what size carb for my 350?
staledale replied to zliminator's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Zliminator, Check your power value. If you had a backfire and blew it out it will leak. Turn your idle mixture screws all the way in, and if it still idles it's getting fuel somewhere else. I ran many 750, 780's on 350's with no problems, a good rebuild might fix ya up. -

Hey Rick, Ole Porkchop is looking good. I really like it. I bet you put a lot of thought and a few golden amber drinks to come up with that hinge. How'd you attach the YZ fenders? Mine are on with self tapping screws right now. Not much surface area for gluing. Really like the wheel and tire fit. Hope to use them my self. What are your new wheels going to look like? What color are you going to paint it? Really looks good, nice work. Staledale

Got to thank all the guys here that helped me with the paint questions I've had over the years. Yes I've been cheating, I built a Cobra instead of my Z's. Main goal was to get spending money to do the 250 GTO right. Today I declared the car done. ( not till some else drives it away) it's now going on the selling block. Really have to again say thanks for all the great information you guys gave me on painting. I'm proud of that paint job. Erine (racerX) you really helped me out a lot. thanks guys here's a picture http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=8070 Happy New Year Erine .. year of the Dog isn't it?

Hey was that our Darius on the History Channel? Program with Goldberg called automaniac, aired this week. I saw some guys on a motorcycles doing some wild stunts and stopped and watched. Showed a guy named Darius falling from a 90 mph wheelie. While crazy. Looked for a Z in the background when they interviewed him, didn't see one. Anyone else see it? Staledale

Congratulations on winning the Past President's Choice trophy.. Hey second place is still good, don't tell anyone there were only two cars in that class. Hope you got plenty of pictures. See where you had a FFR Cobra. I just fired the one I'm building today. My first time with EFI, not that bad once you do it. Hope to see pics of your car soon. Staledale

How much should this LT1 240Z go for?
staledale replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hi Vinh, or is it SpyderZ ? Anyway, check the block casting numbers,, that might be an old 1970 style LT1, but the intake is a single plane not alum 2 plane, and the carb is way to small, should be a 780 cfm. It has 240z axles, and I can't see for sure but I don't think that's a vette rearend. Get the casting # off the top of the block where the bellhousing bolt on by the dist. and I'll look it up. Vinh, I live outside of Bellwood, Pa, about 100 miles west of Carlisle. I try to make that show every yr. but not sure about it this yr. Would like to see more Z guys show up there. We have a lot of nice Z's here in the east (like yours) and Carlisle Kit Car/ Import show would be a great place to meet and show off your cars. Wish some Admin would take charge and get an East coast Show going...hint, hint. I see the Cobra coupe didn't sell, guess you've got the market cornered Staledale

HI Y-Not, Wished I could make that show, but I'm on the wrong coast. Hope you take plenty of pictures. Can you post pictures of your GTO? Love to see it, and I'm sure everyone else would like to see it too. Staledale

Vinh, If I was 200 miles closer I'd gladly help you. Do you have any pictures of your friends 240Z convertible? I've got a 280z convertible I keep trying to work on. Have a set of JW's 280yx fender flairs for it. Got my 250 GTO project sitting there. I've been working on everyones cars but mine. It's a shame we can't get good Z's around here. I'd love to go west and bring back a truck load from AZ. Wish I could help you on that mold making project, I'd enjoy doing that. Staledale

Hi Vinh, while back we were looking for those cobra coupes and I remembered your old web site. I could not find it to show everyone. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=90139&highlight=cobra+coupe I always liked your yellow Z, Love that new roadster. You do damn nice work. next time I get lost in Philly I'll have to look you up and see those cars. I understand why you don't want any more of the coupes made but there's a lot of people that would like to have one. A new one wouldn't be a Nalle. Did you see the other one on E-Bay a couple of months ago? It was rough, It too was out west. Glad to see your back, kept on making those nice Z's Staledale ps, I get lost everytime I'm in Philly.

http://www.ppg.com/cr-refinish/phase1/frmHome.asp Here's the PPG site, follow the product info link and you can download the information for the type of PPG paint you are using. It has all the times, the thinner type of sand paper to use, anyting you'll need to know. If you scuff their base coat you have to respray a coat over it. They know their product best. Stale

Hi, Nice buy Scott, you from Pa? I'm about 40 miles from there and never saw it. Good price for one ready to go, Welcome to the forum and enjoy the Z. If your passing thru Bellwood Pa stop and show it off. Stale

Hey look up RacerX in Daly City.
-
I did find out it uses the old bolt pattern for the bell housing. It uses drive by wire on the injection (which this doesn't have). If I can get an intake that is cheap enough I'd buy it.
-
Tried a search but nothing came up, is it down? I'm interested in a 496 truck engine. Is it the same as the older tall truck blocks? I can get one cheap, but no fuel injection. Will the older truck block manifolds fit? I think if the you get the right ports and use a spacer the carb manifolds might work. Now, will the new ports match any of the older manifolds? I saw a marine version with a carb and distributor, but lost the site before getting any info.Might have been a GM high po web site. Any help from you Chevy guru's please............Thanks, Stale

American woodworker had an article in the Oct 2004 issue on removing rust off old tools. They used 1 tbs. of Arm and Hammer super washing soda from the laundry aisle at grocery store, mixed with 1 gallon of water. The pos. side of a battery charger was hooked to an iron rod, out side of the water. they bent the rod so it went around the tool (without touching it )and up out of the water. They ran a jumper wire to the tool and hooked the negative to that. I guess this is hard on the battery clips so they are kept out of the soup. The tool had little wooden blocks under it so the bottom would get clean. Bubbles indicates that the process is working. When the bubbles stop the rust is gone. It took a day and a half to clean a wood plane. There was an orange sludge that went to the iron rod that they claim is nontoxic and can be poured down the drain. Hope that helps a little. Stale

Hi RacerX, How bout Z chrome by clausen? Hey, with a name like that it has to be good. Here's a link to the ebay mustang that Rad rods by Troy did. They talk about "Honey" what are they mixing with it? I just sparyed the Z chrome on a 31 model A today and I'll let it sit a week or so and see how it sands. http://66.139.75.240/story5-1.html

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7929570041&category=33648 mechspec@netcomuk.co.uk Hi Y-Not, Here is a couple links to a guy that sells MGB trunk latches for $25 that are close to the same thing. Just wonder if you can get the locks and keys to match on all three latches.

That might be a trade off, the power gained might be lossed to the power needed to drive the vacuum pump. This system is a small HP gain, 22 hp might be a little over inflated. Max gain is going to be in the higher rpm range. (6,000 - 7,000). Wheres Grumpy Vette? I'm sure he'd have knowlege on this subject. Stale
