  1. For those that want to go less dramatic than rhino, take a look at http://www.lizardskin.com/
  2. Broke mine in similar places in a car accident. A word of advice ... Percoset. You're probably not doing any riding for a little while, at first every tiny bump in a vehicle will translate directly to the jaw. I seriously thought I could feel the paint on the road stripes. Take care.
  3. Paying $40/Hr. Before some of you in big cities go nuts about the price, I'm in Delaware, and as much as it sux, a lot of things are cheaper. I know it's going to cost me more than doing it myself (obviously), but it's the time part that I dont have. Besides, I figure If I spend $15K I'll be getting exactly the car I want where I know the condition and construction of every part of it. For the same 15K I could buy a new Hundai or other similar gokart. If you look at the link in my sig, you'll see why I'm not likely to see another one just like it out on the street
  4. Funny, this just happened recently, went to go see what it looked like sandblasted, and when I got there everyone was out for lunch, and it looked like it hadn't been touched for quite a while. I went back a few days later and asked about it. They were waiting on a delayed shipment of sand, and he showed me my newly finished fenders that they had been working on in the meantime. Seeing the buckets molded in, signal light holes filled in, and all of the dings & dents smoothed out really took the frustration level back down
  5. I'd like to be able to do the work on my 280zx myself, but that just aint gonna happen. Knowing this, I've decided to have all of my body/engine work done by some local pro's that I trust. It's been a couple of months now, and the occasional trip to see the progress just makes the anticipation even worse. What is the trick to keeping your sanity while waiting for your baby to be finished. I've taken to ordering parts for the body guys, drawing up my new wiring harness, and drooling over LS2 ordering sites. Any other ideas for keeping me sane while I wait ???
  6. Here's what you do: Disconnect your fuel intake from your gas tank and run a hose from the intake to a 5 gallon can of Deisel that you hide in the back of the car. It should only take one more siphoning for the problem to take care of itself.
  7. I dont know how you are going to do a 4 lug pattern in a 5 spoke design without adapter plates. Gotta love that old school style though
  8. Same exact thing happened to me, I bought a new fuel pump, and filter before somebod suggested I clean the contacts on my relays. I pulled each of my relays, brushed the contacts, and still have the fuel pump and filter in their boxes. I guess if the relay isnt working right it'll get the initial burst of fuel to start, but not enough to run.
  9. I like it a lot. I've been planning mine, but I like the way you've made the center console more predominant, bisecting the dash. Consider that look yoinked. Also, pvc tubing for gauges ... hmmmm Have you thought about dash vents from a Matrix or Scion dash, they're round, small, and easily adjustable.
  10. The text of your link says http://www.holmesfamily.ws/240zRearArch/index.html'>http://www.holmesfamily.ws/240zRearArch/index.html but the link points to http://www.holmesfamily.ws/240zRearArch apparently you need to add the /index.html
  11. Personally I hate cars taken to that extreem, but to each their own. You could always put some eyebolts around the sub, and use tie down straps to hold the hatch down. Somebody looking in the back seeing all the straps holding the back of the car on, might be a little shcocked It would be good for visual effect, as well as a really cheap solution
  12. Here's the back of my 80 with everything off the back. The nose is raised a little (jack stands) so the angle is a little off.
  13. Rewiring the whole car is actually in the plans. It's one of the few things I can do myself in this wretched beast. Between changing the engine, and the taillight wiring, and going from efi to carb, I figure new wires is probably the way to go. Besides, the new dashboard was going to require some significant changes anyway
  14. Thanx for all the advice, it sounds like I can get rid of, or at least move just about everything. The brake booster can go because a new one will be taking it's place, and the steering box can come off for some cleaning, and painting. I'm going to be making a custom dash, so I'll see if I can move a lot of it to the inside of the firewall, or hide it somewhere else out of the way. 80LT1: what stuff in 4 and 10 might I still need ? WingNut: I was looking at using an electric blue basecoat for the chameleon, so the purple would just be a highlight. My other choice was white pearl.... Well I got a "quick" glimpse of some Italian sports car this weekend in an arctic white, and it looked AWESOME. So I think that may be the new choice, plus, I already kinda liked it in white As for the engine. A local reputable engine guy has one he built for himself. He's got a monsterous blown corvette, but he built a 350HP motor he could put in his car for passing inspection. It's only got 2K miles on it. I cant pass up the deal
  15. Thanx, I was pretty sure all of it could go, nice to get some confirmation. It's getting a carb'd 350 and 350 trans and R200LSD. Of course If I stumble over a pile of cash than it'll be an LS2 As for the other modifications, check the link in the sig. It's not the most attractive site, but it's just there to hold the pictures. The body shop guys normally just work on big iron, but they're starting to adopt mine as the shop pet
  16. Shweeeet, what vent is that ???
  17. I'm making room for a 350 Chevy in my '80 ZX. The old stuff is out of the way (Anybody need an engine and 5-Speed). Anyway, the firewall is still a mess and I want to clean it up. I'm going with a whole new electrical system and VintageAire for the AC, so I'm not worried about keeping those leftovers. So, is there anything numbered that I shouldnt remove, or anything not numbered that I could ? Any advice would be appreciated.
  18. It seems odd that as somebody new to Ebay she seems to know how to stage and post photo's and put together the auction. Also odd that she would move it to another room to photograph it so nicely if she hates it, rather than taking the picture in the garage. Funny too how she's cleaning out the garage and getting rid of all of his crap, but there is only one item listed. Wouldnt touch it.
  19. Have you tried not taking your keys out of the gas cap when you unlock it. That would make it very difficult to drive off without it. ... from a fellow idiot
  20. My guess is for a film truck. The trailer hitch on the back is too high for a rear door to be practical. The rear windows are blacked out to stop light, the accessories on the roof are probably to help tie down a roof mounted camera. The back seat passenger window seems to have been oversized as well.
  21. Speaking of round lights, can anybody tell me who's car I modified the pictures of for my project.. I'm thinking of using corvette lights with the bubble covers. The original picture only had two lights on each side My Project http://www.raymondandrews.com/zx
