  1. That's cool Burned. I'll see you next month at Buena Park. If you need any help PM me. I work in Burbank.
  2. Thanks for the kind comments, yep that was me. I'm glad your GF thinks it's cute. As a matter of fact on the way over to the meet, a girl at the gas station said the same thing while I was filling up. Silver was the original color for my car as well. I'm not quite finished I still have to wire up the A/C and mount the bumpers. But she is driveable. By the way, a group of us are going to Irwindale drags this coming thursday. Hope to see you there. Everyone is invited
  3. Well as the heading says. I finally installed the motor for the second time. you see after the first rebuild of my engine failed. I got the shop the rebuild it again. With new pistons. I drove my car to a local Z club meeting tonight at Buena Park. And she drove like a champ! Not one problem on her maiden voyage. Man I am SOOOOOO happy. I just had to tell you guys.
  4. your right, the speedo and tach are 5 in. the smaller trio are 2 5/8 in.
  5. That would make a difference.Put some weight on the suspension. I'll bet that should do it. By the way I've put the 17x8's in the front and it clear's the fender, but the inner portion of the tire will rubber the frame rails when I turn the steering wheel. One more thing, the 17x8's will only fit if you have converted the struts to coilover's.
  6. I'm running 17x8 centerlines in the rear, with 5 inch backspace. Although I'm using stock wheel bolt pattern and stock hubs. You may want to e-mail Ross at moderm motorsports to get some info. Ross is very knowledgable and helpful. I've also read the post's and most people who use the 300zx front hubs are using 5.75 in backspacing, That is odd that the wheels you have stick out that much in the front? I'm 99.9% sure that 5 inch backspace should work for the rear. I hope that helps.
  7. Sorry to hear what happened to you. And I find it disgracefull. However I believe your anger in this persons conduct may have influenced your comments. My dad is 75 years old, and he calls me a "youngster". And I'm 42. But bad conduct knows no age limit.
  8. Nice Tim, I like new vents better. It doesn't break up the hood lines as much as the old ones did. And that LT1 really looks nice in the engine bay, nice and low. It looks like you have 3 to 4 inches of hood clearence. . I only wish I could make your party next month, with my car.
  9. Hi Flip. Sorry to hear about your trouble, Have you e-mailed Ross? He's good at answering his e-mail. You might want to do a search for 300z CV. I think Tim240z posted some pictures on that process. Good luck.

    V10?

Hi JimHalsey. I'm so glad that your not mad about me taking the pictures of your car . Your car will be one of the BADDEST Z's out there . After seeing it for myself, you might want to check out MODERN MOTOTSPORTS website. They are coming out with NEW axel stubs, and beefier CV joint's. With that engine you'll need a bullet proof drivetrain back there. I hear nothing but good things about Ross's customer service. Anyway welcome aboard Jim. P.S. I can't wait to see the finished product.
  11. Glad your back in it. What a break, how often does that happen?
  12. I have to agree with blackbeaut, I to bought some nut's and they where in fact 14x1.5 mm .

    V10?

Hi guys. I'm glad you all enjoyed the pics. The Z is in a pro-builder's shop. I don't even know the owner's name. All Golly and Nelson said was this guy called last year and wanted the baddest Z ever. So they kicked around the idea of the viper engine. Then 2 months later parts started arriving at their door. Like the whole drivetrain, brakes, suspension, and finally the car. The owner hasen't even seen his car. The estimate for the build is around 70gs. It'll probably go higher than that when it's completed. Who knows. Sorry guys I don't know much than that.

  19. I was wondering about that mount 3 months ago. I finally go around to making one myself, but never mounted it. I install it this week and report my results as well. Thanks for the update Dan.
  20. Thanks for your response kevin. as always you brought some insight to this subject that I haven't even thought about. You know I may have found the reason for the piston's failures. In the discussion with the machine shop, they said they bored the block for 0.0035 clearance. They said they like to make them on the tight side to reduce piston slap noise when the engine is cold. But when I went to Federal Mogal's and summit racing web site's, They both said 0.0050 clearence. Could it be that the 0.0015 make the difference? It could explain why the motor ran fine when cold, until it warmed up. I'm going to have to take this information to the machine shop to see what they say. By the way the part number on Federal Mugal's website is LW2605F30. The piston's made of 2618 aluminum. Thanks for your input guys.
  21. Jap tin. The pistons are Speed Pro. aka TRW. forged -12 cc , 383 stroker SBC PN# LW2605. The whole top and second lands are scorind around the circumfrance of the piston. It's my understanding that if the rings where to but up against each other, the top land would be pulled and or yanked away from the piston. Maybe someone may have a link to some pictures of different damages that are possable to a piston's and there causes? Thanks Jan tin.
  22. Thanks for all your help guys. I finally got a call from the engine builder he said that 3 pistons top and second lands had failed? Not the piston skirts thrust face , but the top lands. How could that it be? If the shop didn't machine the bores large enough, woul'nt the skirts be scored. They are saying the that motor was probably running lean. Could you guys figure this out. The builder said he's never seen anything like that before? The motor didn't smoke. didn't overheat. It would just shut down after about 10 to 20 minutes of warmup. #6 and #7 pistons were the ones that were damaged. One more thing, do you guys think should I be paying for the damaged parts? I want to be fair about it. Grumpy. Kevin. Thanks again.
  23. 4 inches backspace in front and 5 inches in back. I have 17x7 and 17x8's :lol:By the way 8 inch wheels won't fit with stock suspenion, only with coilover's, Other wise 7 inches all around for stock suspension.
  24. Hi Phantom, I did a mazda miata power steering conversion. The little that I did get to drive my car, that's another story, The steering feels great. It's not too light on the freeway. and great low effort around town. You can view my pictures on my yahoo account. Just click on the 'WWW on the bottom of this post. I haven't figured out how to hyperlink the address without typing the whole address? Sorry.
