RPM V-8 exhaust note this thread is about? Emphasis on the term “exotic sound”, like a sport bike or Ferrari V-8.
  8. Sure thing... Here are a couple of mine…
  9. This thread linked below should help. 6 pages worth of picture of members Z cars, aptly titled, "Z car photo-shoot, post your Z" Some very NICE pics on that page… http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=121555
  10. Nikon D70s, 70-300mm lens, night time, Mercury vapor farm light, exposure-13 seconds, Fstop-16, focal length-180, Post processing w/Adobe Photoshop 7.0, only converted it to Gray scale, nothing more.
  11. Any and every single part of the EFI is part of the emission, according to federal law. Regardless of federal law, the OE EFI needs the AFM to as it helps the ECU know how much air it is breathing so the ECU can match the air that is entering the engine with the correct amount of fuel, (i.e. keep the air fuel ratio in a range the engine will run). At the bottom of this link is the EFI Bible. Haven’t read it myself, but it seems to be getting good reviews here. Also on that page are other links pertaining to the factory EFI. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/EFI&fuel.htm Good luck, Paul
  12. Looks like a GREAT score Stony. Nice looking car....
  13. Here me and Doc are busy preparing a thread for the shed.
  14. Absolutely stunning! Craftsmanship is first rate. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects. Thank you for sharing, Paul
  15. This exact topic has been covered and recovered around here. Use the search function and search for “L-28 detonation”, etc. In sort, do NOT put the N-47 head on an L-28 with Flat-top pistons. You can only increase the compression ratio so far on the L-28 with open chamber heads before detonation sets in, and at that, is VERY expensive as it will cost you a custom set of pistons. At least $600-$800 for pistons not including the rest of the rebuild parts and machine work, all for a mild bump in compression ratio that might net you 5-8 HP? Not worth it my opinion. Better places to put that sort of money for more return in power. Stock flat tops with the Z car N-47 is too much compression for premium pump gas! Again it is has been covered… Good luck, Paul Ruschman HybridZ staff
  16. Admin adjust only. Donating members, contact myself or RonTyer via HybridZ PM, (Private Message) for your title change.
  17. Guy’s. I’ll be straight up with you. You may not want to hear this and this is not a push to donate, just reality. If you are struggling to find even $5 to spend on your HybridZ, then a Z car probably isn’t the most practical transportation, especially if you have plans to Hybrid the Z. Maybe basic transportation till you get through school, get settled in a good job, then buy a Z car to Hybrid….
  18. $20 towards your Z car education is really just pennies in the big picture. Think of your HybridZ donation as an investment in your Z car. Much like a cool go fast part, but this one is only $20. Ask yourself this. If you were to purchase a "How-To" book on extreme performance Z cars, and that book was chocked full of all the incredible information, tech support, and wisdom you have gleaned from this forum, how much would you be willing to pay for that book? Oh, and the book is self updating to boot. Finding even $20 to spend our Z cars, even if just once a year is usually doable.
  19. The Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum are levels of donation and are reflected in the gold bar below your username. The more you donate, the bigger your gold bar, which is just that much more financial support to help keep this ship afloat, and for upgrades, which we are in the process of now. There is no obligation to donate. We just thought it would be nice to offer the donating members the opportunity to “choose” a custom title. Just a little perk for the donators and hopefully an incentive for others. Each and every donation is appreciated regardless of the amount. For those wanting more info on donating, how it helps, etc, read through this thread. Click ME to read thread on donating to HybridZ. Thank you guys, HybridZ Staff
  20. You’re merely a click away from being able to choose a title… Upper left corner of your screen…
  21. Ok fella’s, This is an earned privilege. Your donation earns you the privilege to choose your name. The rest of you, well, it’s a crap shoot if you get a name and what that name will be. Our mood, circumstances, and your reputation will dictate that given name. MUAHAHAHAHA Myself and RonTyler are your contacts for the Donating members title change. Titles are to be short, simple, and within reason, tasteful. We ask that you don’t bother SuperDan with title change requests as he was kind enough to give us the ability to do this and is already quite busy behind the scenes keeping this ship afloat. 22. WOW!!! what sort of gains do you expect?...
  23. Okie dokie. I finally went though and deleted the non pertinent posts, though as you can tell, this thread is still quite lengthy. It would be nice to consolidate this thread further, or spilt it into two or three threads. If one or a group of you is needing to fill up some free time and is willing to go through and read this thread and make an itemized list by post #, (upper right hand corner of the individual posts is the post number), of what posts could be merged into one post, or what posts would make for a separate thread/s, send me your idea and list via PM and I would be glad to clean this up further.
