  1. thanks rob do you have a pic showing what you are discribing? i dont have a r30 head gasket is it just the one water port or more? If u could tell me which ones it would help alot. oh yea does the oil line for the vct have to be hooked up or can i just block it off? I dl'd the rb30dohc pdf but it is very vauge on the rb25det head.
  2. LOL ok i'll send it back after i build the motor
  3. Jitter, yea i wil be around. Rob as far as i know the only thing that needs to be changed is the oil feed for the vct. Is there anything else that needs to be done to use it?
  4. detonation killed mine but only the number 5 piston is bad in mine judging from the compression test. I wouldnt just put 25psi on any engine without understanding how to tune it. It was my fault it broke but it did take a hell of a beating before breaking and still runs. I have a t3/t4hybrid turbo on my rb25, do a little more searching with the guys with different turbos to see how they perform and compare. Mine has a .70ar ont he compressor a 60-1 wheel and on the exhaust side i have a full t4 trubine with a stock t3 housing machined out to accept the t4 wheel.
  5. yep bottom end will handle a ton along with the rb25 tuning is the key to any motor. I was running 25+psi on the stock bottom end of my rb25det and it took it no prob. The only reason mine failed was due to tuning with the haltech i have, problem is fixed now tho .
  6. holy crap!!! yea mine is much thicker than that one musta made a heck of a noise!!
  7. Thanks for the warning, this is my second intake like this. Evan has my first one and beleive me they wont bow it's not really sheet metal its more like plate and it is about 1/4 inch thick we got a ton of it lying around the shop so i used the big sheer and cut some pieces, tacked it up with an aluminum mig welder then had my buddy tig weld it for me.
  8. more pics guys, i finally got the intake welded, man can my buddy weld and a pile of parts getting one more tote tomorrow for the head. oh yea the bearings came in too, just need the pistons, rods and gasket set and i can start building the engine. Im just happy im making progress:D
  9. not sure about the halwin but with my e6k it is selectable thru the closed loop menu. Hope this helps
  10. thanks for the link bernardd great info exactly what i am looking for guys
  11. anything u got or anyone has. just the turbo and what is normally comes on, My td08 has a t4 flange on it so it.i find it much easier to find info on things when they are under one topic. Im just lazy tho
  12. guess im the only one looking for turbos from other cars and trucks. oh well i'll post what ones i find out for those who need the info.
  13. stealth, what are you getting machined, if you dont mind me askin?
  14. Hey guys, i did a search and i couldn't really find anything on what turbos are known to come in what vehicles. I thought it would be a good idea to put up a topic with KNOWN turbo applications that we could use to get parts or get a good turbo from. After a bunch of searching the net i did find in one place that the MHI td08 turbo i needed comes in the mitsubishi fuso with the higher hp engine in it. I do know that the MHI td04 comes in the 80's turbo sunbirds too. If you guys have any info it might help some ppl out, if we get a few maybe we can sticky it?
  15. the block is fine raff, had my buddy check it out and he said that if the block wasn't built like a sherman tank he would worry about it and weld it. He also said that welding cast is possible but he was afraid to weaken it more than strengthen it. I trust him, and your right can't beat the price that u gave us Anyway if anything does break i know of a guy that can get me another I will have the whole rb25 left anyway so if it does break i will have a quick back up to drop in.
  16. thanks jeff, hey send me a pm with ur number again if u could, i lost all the data in the phone and had to do a back up so i lost ur number. I saw ur post about the new ic, (it looks like my old one) glad to see u got her going again.
  17. well as the title states i finally started the build.... kinda i got a head from birdmanz(thanks again man) and i just bought a new/used turbine for my greddy t88 turbo and have her all assembled. I had a buddy donate some rb26 cams and i am getting the solid lifters from someone on fresh alloys. I also just bought an engine stand so i can get that sweet block i got from careless (raff u tha man)on the stand and start the build.... actually also wanna thank racinjitter for gettin my block for me and helping convince me to go rb30 i'll get pics tomorrow if i get time, work has me going like crazy so any spare time is going twords the car. I started the 280yz kit on the 280, so i am moddin everything to fit. I doubt i will actually get to drive it this year but when it does get back on the road it will be saweet. I have a c5 vette irs for the rear(scottiegnz inspired me on this one) sittin in the back yard waiting for the body kit to be dun. All my spare time and money are going into thie z this year, i blew it off the last two years for other projects. I will be updating this topic when i get it for those who wanna see i am so excited that it will finally be the way i want it
  18. looks really good jeff, much better than when i saw it How does it run?
  19. yep it'll clear i had no problems on my 280 with it fitting even with my t3/t4e hybrid turbo.
  20. do you still have the stock one? if so take a good pic and post it up i as can many on here can compare it. Another thing u can do is make your own out of the stocker. I made two so far and i am making another for jitter.
  21. wish mine was running if i dont have a ton going on maybe i'll bring my smoking slow s 10
  22. if you didn't see this post here are some tranny mounts http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=132032 very nice write up Bryan
  23. if you have the patience and skill then do it yourself. I did mine after reading just about every sticky on the top of this forum about two to three times. Mine took me a weekend to put the motor and tranny in and then probably another solid day to make my haltech work with it. It is a very nice feeling to get her all dun and stand back and say yep i did that, it was a biotch but i did that also if something goes wrong or bad down the road(which it will believe me) you will have the knowledge to fix it. just my two cents
  24. i have a friend that does carbon fiber work he has made many parts and would make me a hood but it would be expensive, he could make any part i want but i haven't found anything that i want done yet except for my wing.I plan to ask him tomorrow about the wing cost.
  25. Pirate pretty much said it all but here is my two cents i did mine in two days i ran 27psi on my rb25 but definately not on the stock turbo. Mine was fast as hell but then im not running the stock ecu either. Stock clutch can't handle much more power over stock, at 11psi on my t3/t4 hybird was all it could hold anything over that and it would slip.
