I would suggest a search for "alternator upgrade" or something like that...I think someone was selling a plug -n- play adapter that allowed the use of a 280zx alternator....cant remember if it was on here or just on CZC.

This is normal for an externally regulated alternator
  3. On with the first setup. Engine is a L-28 with about 10:1 CR, tripple webers, stage III cam I am running a stock 225mm flywheel and a Centerforce II clutch. I do not like the clutch..hold fine and engages smoothly, but the damn thing is noisy at idle. I think the inertia weights are the culprit and have removed the tranny more than once to inspect the clutch assy to make sure it aint broke. I just sourced a Maxima flywheel (Y70) and intend on installing a new clutch assy. Has anyone used a sachs unit on a L-6? Any other recomendations besides centerforce?
  4. I know, I know it has hashed over many times, but just to get it straight and possibly put as a sticky. I want to ask about L-6 N/A clutch choices. I specify N/A because as alot of us have found out, some brands (center force) do not hold up well to the quick onset of power that turbo motors provide. More specifically, what are some of you guys ussing in your hot N/A L-6 powered s-30 zcars.
  5. Silicone silly, much more natural. Brazillian Wax or Miami Landing Strip
  6. If I remember right, you have a L24, and are using 30mm chokes, your idle timing is about 30 (WHEW thats high). right? Step one, bring that idle timing down to say 20...if you are still using a stock l24 dizyy I would set the timing @ 3000 rpm no greater than 38deg. The 45F9 should be just fine for your motor....try the timing first..of course you will have to re-tune the rest all of it after that...timing is critical in these carbs. NO VACUUM advance. Set your idle speed at about 900-1100 rpm. Ensure your throttle plates are covering the progression holes..IE NO MORE than 1/2 screw in on the throttle stop screws. Balance Balance Balance...If it sounds like a daunting task....take the drive to Vegas one weekend, and I will help / teach you how to set them up.

  8. Yeah I was wondering which set of arms would allow camber and toe adjustments without removing the spindle pin.
  9. Mortal Kombat, but only the arcade one...ie you gotta feed it with quarters Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan as 007
  10. Oh I learned my lesson with that many many years ago...like 20...I was driving my fathers 240 from Shelby, NC to Charlotte. I was exiting US 74 onto I-85N at abot 90ish MPH in 3rd gear. All of a sudden...."WHOOSH"...and I was like "WTF over". Turns out the car had backfired (REAL BACKFIRE) into the front carb (3 x 40DCOE) and it caught fire. Ever since then I have been real careful with the jetting on the carbs....Its funny though..I still "feel" like I get a better reading from smell / sound / feel than the oxy sensor gives me, but I do pay attention to it. I know I am rich right now esp at cruise, but I am going to chassis dyno tune the car once I get the new diff installed. BTW the fire destroyed the original engine in his 240....which gave us an excuse to install a 2.8 bored 1mm over and top it with a nice Janspeed (England) head. Damn that car would fly. On a side note...the only carb part that survived the fire were the chokes...33mm to be exact....and they are still in use today on my engine.
  11. What you failed to tell them was that in both cases we were working well past the 20hr maximum, and that I spit out explitives that would make a sailor cry.
  12. I have sourced a 4.3 diff from the 720 truck, that should cure the low rpm problems, and I am going to reduce the idle jet to a 50f9
  13. What difference, you are still stuck with oral. AMD or Intel
  14. Yes I did, All of my electric add ons (MSD, relays, etc) are mounted inside the cabin to keep tham out of the elements, as well as to see the fire thats coming
  15. Ok nback on topic... MILF or College Co-ed
  16. If the car does not have AC, you could mount it on the passenger firewall inside the cabin. Just route the wiring along the factory harness. I did the same thing with my MSD, and the additional fuse block to run my stereo, elec fuel pump, MSD, AFR meter and all the other crap we run.
  17. The both taste like crap so... Yuban M1911 (colt 45) or M9 (Beretta 92F)

  20. Well for an Update...I won the auction for the 110mm LSD unit NIB 4pinion (I checked the PN on the box) picked it up for 500....do looks like I am in the hunt for 110mm diff with 3.9 or 4.11 gears
