I'm in the middle of fitting the gnose and have run into some fairly severe fitment issues. Currently, the gap between the leading edge of the hood and the back of the gnose is large (3/4"!) and there is also the issue of the line between the curve of the leading edge of the hood dropping off more quickly than the the line of the body/gnose. I recognize that this is a little difficult to visualize, but I don't have any pics with me at the moment. I have the nissan factory gnose hinges to change the angle of the hood opening and have adjusted as much as possible to tighten the gaps and yet still allow for no binding/rubbing. Is this inherent with the gnose? Or is this more related to an aftermarket copy? Anybody have any closeup pics of their setup that I could reference? Alan? Anyone? Thanks. If I cant get this thing to fit any better I may be selling the hinges and going a different route. Bryan Dat240zg

Will do. Give me the weekend. Bryan Dat240zg

Actually, I have a set that I've been hanging on to that are in very nice shape. No dings, with a good amount of body work already done. They have had the running lights filled (the reason I'm not going to use them) and are in really nice shape. Give me a shout. Bryan Dat240zg

Guys: Anyone have any pics of the Z31 MAF setup in a 240? I guess the timetable for the Z31 MAF/ECU swap just got moved up thanks to GrayZee . I looked for the ones from the sticky, but no luck - just red x's. Anybody able to point me towards some? Bryan Dat240zg

Some relief for you turbo swappers (maybe)

I'm finishing the parts collection phase and getting ready to start reassembly this summer when I'm done teaching. I'd be very interested - I have my "core" ready for you guys if you need another guinea pig.... Any idea on cost? Bryan Dat240zg -
Rick: Do you have any other pics of the mount that you could post? Bryan

Ross: Just looking at your pics of Ricks R230 mockup. Is that front mount something that you guys are working on or is that Ricks? When's someone going to come up with one so that this can be a bolt in swap? I've had to recognize that my fabbing skills are slim to zip (unlike the majority of you guys) so any bolt in parts are great! Bryan Dat240zg

Alright, I'm at a crossroads right now and need a little input. My lease is up on my storage unit and I have one to many Z's - as if that's possible:). I have a '72 shell that is just about as straight and nice as you can get - all body work done, no rust, basically perfect. On top of that it's stripped down to roller status, so it's almost like a blank canvas. Problem is, I've got my '70 that I've been focusing on to get it finished and I can't do both. '70 is a really low vin #, has some small rust, but nothing major except around the fuel filler and has already had a lot of work done related to the suspension, etc. What (or which one) would you do? Where can I get a weld flange for my t3?
dat240zg replied to datsunan's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Is this what you're looking for? I went with a T3/T04E and am going to purchase one of these to use with an external wastegate. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7951558714&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT There are several different versions on ebay right now for different flanges. Wow. That's really nice. Thanks for the heads up on who to pm. Bryan Dat240zg

Anyone tried this? I have a line on a complete dash, parts, etc. and was just wondering if anyone has already gone down this path. I recognize that there would be a significant amount of fabbing and cutting to make it work, but it might be cool. Any thoughts, pics, insults, etc? Bryan Dat240zg

I searched and thought that there used to be a thread on egr and non-egr manifolds that were cleaned up - prettyfied - but can't find it anywhere. I'm curious to know from some of you guys who have already done the L28 turbo swap and went with the non-egr manifold what you cut (on the manifold) and welded up, etc. Anyone want to volunteer pics? Alan/Ernie/anyone: Are you aware of front end lift problems related to the gnose? It seems the combination of the gnose and the engine belly pan would lead to a lot of air going under the front end. Am I understanding this correctly? If there was an issue with this, was there ever a factory "fix" other than the very large spoiler featured on many of the widebody kits? Thanks again. Anyone have pics of the G-nose hood hinges?
dat240zg replied to dat240zg's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Thanks for that. I guess that I have a new pair of OEM G-nose hinges! Still with the Nissan tag on them. Finally! Something good is happening! Bryan Dat240zg -
I've heard that the hinges used for the hood on Z's that were equipped with a gnose are different/modified from the standard hood hinge. When I purchased my gnose, it came with a set of "brackets" that look similar to hood hinges but are different. I know that that doesn't describe much, but my digital camera is down for the moment recharging, so no pics. Would any of you have pictures of the hinges and could you answer the question of whethere or not the hinges are the same and if they are different, why? Thanks again. Bryan Dat240zg

Guys: I just picked up my Aeromotive pump and man! It's a work of art! Anyone else using 'em? Bryan Dat240zg

RacerX and other guru's.....paint color question
dat240zg replied to dat240zg's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Thanks again for the color insight(s). I appreciate that you are both willing to share the wisdom. I guess that I have never seen an actual factory ZG or G-nose. Alan, the orginal g-nose was fiberglass, right? How was the urethane "bumper" mounted? Is that a part that is still available anywhere? Just to double check, the charcoal color that was used, was it the same as the tail light panel? Is there a paint code for that? What are the FRP "overriders" that you refer to? Also, I believe that you use your ZG for trackday events. Do you ever have any issues with overheating? I will be running a larger intercooler and want to head any overheating issues off before they bite me. Thanks again for the information Bryan Dat240zg -
E: You've always been knowledgable before concerning factory colors and so I have my newest question for you. On the factory G-nose, was the entire nose body colored, or was the lower half of the nose the same charcoal color as the zg flairs and rear spoiler/tail light panel? I'm getting ready to start the long road to paint and want to plan correctly. Thanks in advance for your help. Bryan Dat240zg

fl327: I'd be interested in a 3" for my turbo swap - with the correct 5 bolt exhaust flange for my T3/T04E. Any idea on timetable or cost? Thanks for the work on these! Bryan Dat240zg

Guys: I'm not selling these, just trying to be helpful... My R-230 fell through (deadbeat on ebay) and I had already talked to a person about getting an extra 2 sets of axles. His name is Gary Underwood and was really helpful - drove 4 hours to go pick them up for me. I won't be able to use them but if you would like to contact him, here's his info: gary.underwood@mci.com Got his info off of the TT forums. Bryan Dat240zg

I've heard of rumors of guys working on kits for the mounts but haven't seen anything yet. Finally got my R230...now trying to iron out mounting issues. I know about re-drilling the mustache bar - but as far as the lower mount and the front mount are concerned, is anyone out there fabbing any? Or have one to let go? Also, just to head off the search comments, I have searched and haven't found anything. Cheers, Bryan Dat240zg

Guys: I'm getting ready to order my T3/To4e and honestly don't know what specs to shoot for. I saw the discussion on .63 Stage 3 exhaust w/T04E .57 trim. Would this be a good setup? I'm looking for a turbo that will spool quickly - read autocross/daily driver and would like to have as close to a direct replacement as possible. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated! Bryan Dat240zg

Doh! Drax: Sorry for that one.....I'm an idiot. You mean that turbo forum! I must be loosin it. Gotta be the exhaust fumes or the uh.... Bryan Dat240zg

OK, guess that I should have stated that this is my one post to make certain that my UserID stays current. In reality, I wasn't thinking of a how-to, more of something like different block/head combos, intakes, turbo trim, injectors, etc. And yup...I'm familiar with the Faq and search.... Bryan Dat240zg
