  1. For a restoration project/stock 240-Z, I prefer the British Racing Green with Tan interior, that combo on a restored to the period sports car is quite soothing to the eye.
  2. I didn't know anyone still knows what that is! My father and I used to fly line control back in the late ‘80s. Mostly scratch built planes' date=' powered with Cox .049 and the Cox TeeDee .051. Last one I was building I never finished. Now some 19 years later, it is still setting on the shelf. [img']http://mescal.pixelized.ch/smilies/wow.gif[/img] Plan was to fly it once with a pair of Black Widow .049’s, then hang it from the ceiling. Here it is as it sits today. I lost the gondola in our move some 6 years ago. All my engines are now lined up on a shelf over looking my hobby bench. Other hobbies consist of; Flying, (the real thing) Electric RC flying, (just took this up in the last month) Driving the Z-32 Adult air rifles Amateur photography And of course starting several HybridZ projects. This is one of only a couple that ever were driven...
  3. Here was my first one, '75 280-z. Not real pretty, but somewhat separated. Here is another, much shorter wires.
  4. BRAAP

    Hahaha

Mopar, Yes it was L-6 powered. The car is now owned by another HybridZ member. Primadonna, The tires are Formula Atlantic slicks, car was built for the SCCA Solo-II F-prepared class. Rear a 13” x13”, fronts are 13” x 10”.
  5. Tony, Any chance you have any of those "cheap converters" available for testing?
  6. This thread linked below follows along the journey of more than a couple successful EDIS-6 installs on the L-6, lots of pics, details, diagrams etc. Click ME for how to EDIS install on the L-6
  7. BRAAP

    Hahaha

I think fatties look better under Yellow and on all 4 corners…
  8. Could you interpret/rephrase this for us?
  9. The fender and headlight bucket should fit. Doors and door glass are different between 2 seaters and 2+2’s. Hope that helps.
  10. This thread was purged of the elementary Datsun Diff questions/posts. If you don’t know if the 280-Z "came with" an LSD, please do NOT ask that here! If you don’t know if the Z-31 R-200 can handle V-8 power with an automatic, Don’t ask that here!!! All that stuff has been beat to death and most likely answered in other “sticky” threads, so please search and read more, and don’t ask elementary questions in the "stickys"!!!!! Please keep this on topic. Thank you, Paul Ruschman HybridZ staff
  11. Through my home stereo, these 180 degree headers give the dual plane crank V-8’s exhaust note a definite “braaaap” to its note, yet you can still make out the echoing coarse grumble of a domestic dual plane V-8. Compared to the exhaust of say a Ferrari V-8, (328, 348, 355, 360, F-40 etc,) the 180 degree headers take the domestic V-8 about half way to that pure Ferrari “braaaaap” exhaust note… that's how I hear it anyhow. You know guys, on a small Block Chevy powered S-30 Z car, there is room under the front of the oil pan to run cross pipes for a 180 degree header….. Speedway header kit, purchase a few more elbows.. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/3843,281_Speedway-Small-Block-Chevy-Header-Kits.html …and build it to look "similar" to this with the cross-overs under the forward section of the oil pan, in-front of the sump, (for SBC and SBF, the middle 2 cylinders of one bank need to communicate with the outer 2 cylinders of the other bank, not as this picture depicts.)
  12. Here are a couple more Domestic V-8’s running 180 degree headers… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pNiY8eV6NE&feature=related
  13. Naviathan, Welcome to the wonderful world D-SLR. The D-40 is a great starter D-SLR and it will serve you well. As for photographers on here, yeeupsi doodle. There are some very good photographers on here. In fact, there is a HybridZ thread dedicated to just this topic, Photography with some incredible photos that Ron and tfreer85 linked above. When you are ready to step up to the D-80, you wont regret it. The D-80 has the built AutoFocus drive motor which opens up a lot more lens options, (for some reason, Nikon left that out of the D-40 and D-40x which limits what lens, if you want autofocus capability), Looking forward to seeing some of your work… Oh, I almost forgot. There is even a dedicated Z car photo shoot thread as well… Click ME for the Z car Photo Shoot thread.
  14. Larry, That be it. I forgot to update this thread regarding the move.
  15. The fuel rail itself adds no performance to the engine. Its job is merely to be a source/reservoir of fuel for the fuel injectors, at the injectors. Sort of like a fuel plenum. On the L-28, we will generally replace the stock loop style fuel rail with a single aluminum fuel rail for aesthetics and ease of maintenance reasons. Side note. Please make some sort of an effort to punctuate your sentences, and use capitalization at the beginning and within your sentences. If you miss one here or there, no biggee but when you post like this in all of your posts, it comes across as lazy.
  16. I haven’t laughed that hard out loud in a long time… “... you are mine NEMESIS…. Oh yes.. YESSS….. You likey like that….. Nemesis… You likey like that.. Ooohh YES…. NEMISIS... ARRGHH GRUNT/GROAN….… “ MUHAHAHA!! I’m putting that on my iPod… OMG
  17. Merry Christmas to you all from the Ruschmans
  18. Finally built and flew my GWS Slow Stick. EASY to build, and just as easy to fly. Very maneuverable, easy to land, all around excellent trainer. Hammer head stalls, inside loops in less than 10 foot circle, slow flight is at a fast walk. Huge on fun factor. Wing span, 45 ½” Length, 39”
  19. Greg, Welcome to HybridZ. JT1 offered sound advice. I say if the engine is sound, install it and enjoy it. The Z should be lighter than your ‘57 so the performance should be more aggressive, (power to weight ratio). Here is THE most accurate answer you will receive with the information you provided regarding your 400 SBC power output. If it runs, it should produce between 200 ft lbs of torque and 100 HP and could make up to 480 ft lbs and 450 HP, all depends on the exact precise details of the parts used, how well those parts compliment each other on a SBC 400, and just as importantly, how well the engine was tuned, i.e. carb jetting and ignition curve. If it doesn’t run, chances are it produces 0 Ft lbs of torque and 0 HP. Unless you give us a LOT more information, this thread is on its way to the shed as this question really has no definitive answer. With such vague specs such as cam specs being between 270-279 duration, (is that seat to seat, or at .050”? what about LSA?), 470-479 lift? Manifold is “an” Edelbrock dual plane, (which one? They make a couple types of dual plane and different variations of those types), we can’t offer forth but mere arbitrary guesses and/or broad vague power ranges. Regardless of the “HP numbers”, (100 HP or 450 HP), what really matters is does that acceleration force you feel when you mash the loud pedal in the ’57 bring a smile to your face? If so, then that same engine in the Z should bring an even bigger smile due to the Z cars lighter weight. Oh, and don’t forget. With some mild to moderate parts upgrades to the suspension of the SBC powered Z car, it will carve corners with ferocious authority. If you like aggressive acceleration and you like sports cars, just do it. You wont regret it.
  20. Just my $.02. The first two, look more like bolt on blingy rice, just something to grab passerby’s initial attention. The last one looks finished, purposeful, thought out and aesthetically pleasing.
  21. Let us know what you find out. By the way, would you mind sharing more details of both cars, yours and your wifes, and possibly some time slips for us to drool over?
  22. OTM, You are absolutely 100% correct. US Spec E-88 heads have no provision for the OE EFI intake manifold mounting or injector slots. The ’75 and later heads are factory drilled/machined for OE EFI intake manifolds mounting and injector slots, N-42, N-47, P-79 and P-90.
  23. Tony, All that high tech wizardry and still using poppet valves?
