  1. Alternator clearance issue solved, goes like stink. Haven't tried to fix the speedo issue yet but I think MAS280 has the right idea for that. I will get some vids soon. Mike
  2. Mike- good ideas. How did you re clock the alternator without screwing up the rear mount location? Mike
  3. Ok, the snow is gone and we took it out for some short spins around the block. Of course I have no tach, it is back at JCI. And my cableX speedo drive from Abbott enterprises is not making the speedo go. It works fine in test mode but doesn't seem to be picking up the VSS signal from the ECM. Minor issues. Also apparently I didn't clearance enough around the hot alternator connection because when I get on it a little, I lose all electrics. If I just drive it normally, all is fine. I was kind of prepared for this to happen. But it was still great to get it out and drive it a little and it does drive great. Mike
  4. Pop, The adapter that came with my JCI kit works great, I wish the tach was as easy. Thier adapter moves the sender from the Z to a location on the lower left side of the block where a brass plug is. Then plug it into your existing z wire and it works. For the fan we used the leads from the ECM and added 2 relays and supplied power to them. Again, the fans work great. Just wish my tach would work. Sent it back to JCI this morning.
  5. I am not good with computers. But it was easy to post my pics at Cardomain.com, then post a link in my signature. Mike
  6. james- That might have been my page on cardomain? Different yellow car-no g-nose and an LS2. The other 2 main books are the helm's manuals for the GTO donor car. The rest is stuff I downloaded from this site from different posters, mostly MAS280. Mike
  7. Bill, Sounds like you are right on top of it. Too bad about your small leak. I'd just go ahead and fix it now, but you'd probably be ok for a while with some kind of patch. Do you have pic's posted somewhere? Good luck on your start up. Mike PS- Boise State Rules!
  8. Also, I think with an LS engine you will probably be making your own mounts as John's only offers them for the S30 cars so far. Mike
  9. Joey, Thanks, and I do know that is a fine compiment. Sergio and Mike have been tons of help with this project as well as many others on this site. I have the helms manuals for the donor and we are using the wire listed although the stripe on the wire (as Mike had already let me know) is not listed in the book. I called John's yesterday and although they were closed for the week, John called me back immediately! He is going to talk to his tach guy and see if he has any ideas. If I find anything else out I will post. In the mean time if anyone else has the fix, I'm listening. Mike
  10. Yeah, I read about that but as I am not using an HEI or any other distributor, I don't know if that will apply here, I have been told not. And I am not getting any needle movement at all. Thanks, Mike
  11. Yellow. Mine is stock Datsun code 411, but If I was doing again I might do the 2005 only limited edition pearl Yellow that is on my wife's roadster. It looks really great in the sun. Mike
  12. Mine is stock Datsun yellow #411 but if I was doing it again I'd probably choose the Yellow Pearl Nissan '05 only that is on my wife's roadster. It really looks great in the sun (which we haven't seen for too long).
  13. I fired up my LS2/T56 for the first time Friday night. Everything is sweet except the tach. No needle movement whatsoever. Johns recalibrated it during the swap, there is power, but no rpm's. What to do? Thanks for your input, Mike
  14. Paul- thanks for that idea, I'll try to borrow one of the earlier tachs next week. Any other ideas out there? Mike
  15. looks really good- I know you can't wait to fire it up. I fired mine for the first time last night. Snow on the ground so I can't drive it but its ready. Mike
  16. Fired it up for the first time last night. I'll post video when I have time. I didn't take it out because of the snow, but every thing works except the tach. Johns recalibrated it for me and I hooked it up to the tach lead from the ECM but I get nothing. Any thoughts? I tried searching already but can't find what I need. Buy the way it sounds AWESOME. Thanks to everyone here for all your help so far-you guys are way cool! Mike
  17. I used the JCI kit and for a first timer it went really well. I also used the coated headers from JTR which were a little pricey but very nice, and with all the $$ I have put into this car the little extra for the coated Sanderson's doesn't seem like that much. I also used the JTR radiator but got pretty much every thing else from John's. Mike
  18. Wayne, thanks for the support but moving is not in the cards. I can drive on dry pavement most days even in winter, and where we live I can enjoy all my other hobbies (white water rafting, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, shooting, golfing, etc) all less than 1 hour from home. Oh, my ecm is supposed to be on the UPS truck tonight- I bet I don't get far from the front door. Mike
  19. Kbhead- Looks like you are really going to town on your car. I'm sure it will be fantastic. Mike
  20. Wow I love the body work, and nice color too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike
  21. Its in the garage on the trailer, going in for exhaust in the morning. The ecm should be back maybe by the end of the week, then (hope and pray) fire it up and when we get some decent weather, a first drive.
  22. Kb- I bought the oil pan, tray, pickup tube, dipstick and tube at the local GM dealer. At jobber price they were less than most used ones were going for on Ebay. I got the clutch master along with the whole pedal assembly with the engine I bought. I didn't try the stock manifolds as I decided to get the coated headers, but John at JCI could probably tell you if they will work as he bought my stock manifolds to try them on different cars. You will also need a 98-02 camaro firebird motor mount for the left side as the GTO mount will not work. If you are running a T56 you will need a different shifter too. The B&M GTO shifter seems to work well. mike
