  1. That sucks. At least you found it. I had a similar problem once. I think the spring retainer came off. Mine ran but very poorly. What is FOD?
  2. Possible break internally on the clutch or tranny when you dropped it? Dumb question, it is out of gear right? Any difference w/ the clutch pushed in? Did it turn over freely by hand before you installed it? Did you pull the plugs to turn it over by hand? Also pull the starter off and then try to turn it by hand. Maybe the starter is locked up.
  3. Try another battery first. Easy check. If that doesn't do it see if you manually turn the motor over off the crank bolt in the front. Carefully though.
  4. 1 fast Z, are you a machinest or just have lots of $$$$ or both? Very, very nice work! If you had to pay to have something like this developed, what kind of $$$ would that cost?
  5. Any idea on where they came up with 11.5 to 1 ratio?
  6. I picked up this car recently. It has an E31 Head w/ 530 Lift and 306 Duration Cam on a F54 Block bored 30 over w/ Flat tops. Block and Head were just decked not shaved. The car was intended to run on race gas only because of the supossed 11.5 to 1 compression ratio. How they got this calculation I have no idea? Anyway, it currently has Tripple SK carbs on there now but they need to be tuned and maybe rebuilt. WHat kind of performance loss would I be getting if I switch to SUs? I have a set that runs great on my smashed car and it has a mild cam in it now. Would the carbs handle this Cam? 7. Can you bypass the whole relay system and hook positive juice up to the ECU just to make sure that isn't bad? That would at least eliminate the ECU being bad no?
  8. Jon, Your talking the return spring on the Throttle body for a 75 280z that is stock right?
  9. Jon, If I can be of any help let me know. I'm not the best with FI, but I'd be happy to learn w/ you. It will give me a reason to bring the rims by for you. I also bought another car Yeah!
  10. I'm in Orlando, FL and it gets pretty hot. I run a 160. I'd run either 160 if it was Southern Cali or 180 if it was Northern. To me it is easier to error on the cooler thermostat. But bring a 180 and some tools. Easy swap, unless your housing breaks like mine did. You are driving a NA 240z, 260z, 280z, 280zx?

Welcome to the forum. Did you have a question or just introducing yourself?
  12. It looks like an older Pace Setter header to me. You could probably re-use the gasket if you don't detroy it taking the old manifold off, but for the money just get a new one. 25-50 bucks
  13. Curious to what year the P82 manifold came on w/out EGR and was it a USA market?
  14. You beet me to it! LOL Read, Search, Read some more. After you've done this do it again and bookmark your favorite threads. No question is dumb, unless your not smart enough to search first. Then make sure you said so first. I've heard using google sometimes produces better searches then the site itself does, but I haven't tried this yet. Welcome Austin! Z+$$$$ = One fast car!
  15. There is always that chance, but if it is ment to be, it is ment to be!
  16. I wonder if having your car featured in a magzine helps the resale value?
  17. Matt has graciously offered to look at it for me. I think a third party advice on the purchase would be great advice. No emotional attachment due to the fact that he's not buying it.
  18. I would think it has to be better performance just by displacement alone. I would also think you may need to run it a little leaner. But maybe because of the bigger displacement you may not. Either way you will at least have a Z that runs. Spun bearings are not fun.
  19. Also check for a vacum leak. I'm 99% sure mine has a slow leak in the brake booster. When I step on the brakes at a light the RPM's go up. If i put the emergency brake on and hit the gas real quick it dies down to normal. Give it a shot, it could be your brake booster leaking.
  20. Any Hybrid Members in Albuquerque, NM want to check out a car for me?
  21. I'm in Orlando, FL looking at a car Albuquerque, NM. I wrecked my car in Jan, 07 and have been looking for a decent replacement since w/ no luck. That is, a car w/ little rust. The 1972 car is owned by the orginal owner, has receipts for everthing, 3 year old paint, newer tires, radiator, new interior, and more... and most importatnly NO RUST. The bad it is an Automatic. Additional sentimental plus is it is white, with maroon interior like the one my dad had when I was little. Do I: 1. Spend $250 for a 1 way ticket plus $200? for gas and drive the 26 hours risking a potential breakdown and put extra miles on it. 2. Pay the $1400 to get it shipped to my house. Maybe I'm being paranoid about something happening, but I'm in no mood for a breakdown or the cost to get it fixed while being on the road. Plus however long it woud take to get fixed, hotel costs, meals, finding parts, loss of work, etc. Example: If for some reason the transmission went out on the way home I see it costing WAY over $1400 to get fixed. Am I over planning or should I just risk it and drive? Thoughts ????

As slow as I work on things I probably still have it. Shoot me a PM when and if you come down.
  23. Yikes! I'd lose that match in a heartbeat to get out of that situation. Yuck!
