  1. Thanks for the offer but I think I'll try the brute force u-joints. I want to try and change them by tommorrow. I never broke an oem u-joint with my V8Z so I think these will hold up on my turbo.
  2. I started getting some noise last week in the right rear under load. Sounds like my halfshaft u-joint is bad. I was thinking about getting some neapco brute force u-joints. Has anyone had any problems with these or is there a better option?
  3. Are you serious Len I thought you were loving your l29et. Was that skyline a R32 or R33? I saw a R33 last month near valley fair. Does this mean GN engine?
  4. If you are going to remove the flywheel and resurface it, you might as well pick up a 240mm flywheel. This will save you from doing it twice. I had a 225mm flywheel and stock clutch and it was slipping on 4th gear pulls on the freeway at 8 or 9psi. Just upgraded to a 240mm flywheel and ACT clutch. I'm still in the process of breaking it in but there is a noticable diference in holding power. If you are staying with the 4 speed, you may have to change the TO bearing collar if you use a ZX clutch. I think the 4 speeds and 5 speed trannys used different collars. Everything else should bolt right up.
  5. I've been wanting a hood like the new viper.
  6. You need to adjust the rod on your master cylinder so you get more travel out of it. There should not be 2" of freeplay. The clutch pedal should be about 8" off the floor and the freeplay should be about 1/4". 2" is way too much.
  7. I'm in the process of converting to the 240mm flywheel. I changed everything you listed except the TO bearing collar. Does the 2+2 trannys and standard trannys use different collars? I thought they were the same because they use the same TO bearing but now I'm reading that they're different. Anyone know for sure?
  8. I'm putting on my ACT clutch this week. It's rated at 400 ft-lbs with the turbo flywheel. I'll let you know how it holds up.
  9. Is the 240mm turbo/2+2 flywheel used in mid-eighties nissan trucks? I was looking for one on car-part.com and all that came up was 83-88 nissan truck flywheels. Can someone verify this.
  10. I agree that the red white and blue logo would be tight on a white mesh cap. Very retro looking, but I think the logo should be black and silver or red to convey the bad boy, blacksheep, non-conforming, open mind thinking of Hybrid Z. Maybe a black on black cap with silver or red outline. I'd still buy a white mesh cap with the red white and blue logo though.
  11. Changed the master and slave clylinders but still having the same problem so I'm gonna drop the tranny this weekend. This gives me an excuse to get a new performance clutch I'm considering an ACT or Exedy clutch. Has anyone used and exedy clutch or has heard any thing about them? They are a japanese oem supplier and is about the same price as the ACT.
  12. I bled the system at the slave but it didn't help. The fluid was pretty dark so I'm gonna try changing the master cylinder. For you turbo guys, is the stock 240z master cylinder sufficient for a L28 turbo or do I have to go with a bigger bore master cylinder?
  13. I don't think it's the pedal height cause it's almost all the way up. The other gears are shifting ok. I just have to give it a little more force to shift it. Sometimes I have to rev to down shift. I will definitely try bleeding it at the slave first.
  14. Last night I got stranded cause I couldn't get the car in gear at an intersection. The pedal just felt like it had more play. This morning I went back to take a look at it and it was shifting ok. The clutch was not slipping before this happened. Do I have a bad master cylinder or do I just need to bleed the system? Sometimes it's hard to get into first and I have to pump the clutch pedal till I can get it in gear.
  15. That happened to me too Len. I just went back and changed my profile.
  16. Davy The car is much cleaner interior and exterior. It does have a big whale tail that I want to take off but thats nothing major. Right now I just have to focus on tuning the engine for more boost. The guy that bought my 327Z has big plans for the car. He mentioned that he has already built a couple turbo V8s and was planning on dropping in a twin turbo V8 setup. He posted here a few times but I haven't heard from him in a while.
  17. Sold my '71 327 Z in November (too much work, too little time and money) and bought a '71 240z today. L28et, supra ic, stock fuel system. It's got a 4.11 rear that I need to swap so that will be for sale soon. Gonna have fun tunning this baby when spring comes around.
  18. I definately like the porsche rims better. The AZEVs just look a litle out dated to me. The Porsche rims look timeless. I like the bigger rim/smaller tire profile too.

  20. Great job I was fortunate enough to take 1st at the national competition in drafting and they gave me full scholarships to two different tech schools. I know it must have been very exciting when you recieved your gold medal
  21. I'm a ME doing design work for Lockheed Martin.
  22. I think 4 12s would be too much. I don't think you could get it to fit because of the cubic inches required for each speaker. A friend of mine put 2 12s in his ZX and it took up the whole trunk. 3 10s would be pretty loud just make sure you get the right impedence. Personally, I wouldn't put anything more than 1 10 in a bandpass box. I wouldn't want an extra 100lbs in the back of my car.
