the fj20 trans is actually closer to the L28 280z trans. pretty much all nissan trans of that era are pretty close. the only difference between the fj and the l28 trans is the bell housing is clocked just a little bit to the side, but you can do the bell housing swap and it would work fine. the length is the same, trans mounts are the same, when i put the fj20 into my 280z i aligned it using the trans, so same trans mount, same 280z driveshaft, it was actually quite easy. what people in Australia and japan are doing is putting rb25 trans to the FJ cause it holds more HP. you just need to modify the bell housing but instead of swapping them over, you just cut the top dowel off and redrill it to the left a little bit. go to fj20.com and search for transmissions, its layed out pretty clear. also, what you can do is find the kit that allows people to put a 300zxTT trans to the L28 ( like garrett's) and since the bolt pattern is the same, just follow the same procedures with the fj20 motor, the adapter plate, and the TT trans and it should work, HOWEVER, i do belive it would be cockked to the side a little bit, so maybe the people who make the adapter plate can redrill the holes on the adapter plate to the side a little bit. hope that helps....by the way, FJ's are KICK ARSE!

yeah, i know thats a huge offset, i wanted to put them under stock fenders with maybe zg flares, or forget the maybe, it'd have to be with some type of flare. when i first saw em they reminded me of lowrider wire wheels and i hated em, but the more i saw em the more they grew on me, so i don't know. theres a few other 18's on ebay cheaper, but these are work rims so...... anyways, reason i want 18's is cause 1. i think they look good on a z, and 2. just the other day i got 4 225/40zr18 nitto 555R's for 20 bucks! 95% tread on em, still got the nipples, only thing wrong was one of them had a nail right in the middle of the contact patch but discount tire patched it for free for me....damn rich people don't know what they have some times.............$600+ in tires for 20 bucks, i love craigslist!

saw em on ebay, kinda rare, never seen anything like them, supposedly thier "JDM" but the size is cool, 18x8 front and 18x9 rears, nice and wide....what are your opinions? hate it or love it?

can you give us a pic of the front so we see how the air goes into the intercooler, is it higher or lower than the opening of your bumper, or is it perfectly inline with airflow?

what is the little blue city light for? i don't get it, city light? is that light a bluish h1 bulb or something you can use as actual lighting while driving, then switch on the HID's when you wanna piss people off? can you hook up a strobe light to it and pull people over, i don't really get it. anyone know?

personally, i was wondering if these could be used in a HID setup, i think an HID bulb might fit, i saw these on ebay too and thought it might be a good idea. but how good can they be, 4.99 for lights, 25.00 shipping....

worked on some heat shielding and got the exhaust side of things all finally bolted up and finished......wrap goes all the way to the muffler. more pics next weekend!

one time i was driving my moms automatic toyota tercel in hawaii and it was a 5speed, i was used to my girlfriends automatic tercel in arizona, so i pulled up to a blockbuster, got down, walked in, lookin around the movies for about 5 minutes when a guy comes up to me and asks if thats my tercel outside, i said yeah, he said its in the middle of the street. i left it in neutral and didn't pull up the parking brake and it rolled out into the middle of a parking lot..... needless to say i was quite embarrased...

hey guys, today i bought a strut tower bar at a junkyard for 5 bucks. probably came out a honda or integra, but it was long, shiny aluminum with brackets, verrrry nice . got it back to work to test fit it and found out the brackets are way to wide apart to fit onto the Z strut towers. what i want to do is cut/modify the brackets to bolt on to the stock 3 bolts because the bar is actually a good fit, the end of each heim joint on the bar comes to about the inner most bolt on each side. my question is what would you guys do, try to cut a circular 3 bolt plate and then weld the cross bar to that, or would using the original honda bracket, cut like a "U" shape and use 2 bolts on each side as support be a good idea. or does anyone know a dealer or member that can sell me just the brackets with the 280Z 3 bolt pattern i can modify to use with the bar? or, if anyone has a template of the 3 bolt pattern on a circular bracket they can give me, i can print and trace onto a sheet of metal and maybe plasma cut and drill to save me a little time if i fab the brackets myself. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks........

just so you guys know APS (air power systems) just made a twin turbo kit for the VQ35 that on a built motor makes 1,000hp. don't know the specs yet, but........thats always nice to know. damn i love nissans !!!!!!

i wonder if he pulls over people in honda's and tells them they have an SR20DET in thier car also, just the FWD version. that would be hilarious........

thanks Hugh, i'll definitely check into that....i wasn't really done i just didn't know how i wanted to route it, i wanted it to exit into the atmosphere for that chainsaw sound, but i still want to make this a sleeper so maybe this weekend i'll try to route the wastegate dump pipe into the exhaust, i have an idea on how to do it, shouldn't take that much more time.....im so close i can feel it....

guess where i spent new years weekend...don't mind the ugly exhaust welds....this is for you Yasin..........happy new years everyone still trying to figure out the megasquirt thing. working on idle air control, probably gonna use the OEM Bosch air regulator unit, gotta drain the gas tank and fill it up, flush the lines and add a inline filter, and a few more things that will probably be taken care of this weekend. peace for now....
