  1. My thanks to Dan and the admins for 8 years of hard work. Mike
  2. I can't get to the receipts right now, but I think it was about $45 for the elbows and aluminum tubing for the intake. I'm sure you can find the prices on their web site. The fluids kit would have been ok except that the oil pressure sensor relocation part doesn't work with the JTR headers. And with the aftermarket guages you won't need the temp sender parts either. So, no with your swap I wouldn't buy it. The heater hoses are just hoses. Buy some in bulk and cut to length. JTR has an adapter3/4 to 5/8, but I think you can get those at an auto parts store. The bleeder T with the steam vent fitting is available from JTR too. I think you could just bend some wire in the shape you need for radiator hoses and go to the parts store and match up to find the ones you need. Hope that helps, Mike
  3. Oh yeah, Have to reprogram the ECU, get rid of VATS, skip shift, etc. About $300. I'd get the Helms manual for the donor car-about $150-and a good wiring diagram for the Z (I just got the one off E-bay-much easier to read than the one out of the shop manual) $25. And tires- you'll need lots of rears.
  4. couple of small things, Radiator and heater hoses. Tee and bleeder valve for above. I ended up using one radiator hose from the JCI fluids kit and one from the donor car (gto). Got the t with bleeder from JTR. Oh yeah, you'll need gas money, cause for some reason the smile on your face seems to link directly to your right foot. Mike
  5. I put electric mirrors from a zx on my car, didn't like them, then put some from a 1st gen rx7 on. Really like them and adjusting is no longer a problem. Mike
  6. It's amazing that you were able to stop at work. I'd probably still be driving. Good for you.
  7. I agree that tires are the biggest improvement you can make for the wet. With a bad tread pattern or just old hard tires, the LSD will definately be more prone to oversteer if you have any power at all. Mike
  8. With the 3.54 rear end gears, I don't know for sure about 1st 35ish, shifted out of 2nd just over 60, third about 95. Hope this helps. Mike
  9. Mounts for the truck engines are pretty much the same. Different intakes, exhaust, throttle bodies etc.
  10. 2. When it comes to a V8 swap, how hard is the mounting when using a newer LSx based motor and the JTR kit? I have a buddy that is certified in welding, but how hard is the alignment/fitment with say a T5/T56/NV3200(from the trucks) mounted to it? Reguarding question #2. The JTR kit is for the older small block chev engives- will not work with LSx. Now the kit from JCI- Brokenkitty.com works very well with the LSx. Now, If you were to just search, Grasshopper, you will find all the answers to all your questions. Mike
  11. You guys in Spokane are having too much fun. My car hasn't even been out of the garage in a while. I used to live up there and am hoping to make a trip up there again this spring. I have a lot of family around Newport. I bought my LS2 at Spauldings. I'd like to meet up with you maybe if we do get up there. Mike
  12. I'm just glad I'm not paying the tire bill on that power wheel.
  13. Yeah I really do understand climate change. But that's not going to stop me from bitching about a little snow. Mike:mparty:
  14. And its piling up even deeper. If all the parts I've worn out on my snow blower don't show up soon we might not get out til spring. I have a few neighbors who physically can't take care of their own driveways and sidewalks, so I do it for them. This year has been the worst here in many, many years. And its cold. And the wind blows. So where do I sign up for this global warming stuff? Ok, enough rants. And for you guys who can still go racing on the weekends- THpppppppp! Mike
  15. Make sure the wires at the ignition switch are plugged in correctly. It is possible to plug it in upside down, and that doesn't seem to work. (It happened to me) Mike
  16. I read a test with 7" rims rececently. They used 205, 215, and 225 width tires and found that the best grip was with the 215's. I have 225's on 7" rims and need to go wider but am going to have to get bigger rims to have it do any good. Putting wider tires on narrow rims just screws up the contact patch. Mike
  17. Yep, LSx's too! Had pretty much the same thing happen while just checking the fan operation in the garage. Mike
  18. Ron, As long as its hooked up to the correct wire, it should work. The pic looks right, just don't know for sure about the PCM to tach splice. I'd call John's and see what they say. I did have to send mine back once, then Perfect! Luckily I didn't put my dash cover on til it was working. I liked the looks of your exhaust too. I bet it sounds great. I hope the weather in Longmont is better than here, too nasty to get the Z out of the garage. Mike
  19. That lower tool-the bendy one, not the one with the handle-is one of the most used tools in my box. I've used it for a lot of stuff. I'm worried though. It's almost worn out and I can't find another one in any of the local tool stores to replace it. I don't know the proper name for it or I would search the internet. I don't know, maybe I could borrow Phil's anc just forget to return it. Mike
  20. These things stock kinda run out of steam before they get to redline. If its pulling well and then craps out, it could be fuel flow- maybe just fuel filter. Cam timing can cause that too. What rpms are you talking about? I thought I might get a chance to run over there today, but got busy with other stuff. Maybe sometime next week. Mike
