  1. Looking at getting a set of these. I like the style and really want a suede seat. (black) http://www.yonaka.com/Yonaka_Ronin_Suede_synthetic_Black_and_Red_p/ymrs007.htm What do you guys think?
  2. seriously. I didn't even know this was going on until a day or two ago, and only knew I was going down this evening. Oh wellz haha Mickey D's might do the trick
  3. haha thanks buddy. We'll see what we can pull off with a "please" and a smile lol.
  4. CRAP! lol just went to register for the BBQ and its closed. Anyone know someone at MSA? we'll be 5 people total...
  5. speechless. Just amazing work, and amazing photography. wow
  6. I'm going down, but I don't know any of you... Hopefully I'll meet a couple of HBZ members in conversation.
  7. I got a ticket for not having a parking pass. Funny thing was, since I didn't have a pass, they didn't know who I was. Never did pay it...

  9. Just to add, Subaru's typically have a lot of extra head room. Even with stock seats my friend has a street driven subi with a cage (show car...the cage would probably collapse in an accident). Regardless, the cage sits much higher than I think any cage in a z car. Add the high roof, with very very low seats, and you get the illusion that there isn't any safety concern. IMHO
  10. I'm pretty confident it is, but does anyone know for sure? I'll probably end up stopping by the dealership and checking part numbers.
  11. Just want to clarify that the license plate light in the rear is the same piece for all 240/260/280z models?
  12. how long did you let the car run for?
  13. Looking for items for a budget build: - a set of 240z front turn signals. Doesn't have to be pristine, just decent working condition, but let me know what you have either way. - 240z front bumper. Either metal, or fiberglass. - MSA style 1 airdam without brake ducts, or similar piece. I have lots of 280z parts to trade if interested. Thanks!
  14. I had thought about using a glow in the dark paint on the needles, and an extra Infrared or blacklight LED in the gauge. Not sure if that would work, or if its even possible. Never looked too far into it.
  15. Is painting urethane a pointless pursuit? It seems to me the flex in the piece would just crack the paint all over.
  16. The rear license plate light correct? I have one. Cleaned up nicely and has a new coat of black paint. I don't have the screws however. 2 new bulbs included. $20 shipped?
  17. Getting more excited for this piece, and I'm interested also in pricing. Fairly sure I'd like to buy one. Can't wait to see your car painted Dsommer!
  18. That would be awesome if there was more fixed wing opportunities through the Warrant Officer route. My recruiter was gunning for me to go rotor-head but I turned it down for the time being. Though I made my intentions of fixed wing flying clear, he never mentioned any other options. Then again...that's a recruiter for ya And that sounds like a fantastic first flight!! Always great to have a confident instructor.
  19. Be aware that the air force, or any other service requires you to be an officer to fly. (save for the Army warrant officer program...but that's for rotor heads). In order to be an officer, you need a 4 year degree. Also, pilot spots are in short supply, which is why I chose to get my degree first and then go to Officer Candidate School if the chances down the road are better to get a pilot slot. Friends of mine did ROTC and they were lucky enough to land a slot. Props to them for sticking it out. Glad to hear you enjoyed it though! Keep at it!
  20. As if this story wasn't already over-the-top awesome, the co-driver is HALF BLIND!! Here's the second half of the story, as told by the co-driver: http://jalopnik.com/5500013/i-co+drove-the-500-craigslist-rally-car
  21. That was awesome!! Perfect timing too, with the $500 craigslist BMW story just a couple weeks ago.
  22. 4. Runway behind you. Found out first hand the other day how easy it is to start compromising what you know is safe, in the interest of making a flight work. I was planning on taking a friend of mine up this past weekend over the San Juan islands so he could propose to his girlfriend (his idea..lol). Anyway the weather was marginal at best, but doable if you really wanted to. Made it as far as the run-up area at the end of the runway and had to come back to the hangar. Winds gusting to 30kts with pressure falling like an anvil. Not that I couldn't have flown the conditions if it happened unexpectedly, but I figured why go into the situation willingly, and then wish you were on the ground. I know it was the right choice, but still sucked to have to make it. I can't imagine how much harder it is for you commercial folks who have to tell that to a plane full of people.
  23. Hey Z-Gad, how long have you been at your airline? What's your opinion on the ATP mins that are being pushed for?
  24. This is probably the advice I heard the most during my initial training, and the same advice I chose to ignore the most! I certainly paid for it, both in money and time.
  25. Awesome! I assume you're looking to eventually work as a pilot correct? What kind of job are you interested in? Airlines, corporate, cargo, etc? If you don't have a 4 year degree yet, consider getting one. It's pretty much a requirement everywhere nowadays (though there are exceptions). Doesn't have to be anything aviation related, or even technical. Anyways as far as instruction goes, be prepared to spend roughly $150 per hour. $100 for the aircraft rental, and $50 for instructor fees. Each flight will likely be about 1.5 hours, with some ground instruction before and after each flight (this is not ground school). So about $200-$250 per lesson, depending on how the lesson goes. The price you were quoted sounds about right. I ended up spending a bit more than that, but that was because of a bad winter causing me to put my training on hold. Also, make sure you understand that any price you are quoted is just that, an estimate. It can take anywhere from 40 hours to 100 to get your PPL. If it does take 40 hours (minimum) it doesn't mean you're necessarily an incredible pilot. And if it takes 100 hours, it certaintly doesn't mean you're a bad one. Just happens that way. So it could be more or less expensive. But if you find your instructor is intentionally gouging you or prolonging your instruction without reason, either figure it out, or go to another instructor. I had this problem. If the only plane they have is a 172, thats ok. They are a great plane and have proven themselves as an excellent trainer. If you can find a place that will rent a Cessna 150 or 152, they tend to be a bit cheaper to rent. (smaller. only 2 seats) Personally I favor Piper aircraft like the Charokee/Warrior. Low wing plane and just seems to fly nicer. Very different characteristics on landing though, so if you start in a high wing plane probably best to stick with it until you have your PPL. Enjoy!
