  1. Tommy, JTR's manuals are a must, even if you use John's kit. It really depends on the engine you are swapping. I used John's for my LS conversion-its the only kit available-and while the manual isn't the easiest to follow, the parts are top notch. Mike
  2. Glad you got to drive it, and glad to see another member in the area. Mike
  3. Looks to me like you made a great choice. Congrats, Mike
  4. I know the JCI kit saved me tons of time. I'm was not building a hard core racer, and the kit made it easy for me to do the swap in about 5 weeks working just a couple of hours here and there. And now I have a really nice car to drive that should be extremely reliable. Mike
  5. RW, I used the tilton 75 series. It is shorter. Then I picked up a 90 degree elbo to put in the master to hook up to the line. Leaves plenty of room for the bottle. This might work with the 74 series but I don't know. The Datsun unit is only 5/8" and won't work. I tried that too. Good luck. Mike
  6. Used the existing mount that was on the lever end. Used one of the bolts for the hood release or vent that is right there and drilled for the other one. Had it that way for 18 years. Mike
  7. As far as I know they all mounted to the drivers side of the console. I don't have pics, and I no longer have the choke, but in my 280 I shortened the cables and housings and mounted mine under the dash next to the hood release cable. Worked great. Mike
  8. Yeah, and I definately wouldn't get rid of the original hubcaps or mod the engine or in any other way try to make it "yours".
  9. Thank you so much for your service to the rest of us. And let the guys around you know that we appreciate all of you. And last of all, please stay safe and stay in touch. Mike
  10. Welcome to the club! Looks like you got a really nice Z.
  11. The lighting on the pic's make it hard to tell for sure. One other possibility is 2006 Nissan R10 Orange Metallic. Mike
  12. I have never attempted this but I have heard that if you reach in through the grill and unbolt the hood from the hinges, you may be able to carefully move it (lift from the front) around enough to reach in and flip the latch. Good luck, Mike
  13. Even Ford guys like Z's. Even modified Z's. I took mine out to the Ford garage soon after I put the LS2 in it to show it to a couple of friends of mine who are techs there. The owner told me I could pick any Mustang GT on the lot if I wanted to trade. He wouldn't go for the Shelby though. I'll keep the de-valued 280. Mike
  14. I still have the ski racks for mine. Used to drive it up the hill 4-5 times a week for years. Good tires are the key. Never had studs. Probably why I had the rust when we stripped it down. I learned to drive in snow, mud and cow %$*&, and I can tell you that properly tired the Z is a great snow car. Mike
  15. Grumpy, I use that same caster on the jack wheels on my boat and raft trailers. Made a big difference in ease to move them around the place too. MIke
  16. I didn't see a fan on the list or a fuel pressure regulator. Just looking. MIke
  17. Pop, I had the same issues when I was trying to find a couple of stray parts. Everwhere I went or called they said the pull all the LSx motors and sell them as complete take-outs for swaps. Guess the market is that good. Mike
  18. My story's about the same as Hickl's, Painted it one winter, then pulled the L6, painted the bay, and put the LS in the next winter. I like to drive it. Mike
  19. You might just try bleeding the system and check for leaks. If the slave is leaking around the seals you will get fluid around the piston. The master may be leaking inside the cylinder, and may leak back inside the car at the fire wall. But, again, its really not very spendy to just change them both out if you want to drive your car. Good luck, Mike
  20. I third the gussets. I wish I'd have known you were looking for GTO mounts, I'd have given you mine. Mike
  21. I would also check the connections in the passenger side footwell near the console. They are particularly prone to corrosion because if you've ever had a leak in your heating system, thats where it drips. Mike
  22. Nice vid, really nice sounds from the car Clive. Man, I don't know how you do it without the heat, and the heater really doesn't waste any HP ya know. Mike
