I have access to CAD and FEA software...I'd be interested too!

Any pics from the side for the added flange?

That 80amp is also in between the fuse block, and ignition/acc relay
Of course!! You are right, the battery can put out 100's of amps
25 amp ATC fuse:
(It's funny, because my thumb isn't that gross-looking in real life!!) wow...
Haynes Manual:

I replaced one of my fusible links with an ATCc. I'll have to take a pic.
But, aren't the ZX alternators ~65 amp? I think the '82 turbo was up to ~70 amps.
Why would there be an 80 amp black fusible link if the alternator couldn't put out that many amps?

Rich, good progress on the coil wiring harness!!

...(btw, if you find zero friction let me know, we can make some money!
)
I have a warehouse full of used 1970's air-hockey tables (just kidding)

I was looking at polishing mine but it is ALOT of trouble. It isnt easy! Takes Weeks!
I think the hardest part is getting the sand casting texture off the runners and next to the injector bosses. Even with a roll of 1" wide sandpaper, it can get monotonous.
I found out that wetsanding the plenum removes the final scratches pretty well.
I can't wait to see you guys' finished product!!
Here's a few pics of mine: http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=826764&postcount=10
I have ~7 fittings on the bottom.

I think it ony happens if you're not logged in.

Wouldn't that be the one with the lesser mu because mu is the coeffecient of friction?
Good catch Gabe! To get even more nerdy, I think if one had no mu it would slide off, and with some mu, it would roll off.

How's the project coming along Rich?
Are you going to be able to show off your *new* EMS at this month's Northwestz.org meeting?
Later, -hughdogz

Three Engineers get into a car and it doesn't start.
The Electrical Engineer says it must be the starter. The Chemical Engineer says it must be bad gas.
The Computer Science Engineer says: "Lets all get out and get back in and see if it starts again"

Lol you guys arent playing the game right!
Hugh your suppose to be talking about austins car... and then the next person that posts talks about your car
and posts a picture of their car and so on
Doh! Sorry about that, the my hangover hasn't left yet.
If I had Austin's car (which would be a dream come true) I might black out the chrome trim around the windows, and change to some fender mirrors to finish out the "JDM look".
-
I really like all the work you've done so far.
I was about to say the same thing as Austin about the wheels though...the reason for flares are to fit wider wheels.
Everything else is pretty badass. Also, the cardomain song I'm not really into, but you weren't asking about that.

Here's my ride:

Yup the rotors were assembled correctly. I put the front rotors and calipers on tonight. I have to hook up the brake lines yet but I'll do that later(there seized on right now so its going to take some special tools.....like a torch! LOL).
BEFORE....
AFTER...
Its hard to believe how small the fronts were!
Guy
Wow!!
That's like night and day...

For Ron and Bo,
When you go into overrun fuel cut mode, how does the stepper motor handle it? My DB gage goes to 22.4, and I was curious if the analog needle goes past 18 AFR or not.
With my Autometer EGT, I bought the wrong one (1600F instead of 1800F) and after pegging it a few times, it went T.U.

I guess our ony hope now is to somehow find those EMPI 87-7801-0
I found out that these come from 80-87 AMC Eagle 4WD 4cyl: http://www.eng.fsu.edu/~jthagard/vlsd.htm
I wonder if we can buy the whole new shaft and just use the 87-7801-0 piece, or else find one from the junkyard to fit the pathfinder axles?
-
Wow Scott, that is short... dog, I currently have MSA's short-shifter but want my original shifter cut down about the same. There is a head shop around the corner from me so I might ask if they can do it `cause I'd screw it up for sure.
Oops! My mistake...sorry guys. I guess I fell into the trap in Scott's siggy -
"Assumption is the mother of all F..ups. "

You guys are talking about a shortened shifter, right?
A true short-throw shifter raises the pivot point (like the ones MSA sells):
Wouldn't it be easier to cut a 1-2" section out then weld the two pieces back together? No die cutting needed.
The first thing I do after I buy a Z is shorten the shifter

My old setup with the OEM EFI, just after adding the intercooler and shaved N42 intake:
Last summer after the Wolf EMS was installed:
Where I am now
-
Cool! Now the Wolf seems to be the most popular aftermarket EMS' at Northwestz.org !!
I'm still the only one (besides BRAAP and Ron) that has a V500 (v1 / v2)
I still have a lot to learn though... :-

Well, I found out last night that the Pathfinder axles will NOT work.
The re-splining shop in Portland (Dutchman) at first said there would be enough material in the 31mm dia, 30 spline Pathy axles to respline them to a 30mm, 29 spline.
My friend Bryan said that when he called them back, they said they needed to make him new Cro-Moly axles (which are even beefier than the 31mm ones) but it will cost him $750 to get them "out of Jail"
I guess our ony hope now is to somehow find those EMPI 87-7801-0
All said and done, this LSD ends up costing about $1500+ to purchase and install

I watch a lot of History channel. Sometimes their experts contradict each other in the same program
The experiment that proved relativity was that you could measure the position of the stars shift during an eclipse, since the space bends around the Sun. I think you should be able to see a star that should be hidden behind the edge of the sun during an eclipse.
Time does "slow down" depending on gravity. Modern GPS satellites have to take this into account. Their clocks run ever so slightly slower since they are in orbit, compared to the surface of the Earth.
I think the reason years seem to go by faster is because every year that passes is a smaller percentage of your total life. In grade school, a summer seemed to last forever. Einstein said when you're in physical pain, times seems to slow down, but if you're with a beautiful girl, it goes by quickly.
Another curious thing is that you could never reach the speed of light, since as you approach the speed of light, your apparent mass increases. Since you're heavier, you'll have to apply more power to approach it, which will again make you heavier. It would take an infinite amount power, so you can never reach it.
One of the last things Einstein was working on is how the mind can have an effect on random events...effecting the physical world through thoughts.

Hi Worldson, I was thinking about the same thing recently.
Anyway, here is how I look at it...In 1st or second gear, the reason there is not much load on the clutch is that with the "shorter" gears, it is like running a longer "breaker-bar". Using the taller 4-5th gear, it is nearly 1:1 (or lower) thus, using a shorter arm that could slip more...
To say it another way, the reason the clutch "slips out" is because you're applying the same torque to a shorter "distance-arm" so you'll get more slippage.
Hope this made sense...
ps:
The same thing went down with the anime "Wangan Midnight" (episode 18, 19? [thanks RagingPanda

280zx NA Engine into a 280z

You might have an issue with the dropping resistors for the injectors. The earlier ECU's needed them, but the later ones do not. It will depend on the year of the ZX...
[Edit: On second thought, it wouldn't matter as long as you're using the 280Z wiring and ECU]
