For $2000 you can get a nice ZX shell... As stated, if theres an attachment to the car go for it, start to learn how to weld and do metal work. If not find yourself a better platform.

I dont know, do they still sell them? How would you know your getting the proper wire, as far as when it will burn through? Ill check with them anyways.

The current system is fuel pump to filter, to fuel rail, T's off to the gauge and the FPR and then back to the tank through the line that went to the FPR. So it is before the regulator already.

Need the fusible links for an 81 turbo. I burned a couple of mine up...
-
Yeah Ive got another one Ill put on, Im just not sure why it would be the regulator if it works fine but who knows. Now that I think about it, im going to try a different fuel filter. The one on there now is a plastic clear filter meant for carbed cars, aka really low fuel pressures. Ill switched it out with a fuel injection one and see if that helps.

My 81 turbo will be running the stock ecu with the aid of a Begi FMU. In order to run increased fuel pressure I bought a 255lph walbro high pressure fuel pump. Problem that presented itself was a bit of overpressurizing. With the stock regulator and fuel pump I run the correct fuel pressure in boost, about 42 psi. In this condition the engine seems to run well. When the new walbro is put on still using the stock regulator I get fuel pressures in the range of 50 psi. This makes the engine run very rich as expected. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The stock regulator works well with the stock pump, so I dont think its the regulator. Is it possibly the return line going to the tank is too small, or even the lines going to fuel rail? Also, forgot to mention, I havent installed the FMU yet and I dont expect installing it would give me the proper fuel pressures I needed... or would it? Thanks

Do you mean JSK?

Sorry, already got one. Thanks anyways.

Has anyone seen/have pictures of a Z with an exhaust like this

Cause it is... -
Cool car and exhaust, stupid video. Oooo lets rotate the camera around to seem artsy. Definitely not the stock tank. Ive wanted to do something similar. Some of the BRE datsuns had two pipes coming strait out the back in the center, looked pretty awesome. Youll also find some of the newer rx8s have a huge single exhaust in the middle of the back.

Got it working!!! That means I can start to drive this car. Ill stop by sometime this week and give you a peak.

I think I found out what it was, when I originally pulled the plugs on my relays behind the glove box I didnt notice anything wrong. But once I was able to actually pull them out I noticed that the fuel pump relay and the accesory relay have one tab that was rusty and broke off inside of the connector/plug. Im going to go to pick and pull and grab the two relays off of my old 81 which I found there. haha Ill be sure to bring the car by if I get it on the road soon.

Anyone have any idea on how to tell which pins on the motors wiring plug is which? There are like 10 different wires going into the motor and I dont want to fry the motor hitting the wrong two wires.

Aziza z in the "like a g6" music video

Funny that you can memorize the entire song and sing along after listening for about 20 seconds.. haha How did you get the opportunity to do this? -
Nope, never found any at junkyards. Only purchased from people on the forums. My current turbo intake has the egr removed like the one you bought from me but I just want to find an n42.

Ah that sucks man. That got messed up pretty bad on the back... What kind of insurance did you have? I wonder how theyll deal with the fact the RB was swapped in.

Alright little update... 78 280z: Pulled everything out of the engine bay and have begun to weld up the holes and smooth out everything. I currently have all the holes on the passenger side welded, skimmed with a little bit of jb weld and a layer of bondo that I will sand smooth in the morning. Plan is to try and get the engine bay all finished up this weekend. I didnt want to have to remove the master cylinders and everything on the drivers side of the engine bay where the paint is pretty good so I will be looking for a similar silver to repaint the area behind the radiator support. Everything forward of that will be sprayed with the color of the car. Ill add some pictures tomorrow hopefully of the passenger side of the engine bay all nice and smooth. 81 280zx: Alright, when I first bought the car when getting on boost it would make a venting noise. I never was able to find out what it was and I didnt think it was the pop off valve.. Since parking the car last fall I havent really driven it much, just quick stuff around the block. Anways, I finally got to trying to get it running better and installed a boost gauge... Couple runs and I noticed it was running at 20 psi!!! Sadly the pop off valve had been replaced with a pipe plug so there wasnt any failsafe. I quickly parked the car and removed the wastegate and found that someone has plugged it with silicone not allowing it to get a boost signal from the outlet of the turbo. I cleared it out and reinstalled it to find it now boosts a nice consistent 6-7 psi. I did a compression test and everything was 110ish, very consistent across the board so Im not concerned that anything was damaged, I attribute that to me rarely getting to drive it wide open in boost. Either way it is now running at the proper boost level but loosing power in the upper rpm range. I installed a fuel pressure gauge (will get pictures soon) and it is reading 40 psi before starting the car and while idleing. Hopefully Ill be able to narrow down the issue and get it running at its full potential for stock boost levels. Ill also add that parts are ordered and on there way... 24x12x3 inch intercooler (2.5 inch in/outlet) from member coldfusion- Not here yet Manual boost controller- Recieved Walbro GSL392 255lph Fuel Pump with install kit- Not here yet Begi FMU #2025- Not here yet Boost gauge- Installed Fuel Pressure Gauge- Installed

Yep, ive bought like 3 of them for around 60 dollars so Im trying to pay around that much, but let me know what you have and how much. Thanks Derek

I got one from a 78. Ill let it go cheap..

Update. I sold the engine parts from the black 81 and bought a silver 81 turbo. I did basically all the same things to the engine as on the black car but a little nicer. Heres the plan... Ive removed the engine from the 78 already and have began cleaning the engine bay. I removed most everything from the engine bay except the master cylinders, and the fuel injection harness. I got the main harness out for cleaning. I was planning on repainting the engine bay the grey my car is but after cleaning everything up the original silver will work pretty well. Some touch ups here and there and itll look good. As for the 81 Im trying to sort out the windshield wipers in order to reregister the car and be legal (thank you mom and dad )I am also sorting out a few issues with the car as it runs now but its hard to test stuff when you cant drive the car... at the point I get it on the road and its running good I will be installing an intercooler, new fuel pump, FMU, manual boost controller as well a good set of gauges so I know what all is going on. I will at that point bump up the fuel pressure and boost. 15 psi for boost and I believe it was around 60 for the fuel. I am still looking into it and it will for sure be a slow process and a very tedious one... Stay tuned for more. Im gonna get a older mechanic friend to help me sort out the 81 within the next week hopefully and we can start to make some progress on prepping my turbo engine!!

Well when I bought my 81 turbo the previous owners had removed the tps plug leaving just bare wires. I was able to get a 3 wire TPS plug from a junkyard N/A ZX and went to wire it up but obviously 3 wires dont wire up well to 2. My question is can I even use the 3 wire plug on my 81 turbo TPS successfully? If so, which wires would go where on the plug. The two wires coming from the harness are blue/black and blue/green and the three wires coming from the TPS plug are blue/red, blue/yellow, blue/white. Any help would be appreciated. The engine is running somewhat abnormally at certain rpms and I am really hoping this is playing some part in the issue. Also if the need arises to get a 2 wire plug let me know if someone has one for sale. Thanks!

Not the same sadly.

So the wipers dont work on my 81 turbo, I really dont have to time to find the issue and make them work with the normal switch on the console so I was thinking there might be a way to "hot wire" the wipers to work from just a toggle switch. I really dont need wipers, but want them to work just in case. Id want them to just be on the highest setting. I was looking at the plug that goes into the wiper motor in the engine bay. Would there be a way to run power to that plug through a toggle switch or would that make it where the wipers wouldnt go back and forth? Also if you have any tips on getting them working a different way let me know. Some of the stuff in the dash doesnt work, radio, ac/heater, so I dont know if it could be a single problem that wiped all of them out. The arm with all of the light switches works fine so everything isnt broken. All the fuses in the cabin look fine. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
