  1. Perfect wheels for a s30z, it gonna looks so right when your project will be done
  2. This thread is coming interesting since I have an rb20det tranny at home and my Z need a transmission upgrade Well the problem is that I know many GT-S R32 user that always broke theirs rb20 trannies and upgrade to an rb25 instead... I mean, the RB20 is a 2.0 liter without "many" torq and can pass through theses trannies like butter so what about a 2.8 liter turbo with mods (more torq/hp here)? I'm not sure if an KA/CA/RB tranny is a kind of an upgrade in term of solidity... Well gears are larger for sure but is this enought to old the numbers of a slightly modded l28et? EDIT: I'm worried about the gears more than the bearings since my 3 l28 trannies that I went through this year was due to exploded gears inside and not bearings issues (2 times the fifth gear though)... EDIT of an EDIT: Is the internals of a RB20 is more like the s13 tranny? If so, I think my problem would be corrected by a s14 tranny since gears are wider?
  3. Well since I'm blowing the gears and not synchro's or bearings, if the Nismo have the same weak and thin ones, I'm gonna put something else... Well the z32 is the ultimate setup!! But I think a s14 one or a Borg Warner will be appropriate with my setup
  4. Well, it seems that the KA swap is a better option that I was thinking but still, I would like to know what is the difference between the Standard Nissan Competition Tranny (with no options) and the stock one? Is it only the synchros that are Warner type? From my understanding, the short ratio (without option) is a non-US tranny and thats it... Nothing special in it but a tranny that was offered everywhere in the world (but not in america) in a stock s30z. Someone can confirm this?
  5. Hi have a Pole position in my car! With the stock floor and side mounts (without sliders) it was perfect. Now my custom floor is lower so I did put sliders and It's perfect too. I love that bucket so much! A SPG is probably a great choice too
  6. Well, from what I understand, there is a "nismo" wide ratio (wich is exactly the same ratios as me), the short ratio (the two first gears are different) and 3 or 4 more trannys with option in them. If it's really the N3200, it should be the Short Ratio (so with an overdrive) and there is no "options" in it? So what is the difference in solidity in that tranny over a stock 280z one (She is supposed to have Warner type syncros but other than that?)? I'm so confused because the ones with options (direct drive) are probably different inside but this one with the same 3 last gear ratio, what is different from a stock one? And for the KA swap, I don't know... Maybe just a Borg Warner is less complicated (or a nissan comp. if it's something that I should consider)
  7. Hi, I did broke my third tranny of the year this week-end and I think that would be the time to upgrade The fact is that I'm running these weak early 5 speed tranny and it seems that the fifth gear is having fun exploding all the time right now, I'm runing a l28et with 13psi with the stock T3 (FMIC, MS2, 3inch exhaust from DP to the back, head and block planned and 0,020 overbore...). I don't plan to make biggers numbers in a near futur and so is a Borg warner really better than the weak stock 280z tranny? My other question is : I found someone with a Nissan Competition 32010-N3200 (well actually this is the number that he gave me but I will re-talk to him to make sure that it is the right one because he's saying that it is a short ratio one...) Do you think that the Nissan Competition Tranny can hold the power better than the weak stock 5 speed tranny? Is it as good as the Borg Warner? Well, thx in advance for your help
  8. Actually, the bamf setup is composed by normal at front. Only the rear is larger. Correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I remember
  9. OMG! wow, this is a perfect wheel set for an s30z! Where did you find some longchamps with such a great offset? These are already pretty rare and to find them with this offset is probably something difficult! You lucky guy
  10. Yea, actually I think that a diagonal brace is the way to go and it is more logic too! Like I'm not running a v8 with enough torq to loose these nuts (running a L28ET) I think I don't have to worry about loosing my rear end on the road Maybe one day I will try the diagonal braces but for what I do with my car, I don't think I need that now... I was just curious and you did answer pretty well at my question thanks! It was on a japanese blog so I'm not able to read it I was just looking at the pics on is website
  11. Hey I just saw that on the web : It's the first time I see that on a Z car... Anyone run something like that? Does it really give something to the stiffness of the car? Just curious....
  12. Hey nice wheels! Love the way you found to make a "roof spoiler", it's original and seems to look great too!
  13. Like I'm always saying, Less is More! The esthetic is pretty much to my taste as it sit now and I don't think adding more stuff on it so it will stay as simple as is it right now! The wheels are Simmons Racing 16x9 front and 16x10 rear that I bought from a member here last year Hey thanks! You can see more pics of the car here : I also Have a built thread but in french on an other board... Thanks for the good comments about the car and the video guys! I just ordered my TTT RLCA today
  14. Hey thanks for the props about the car! Nice to know that people like my 240z + 280z turn signal, I actually think it's unique in a certain way.. I will transmit your good comments about the video to my friend for sure! The name of the guy is Bruno Lebel and is "company" nickname is Onurb Film. He come from Québec, Canada
  15. Hey wanted to share a small videoshoot that a good friend of mine did of my car (280z 76)! Enjoy!
  16. Hmmm not sure about the 225/45/16 to be spot on the actual speed... Normally, from what I saw, 225/50/16 is the correct size to not change your reading... But anyway it's not that important! I agree that 45 of sidewalls would be the choice you want to make if you want to be sure to avoid the maximum of tyre rubbing
  17. simmons3 par Antoine de Cardaillac, sur Flickr 10 inch wheel under my stock fenders... tyres was 225\50\16. So yes a 9 inch wheel can fit under the stock fenders but be sure to have coilovers and roll your fender. I didn't ran my car like this because my rear calipers from my brake upgrade was too large so I needed spacers to keep these wheels so I did put fender flares finally... I can not comment on the rubbing issue of this 10 inch setup with 225 tyres (Wich I think would rub quite heavily...) Maybe with a little bit of fender pulling, it can be acceptable? who knows? Hope it can help you a little!
  18. This car is just perfect! Wow! Sooo perfect! Good color choice
  19. Newer pics of my Z. The Vader helmet is just because my built project is named Vader in an other board 1 2 3 4 5 6
  20. I have a Recaro Pole Position in my 76 280z. It's flush (because of the tranny tunnel) but it fitt! Waayyyyyy better support/position than the stock 280z seats...
  21. Oh thanks a lot! I will look at this this week-end!
