  1. OK, here is the update. My car has run fine for the past two days with that spooling issue. Remember, it pauses at 5 psi then spools slowly. Today, it ran like crap for 10 minutes then when it started running correctly, the spooling issue was corrected. It now spools past 14 psi to at least 20 psi which is where I let off the gas. I suppose I now have the opposite problem. Any suggestions? My mbc is disconnected. My wastegate is routed back to a T to my HKS SSQV and intake manifold. The turbo is a GT2871R which is supposed to be internally wategated at 14 psi.
  2. I just kept thinking it is a boost leak issue. Just a small leak like through a BOV. Like something is opening a little at 7-10 psi, then it is only increasing when the GT2871R puts out large amounts of air.
  3. I will try this tomorrow. That would explain a lot. If it still pauses, then it is a wastegate or actuator issue, right? Or would it be an engine management issue?
  4. Please ignore issues 1 and 2. I fixed them. Really, I caused them. It was an electrical issue caused by installation of a kill switch which I was forgetting to turn on. For some reason, the car was running even with the switch off, just poorly. I will take the bonehead prize for the day.
  5. My car was running great as a T25 mildly modified SR20DET. Maybe I should have stayed in the low 200'srwhp. Anyway, here is my problem. I sent these questions to Scott at Enthalpy. Does anyone else have any suggestions? My car is SR20DET, 740's, GT2871R, Z32, usual mods. 1. At vaccuum, cruising down highway at 60 mph in 5th gear it runs for 15 minutes then stalls. I can smell gas and the car seems to be flooded out. I suspect a lack of fuel pressure regulator. Could this be the problem? If so, do I need a retune if I add one? 2. Before the car warms up, it runs like crap breaking up and stuttering. 3. My car spools to 5-10 psi, pauses, then spools the rest of the way as a function of boost. It does not max out boost at normal rpms. It only maxes boost out when it maxes out rpms.
  6. So, do you think my diagnosis is correct? Boost leaking somewhere? I will check the wastegate too.
  7. OK, here is the story. My car ran fine with the T25 stock turbo. I switched to GT2871R, 740's, Z32. I have all normal mods except cams. The tune is an Enthalpy ROM tune. I had a cheapo mbc and an ebay Freddy type S (Fake Greddy) BOV. My boost would go to about 10 psi, drop back to 8 psi, hold there for a couple of seconds then spool as a function of RPM, only hitting 17psi at close to 7000 rpm. I removed the cheapo mbc and there was no effect. I replaced the ebay Freddy type S with another ebay Freddy type S. Then my car boosted to 7 psi, stalled there for a couple of seconds then spooled as a function of boost. I figured that I have a boost leak. I replaced the Freddy type S with a real HKS SSQV. When I put in the SSQV, I had to change some of the intercooler piping. And, YES, the SSQV is recirculated. Now, my car boost to 5 psi, stalls there then spools as a function of boost. I think I must have a boost leak. Does anyone have any other suggestions or do you think it is a boost leak?
  8. Yes, don't forget the 10 administrators to tell you that what you said is political and to close the forum. Or to say that it does not have enough basis in fact and close the forum. Or to say that only their opinion is correct and close the forum. Or to say that this is not a democracy and to close the forum.
  9. 1 1/2 away from your house? I would have taken mine there if it wasn't 3 from my house. 3 days that is. You are lucky to have such a competent shop so close. Take advantage of it. Their swaps just keep getting better and better. I would have taken my car several hours to have them do the swap.
  10. I broke down and got an HKS SSQV. It should help my issue. Then if there is another problem, I will know it isn't my cheapo ebay BOV.
  11. I'll bet the external dimensions of the Greddy are 88mm. LOL That is probably how they came up with calling it a T88. My buddy's turbo in his Vette is a Garrett T88. The thing is HUGE!
  12. But wait, that is assuming that I get to keep the unlimited funds for myself.
  13. 1. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 2. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 3. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 4. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 5. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 6. My SR20DET powered 280Z. 7. My Infiniti FX45. 8. ???
  14. Great idea. Or at least, it was a few years ago when it was done. Do a search.
  15. If you are looking for the last area to rust, don't check the battery box and floor pans. Those are always the first area to rust. I think you should check the doors as the last area. The other option is the rear quarters. Usually if they have gone, it is indicative of more.
  16. OK, I have disconnected the mbc. I have replaced the Freddy BOV with another Freddy. I believe that the problem is the BOV. I believe it is leaking boost at 7-9 psi. Apparently this is very common with that BOV. My boost is getting to 7-10 psi, falling or stalling for 2 seconds, then spooling up but only as a factor of rpm. I figure it is still leaking, the GT2871R just puts out enough air to continue for the boost to increase. The rest of the piping does not appear to leak. Also, if there was a leak in the rest of the piping, the boost probably would not increase after stalling. Is my reasoning correct? Should I just fork out the dough and get the HKS SSQV with recirculation kit? Does it work reliably? I plan on running 17psi for daily driving.
  17. Hugh, if you find a good deal on a clutch LSD, get two. I need one also.
  18. Pretty cool. Wish I had some tracks closer. Now drop a bigger turbo in and go dominate. Was that an evo that got the jump on you? What kind of power are you putting out?
  19. Yes, that is how mine is set up. BUT, my Greddy type S has an additional fitting. It is angled 45 degrees downward. Does anyone know what to do with this fitting?
  20. I have a rifle that looks like that. I am afraid I would pick up the wrong one if I started treating it like a toy
  21. So, my BOV has two vaccuum line fittings. One is near the top and goes to a T which goes to the intake and to the wastegate. The other is angled 45 degrees downward. Should I remove the T and connect the 45 degree angled line from the BOV to the wastegate? Right now it is not connected to anything. Am I understanding correctly? Maybe to put the question better, What do I connect the vaccuum fitting which is angled 45 degrees downward out of a Greddy type S BOV to?
  22. BTW, that was a joke. Your car looks great. I paid triple that for one in a similar nearly rust free condition without a decent looking paint job. I wouldn't bother painting that car until I made my engine mods.
  23. I think the rust looks horrible. You should probably get rid of it. I will give you your $1000 back for it just to help you out.
