  1. CUT slot across the screw head for a flat blade screwdriver. Use a hacksaw - not a power (dremel would be tempting) tool - sparks in the gas tank would not be good.
  2. I do not recall drawings for the 240SX brackets ever being shown around here. Here is a drawing for Sentra caliper bracket. The whole intall is in an article on zhome (IZCC) http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/Calipers/RearDisk.htm I think the 280ZX caliper / Maxima bracket / has been drawn up and is floating around too.
  3. How long have they got before Ferrari's lawyers put them out of business?
  4. It's been done on a Datsun 510. Assuming you have a vented rotor in mind. [/url]http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/pictures/Graeme_Suckling.htmlhttp:// Note the big adaptor plate to span between the Nissan strut lugs which are about 3.5" apart, and the Mazda caliper lugs, which are about 6.25" apart. If you are fitting a small enough rotor, the 4 holes can be in a straight line. I've mocked this up with a 300ZX 11" rotor, and the caliper needs to ride out about 1/2", making a bigger ( and presumed less rigid) adaptor plate.
  5. http://www.otherpower.com/otherpower_experiments_charger.html Here's one. 60 amps!!
  6. How about a battery charger - don't they provide 12V at about 10 amps?
  7. Technically, Its a Ferrari......Also technically its a replica, or a re-body...or?. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2403982642&category=6212
  8. Aren't many of the 427 Cobra replicas on 90" wheelbase frames? There must be 20 manufacturers of Cobra Kits. Maybe one will sell you a frame. I saw 2 un-assembled Cobra kits on eBay last week.
  9. Too proud or too lazy to work in the food service industry...but not too proud to beg.
  10. Therefore, you'll need to put a 12mm bolt gearset on your shopping list to use that item.
  11. I had to use a rear sump pan from a '79 Capri on the 2.8L v6. It fit just like the Triumph engine - over and behind the crossmember. Are you looking at the rear sump FOX-body Mustang or Econoline van 302 oilpan? (for the 302 v8). Somewhere I have a few photos (analog) and many CAD drawings leftover from that project. I'll let you know what I find. Here's a funny memory: the Ford 4 speed SROD has the shifter at the end of the transmission tailshaft (much like the T-5). It was about 6 inches behind the (enormous) hole in the Spitfire's trans tunnel (is yours made of cardboard?)I turned the shifter lever around, bent forward, a la Shelby's Cobra.
  12. These Aren't cheap Shifter Photos But might give you some inspiation as you search for parts. Looks like a couple of Heim joints, plate steel, a shift lever, and a threaded rod.
  13. I put a Ford Pinto 2.8L V6, 4 spd in a '72 Spitfire about 10 years ago. It took an extra u-joint in the steering column, but everything else was stock. A 302 would put you in league with Carroll Shelby. The spitfire already has a decent rack & pinion steering - actually it was a pretty advanced car in 1962. (full independent suspension, disk brakes, 62 HP ...)Don't know where the steering column will interfere on a 90 deg V8. The Spitfire frame is very narrow where the front suspension locates the upper A-arms. If you stick with the Spitfire front suspension, the exhaust head pipes pipes will have to go over and outside the frame rails, Due to the double wishbone shape of the frame rails there isn't much room down the middle for a transmission, driveshaft, and exhaust. Unfortunately, there are outrigger supports from the rails to the door sills that eat up most of your ground clearance. Good idea to consider the Pinto/Mustang II front suspension, I'd stick with the Ford rack. Once you have done that up front - and changed to a Datsun IRS - I would look at statrting with a full custom frame in between. Then drop the Triumph body on it. You could probably sell the un-molested, rolling, rust-free Spitfire frame to someone doing a restoration.

    Pinto Ad

I had a Vega once. It rusted - in Phoenix!!
  15. I see the "Caesar" speech has made the rounds. Best thing about it is the embarrasment sandwich Barbara Streisand had to eat for lunch. Julius didn't say this
  16. I'm curious about those strut tower bars that tie in the firewall.
  17. Shipping is free from Harbor Freight on orders over $50.
  18. Yup. Now I see it. Same grille is on this guy - although it has a typical Alf higher beltline
  19. Good luck with building and selling Ferrari replica kits. I hope you know some good lawyers. The editorial in this month's Kit Car Magazine is about Ferrari suing replica builders out of business. They've even one after a one-off builder who made a Camaro-based F-40 that was pretty enough for a magazine story. On another subject: Does this grille say "Maserati" to you?

    Puckett GTO

Puckett sent me a really nice color brochure, install manual, and price list a few years back. From the photos I believe that the rear hatch is eliminated and the rear opening is more like a short decklid. The rear clip is one huge molded part and includes the quarters, door sils and roof!!! Also, they stretch the wheelbase 4" (by moving the front suspension forward), so they do have a longer hood, which makes the proportions more like a real GTO.
  21. Your bellhousing will work. Just plan on using one of these Hydraulic Throwout Bearing
  22. If it's a stick transmission, (I didn't notice if its auto or stick) make sure its in neutral, don't assume the clutch will disengage after 10 years. The Disk might be frozen to the flywheel.
  23. Have you Read Terry's article on the IZCC site? http://www.zhome.com/
