Yeah Joe that's the same number I called, Tried again today and got the same message, looks like their tits up. we'll be staying in downtown San Francisco, not San Jose.
-
I was trying to remain hopeful but deep down inside I had a feeling that it was closed. So while I have the attention of the locals, any one want to recommend a good restaurant for her birthday dinner. Secluded, maybe an outdoor courtyard nestled between two buildings, NOT touristy in any way, and enjoyable food?

I'm taking my girl to San Fran for her B-day (Shhhhhh ) and was thinking about renting a 240Z for the weekend to drive out to Carmel...does anyone know if this place is still operating? I called the number and just came up with a generic answering machine. tanks.

San Antonio to Seattle just isnt going to happen I'm afraid...if the car was drivable I would consider flying up there and driving it back. A local deal is what i'm after.
-
That's a heck of a deal! but too far away crud! That's only 100$ more than the one I'm looking at but with a complete interior and engine... maybe I need to rethink my offer. I like just about everything on the black on except the wheels. It is a bit too gusied up though for my tastes especially with the M10 in there, now an M52 or something would really fit that car...but maybe not in it! Well, tomorrow night is the night I make my decision. I'm on the fence at this point, even more so now that I've seen that other '02 on craigslist.

Porsche 914 maybe? maybe even JC whitney back in the VW section

Losing interest in the Z...what would you do if you had the money?
Sparky replied to zeeboost's topic in Non Tech Board
It took me a long time to get here. At one point in time I had four project cars in various states of completion. It wasn't until I made some poor decisions on great opportunities that I realized that my possessions were possessing me and I sold everything but the one Z and bought a used Honda Accord. While I had a craving for fast and fun cars over that 5 year span that reliable go anywhere utility machine made life much easier and it's low maintenance / low modification appeal allowed me to focus on my life, personality, and education. Now I have the one Z that I love, but am terrified to drive for fear of theft of vandalism or collision. It sits patiently in my garage for those perfect days and while It would be nice to drive all the time I'm moderately satisfied with the outcome. Everyone is different though... take a step back and inventory your goals and survey your life. happy? satisfied? anything you want to do that might be difficult with things all around? good luck. -
lol... photo journalism at it's finest!

Sell it and move on, once you start to have doubts you may lose motivation and the project will drag on. you've got a good stable of cars that you can't possibly drive all at once. I would start to downsize and focus on getting your education figured out while driving something reliable, clean and quick. Personally I see Vettes and vipers al the time and they are boring to me because they are almost always stock... but if I see a cleanly modded RS4 or M3 or even a IS300 I pay more attention... that all boils down to a personal preference though so pay no mind to me babbling. I would really love to have a car I can get in and out of comfortably, take long trips in without being a ricer or cop magnet, park it downtown without fear of it getting pissed on or otherwise desecrated, parallel park it, and throw bikes on during a camping trip. I would imagine that I could get really annoying trying to go camping or the beach in a Viper or a Vette. good luck. -
F'n Balls that's crazy fast.

I don't recognize any of those cars. I used to be affiliated with some CVAR guys back in the day (early 2000's) running some really cool machines. I don't think any of those cars were "legal" by any stretch... man I remember some real sketchy stuff. The money was really starting to flow in right about when I left the crew although there was still a good mix of backyard racers with open trailers and a tent. Big money rigs and full support crews really changed the scene I bet. People started forming little clicks and it got to the point where the camaraderie of the event wasn't there anymore, people wouldn't let you borrow tools or even stop by your trailer to chat it up about your cars... unless it was a big money machine. funny what a small world it is. anywho, Looks like I'm going to make the move on this car mid week, it's basically just a shell with wheels (four mismatched wheels) and glass so if you know of any good parts sources or guys with stuff they want to throw out keep me in mind. I was thinking about an M20 swap but if I can find an M10 in decent shape I may just throw some sidedrafts on it and call it a day.. there is something about a really simple carbureted car that I miss. first thing is first though, strip it down, fix the rust, prime it and paint it (single stage granada) then start collecting interior parts while looking for the right engine. I'm going to put a schedule of three months for paint and body and 1 month for engine and trans...if I take the plunge of course. decisions decisions.
-
Hey Josh that's the same colour of the one i'm looking at...Granada right? yours has a complete interior though! Those CVAR guys are a bunch of cheaters! So you don't happen to want to get rid of that interior do you?
-
lol, you guys are no help at all.

Well, spent sometime looking at it today, I'm going to try that bulkhead fitting afterall. Turns out the wire is not woven into the hose so if I simply spread them apart I have all the room I need. I just need to make sure the nut is tight and safety wired.

In my quest to become the dumbest man alive I've decided to look into purchasing yet another project car... that car is a 1971 BMW 2002. I had one many years ago that was destroyed by an individual of supreme ignorance (despite what you think I'm not speaking of myself.) and have recently come across one missing the engine and trans (I'm thinking M20 swap) replacement parts prices are among the most absurdly over priced I've ever encountered so I'm looking for a bit of wisdom from current and previous owners on the potential pit falls of 02 ownership for daily driving duties. This car is in need of love, lots of it, but since I was considering buying a new car this year i'm thinking that I can take that monthly payment and have something that's not going to depreciate as soon as I drive (or tow) it home. 224$ for a brake master cylinder? crazy talk. thanks

I knew a guy down in Texas that had a 510 wagon 4x4...didn't think there was more than one out there.
-
I thought about the bulk head fitting but wasn't confident I could get it to seal correctly, add to the fact that now I'll have a "nut" of sorts with the potential to loosen and fall into the inlet. I could safety wire it together, but after looking at the reinforced hose I only have 1/4' of space between the wires...not enough space for the fitting. I'm not so much worried about the clamps becoming loose as I am the addition of 3" and as silly as it may sound, the negative aesthetic aspect of the "cobbled" together intake...the cleaner I can keep my install the better. The number one factor above all else is making sure I don't screw something up
-
I have a length of wire reinforced aircraft ventilation tube routed to the interstitial space between the radiator and intercooler where I have my airfilter. I was going to weld on a fitting to a 3" metal pipe that I would insert between the compressor housing and airfilter, but that's 2 additional clamps and atleast 3-4 inches of length added to an already cramped section of engine bay.
-
I'm looking to minimize my use of clamps and hose in my catch can installation, What are the negative aspects of drilling tapping the turbine inlet for a vacuum fitting? below is a photo of my intended installation spot is there an issue with turbulence caused by disruption of the smooth transition into the blades? I'm looking at a -6 0r -8 fitting. I cannot imagine to much of an issue but Im not an expert on fluid dynamics and am probably being overly cautious. Thanks everyone

Late 80's Early 90's Nissan Pathfinder (A little burned)

eight minutes is a long time. Your looking at brake master, booster, all new wiring (I don't how the harness is run or where it terminates but the heat of the fire will travel through the wiring harness and melt things under the dash or in the doors or anywhere really. new engine and trans, new bushings in the front suspension, new wiper motor and wiring, new windshield seal (I would imagine that the bottom is toasted, maybe a new heater core and AC condenser (depending on how hot the firewall got....etc etc. The bolts are probably fused together with rust and gunk so expect lots of time fighting them. 100$ is pocket change though. you could easily buy it and start stripping the engine compartment and asses the damage from there, if it looks bad throw some parts on ebay until you get you 100$ back and then sell the rest to your local junkyard for few hundred. -
congrats, good to hear you've got it back together again!

that sucks.
