Hey guys, I've got a broken exhaust stud on my 82 zx na. So I figured if I have to take the intake and exaust manifolds off I might as well add a header. This is my first time tearing into the Datsun and it looks like a real pain! Does anybody have any helpful tips, or time saving tricks?
Find yourself a long screwdriver, put your ear to the handle, use it like a drs. stethoscope and you can probe around to pinpoint the area of the noise,ie. lifters, injectors, rod knock (yikes!) It really works no BS.
the owner of the car lives near me and I got his # right away, I'm planning on looking at it this weekend. If it's half decent I'll probably tow it home and part it out. I'm only interested in a few interior parts, so the rest would be up for grabs.
So the wife and I went to the local drive-in with my "cool" car, had some great ice cream, and when I tried to start it, it sputtered coughed and maybe even backfired!! Suddenly my cool car looked like a P.O.S.!! It didn't want to idle very smooth either, after a few revs it cleans up and runs fine. It has done this to me twice now. Any Ideas??
I know all you Z veterans are pretty sick of answering the same questions over and over, and most of the answers can probably be found in some boring old archive, but it's alot more fun to pick your brains and get a fresh spin on things! So with that said, I'm curious about using a 2+2 clutch in my 82 which is stock (for now) is it needed? does it help? what mods need to be done to make it work? Thanks.
