okay, maybe too many questions...anyways, does anyone have a pic of how they jumpered thier fidle relay on the megasquirt relay board? this is required right in order to use msns-e?
-
hey guys, i just got a question maybe someone on here can help me out with. im doing the msns-e on a ms1 v2.2 board, with a relay board and im using an MSD 6AL box. anyways, im using the fidle to trigger spark, from moby's sticky i know i have to do the pull-up resistors, and also remove the fidle relay and jumper some connections. does anyone have a pic of thier jumpered fidle relay on the relay board? just so i know what pins to jumper. also, has anyone used the pull-up resistor between pin1 and pin 4 of the socket? just curious if anyone has a pic of that too. im getting close to understanding this whole msns-e thing. so i may have more questions later if things don't work, (no fuel, sparky, etc...lol) thanks for your help

element would probably be too short for the 10ft, even with the board on the roof, although the wetsuit like interior of the element would be good for the beach. tacoma truck is out of the question, unless you want the tip of your board broken off by overpasses or whatever it hangs over/back of on the truck. i'd say go the SUV route with a 4runner or the cherokee. that way you could hit up nice sets in remote places using the 4wd. the cherokee, specially the 4dr, has alot of room inside and outside for the boards, can probably fit the 10ft inside with the pass. seat reclined, both models would be with a straight six or v6, but mileage, specially on the newer ones, would be over 20mpg for sure. might even be able to find a 4cyl cherokee, but im not sure they make them. the make old school 4 runners with 4cyls, the 22re fuel injected 4cyl i belive, and with some tricks, can get decent gas mileage too, let alone are long-lasting bullet-proof motors. hope that helps, i don't know anything bout wagons cause i never owned one....

don't be discouraged, if your going to do the swap, do it with the F22c, im a honda mechanic and i can tell you thats the better engine to go with, more HP, higher compression, and they fixed alot of the problems with the F20c. if you pick up this months issue of super street, they have a s14 (240sx) with a F20 engine in it, turbocharged, looks sweet, alot of people are running that engine in a non-honda RWD platform, just look at the pics of the last japanese classic car show. the f22 is the way to go if you want N/A power, the f20 if you want turbocharged power, ive seen stock head/stock block f20's put out over 400hp with a turbo, full-race has a 650hp turbo kit(with built internals of course). it is sweet, and having the high redline, 6 speed gear box turning those tires is awesome, and in an S30, a hell of a lot better than those sardine can s2000's. good luck and don't forget, post pics....

have you tried to make it work, like mcguyver'd it, i know with some aftermarket shift knobs, like the autozone ones, the plastic adapter doesn't work, so i wrapped my shifter in electrical tape, shoved the knob on and tightened it down, and it worked okay, didn't rattle. you could spin it if you put some muscle too it, but then again, you can break anything with enough muscle...except an FJ20 block

people back in the days used to do all sorts of stuff for performance, i had an uncle back in the early 80's, and he was doing the Z24 block, L18 or L20 head way before most people were doing it with his own custom machining and parts, and this was on GUAM, in the 80's, you pretty much had to make your own parts as there wasn't much going on there in those days. even if it was a 3hr plane ride from japan. im not too sure what people did with Z's on guam back then, from what i remember growing up, i never even saw one on the road. the 1st time i saw a datsun s30 Z was in a junkyard, and even though it was rusted and tore up, i was blown away by its shape, and its long "nissan OHC" chrome valve cover, i thought it was a giant Z engine (i used to race those Z24's big time) and i wanted one since then and finally got one here in the US with 64k original miles and garaged for the past 10+ years, AND it was one of the first 280Z's in arizona, owned by the girlfriend/wife/mistress of the owner of Smith Datsun in Mesa, AZ. how's that for lineage...

lol, exactly what i was thinking. i hope everyone got raincoats, the forecast calls for thunder storms...

nice, a rhd 240sx (or sylvia) dash...door panels even look a-mkt too.... -
i wasn't hoping to just bolt it right up, i mean, for the price of a pair, you have 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts with igniters, and 2 housings. these are a euro lenses so its a flood projection, not a spot light or beam. also, you can modify the cover so its has a beam cutoff, or just buy some cheap ebay headlights, and modify these to work with the projector lenses...or whatever your suggesting. i didn't say it would bot right up or work right, but with the ingenuity of hybridz website, who knows what we can do with them. beats 1000 bucks or 500 bucks

one of my coworkers is into duning and sandrails, and he came across this looking for lights for his rhino. anyways, its a cheap HID light, sold at checkers (checkers, shucks, kragen) auto parts stores, 120 bucks each light (we only need two) the lens its self is 7" supposedly, and the entire outer diameter is 8 1/2" or 8 3/4". i havn't picked one up yet, but im looking to get my hands on one soon. i wonder if we can modify these lights to work in our Z headlight location. almost everyone in AZ on the sandrail sight is getting these lights cause thier nice and cheap. heres the link, you can look at some pics and some people who bought the lights reaction. supposedly too, you can get a 25% off discount with checkers if you fill some online survey, and if you request they pull the part, you get 10% off too, so $200 bucks for a pair of HID's, that might work on a Z with some modification, thats awesome if we can use this. heres the link (and yes, i know they are offroad lights, but they are a euro beam, so its not so much of a spot light, but a flood light) http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showtopic=122502 and some pics....(i love how the back is covering the ballast, igniter, etc)

crazy, supposedly he did it as a contest to all murcielago owners, who could record the fastest speed on a US street/freeway. now that the vid got popular, he's being investigated by the police and thier saying something about putting the lambo on the auction block to teach him a lesson.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIp_FDhJa0A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIp_FDhJa0A&rel=1&border=0">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIp_FDhJa0A&rel=1&border=0">

hey, don't give up on the welding, looks like you either need to grind the paint away a little bit more so your welding on bare metal, and make sure you have a good ground, looks like the ground you have may be insufficient, practice on some other panels first before you go laying boogers on your Z otherwise, looking good !

Intercooler Piping Routing Under the Car- Pic
FJ 280z replied to ktm's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
dude, i think it looks great. you might be on to something here, the only downside i see is something coming up from underneath and hitting either the charge pipe or the coupler, or stuff hitting the piping, but if you think about it its not that much longer than honda charge piping or turbo kits for other cars that have miles of charge piping. who knows, pipe underneath the oil pan might act as a pre-cooler for the boosted air by air rushing over it cooling the pipe, might not drop it 50 degrees, but even 2 or 3 helps. -
hey olie, you make a great point regarding the stresses and the frame rails. i have a similar style of mount on my 280z, that i made to get my FJ20 in there, however, the difference between mine and 240hoke's is that i have a wider footprint on the framerails, ie...the part that is welded to the frame rail on my Z is maybe 10-11" long, while 240hoke's looks like its 4" at the most. the smaller the area is welded to the frame rail, the more stress it will see 4" of stress vs. 10" of stress. i want to look at my engine mounts again, make sure they are all good. but 240hoke, did you drill some real long holes through the frame rail to mount those brackets for the engine mounts? i know that vildini does something similar as far as welding thier cradle to the frame rails, thats where i got the idea for mine. its only a matter of time before 240hoke finds out if those brackets will hold or not. looking great by the way, and i can't BELIEVE you got it sitting in there allready, i swear i saw the thread where you got that motor just days ago..... keep up the good work.

man, i feel lucky enough just to be in arizona so i can hopefully catch a glimpse of it at a car show or the pavillions, can you post some new interior shots, is that all finished?

relax, pull that stick out your tailpipe, everyones said something or other that was taken the wrong way or out of context, i didn't mean for it to be taken wrong, it was a joke. i've seen "veterans" of the site ask for parts off cars when people post pics of a car they just bought...is that okay??? sorry i havn't been on here for 6+ years with over 2,000 posts..... 6 years x 365 days = 2190.....almost a post a day, every day, for 6 years, sorry i don't have your amazing dedication torwards a car forum......
