Thank for the advice. I got good advice from Blue @ ClassicZ forum too. Soak with vinegar and washed 3rd time with bottle cleaning brush. My clogged water line is now clear and flow really well. Also got energy bushing @ craigslist. Unfortunately, seller did not tell me there are several bushings are missing before I purchased Well, I can get missing bushes separately. I got nice free gift from my friend. GT25! I can't work on my car at late night after kids went to bed, but I can play with this at night with headphone

Looks Great car! I wonder why the 3rd carb fuel line is not connecting 1st and 2nd line.

Nice! Which coil over kit did you use? -
Over the weekend, I had time to wash N42 head with boiled hot water with parts washer fluid. Clogged carbon is hard to removed. I need to dip parts longer time with the liquid keep warm. I need this bucket heater to keep liquid warm. http://www.amazon.com/MARSHALLTOWN-Premier-742G-Bucket-Heater/dp/B000BDB4UG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2QRZ54ZT313XU&coliid=IYUXNWSETECSP Anyway, stinky old oil smell is gone from my garage at least at this time. After head washed, I try to removed stud. Using heat gun to heat up stud 10 minutes, put ice cube to the stud to cooldown to creat gap between stud and head. Jaw lock plier to twist to remove the stud... some of them are easy to take it out, but others are so hard! It took more than 30 minutes to remove hard one. After flashing head and blow water by air compressor, I noticed clogged antifreeze. I don't know what is the best way to clean up this clogg. Any suggestion?

Isn't that radiator for automatic tranny? -
I think it's 9mm conrod. 240Z rods (up to 4/71) had 8mm rod bolts. 240Z rods (5/71-6/81) had 9mm rod bolts. Source data: http://www.zcsd.org/tech-articles/power-quest2.php

Pressurized SandBlaster does not require high CFM for the small spot. You might want to check out this. http://www.harborfreight.com/40-lb-pressurized-abrasive-blaster-68992.html -
Got N42 head over the weekend @ Pink-N-Pull South San Jose. I meet really a nice guy helped me pull out this head. He has Silver '73 240z with Turbo engine in. I really appriciate great Z Community helping out each other. The N42 seems like rebuild before, it's fairly clean when looking at removing valve cover. When I flip to see combustion chamber side, I notice a lot of clogging around water line hole. Especially around no.4 water line is clogged. Last night, I had time to working on removing parts. rocker arms, retainers, valve springs. Put them individual zip-lock bag to store.

After installing SU,engine did not start up easily. Front Carb spits out gas and stole engine. Readin Dastun Garage doc and purchase clear tube at OSH to try to adjust float level. http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/index.htm http://forums.ctzcc.com/viewtopic.php?t=4181&sid=b15c6070a9563fa4173bb07bbd52d213 It's PITA that '72 SU carb is not easy to remove float bowl lid. I have to remove float bowl everytime to open the lid to adjust float level. I don't remember how many time I remove float bowl to adjust float level, it takes almost all day long and finally I got sort of right level of float for both front and back SU Carb. Front SU carb tends to get more fuel than rear SU carb, I swap fuel line to see whether I can balance to fuel level.

Thanks for your advice. I removed them and cut out new gaskets.

Parts I need for 240z Carb upgrade to Triple Weber 45DCOE
tamo3 replied to tamo3's topic in Fuel Delivery
Thanks BluDestiny for your advice. I did so much try & error for the brake parts, I want to make it right especially fuel area which is flammable and become cautious. I will try new fuel pump with SU at first. Does your car 240z or 280z? I thought 240z and 280z has different size of fuel line. Since 280z is fuel injection, that has wider diameter fuel line. 240z has 5/16"(8mm) diameter fuel line that could be the bottle neck for fuel delivery. That's I'm worried about. I'm still look for advice for fuel filter. Thanks, tamo3 -
I plan to upgrade '72 240z SU carb to tripple Weber 45 DCOE over the July 4th weekend. Here is my research data: 240z SU carb car has narrower diameter fuel line compare with 280z fuel inject car. 240z fuel related line diameter is following(correct me if it's wrong) 5/16″ OD (might be 8mm) supply 3/16″ OD return 1/4″ OD vent hard line (the one on the driver’s side) So far what I got: - Weber 45 DCOE tripple Carb with Canon intake - Carter GP4070 Fuel pump - Summit Racing SUM-G1438 Oil Pressure Safety switch And plan to get Summit Racing SUM-800115 Pressure gauge Mr. Gasket 2975 - Mr. Gasket Fuel Pressure Gauge Adapters Holley 12-804 Fuel Pressure Regulator Mechanical Fuel Pump Block off Plate to head LOK-TC-1000U Lokar Throttle Cables Some fuel filter Fuel pump rely Fuel line from factory hard line to Carb from carb to fuel pressure regulator from fuel pressure regulator to factory return line [*]Some fuel filter [*]some an fitting Question is: What fuel filter(s) do I need? I read some instruction I need 100micron fuel filter between fuel tank and fuel pump, 40micorn fuel filter between fuel pump to carb. Do I need rely for fuel pump? Holly FPR manual mentioned relay, but not in carter. What size of fuel line do I need? Holly FPR state 3/8" fuel line, but not in carter. My understanding is factory fuel line is 5/16". I think a lots of 240z owner install Weber/Mikuni 40, 45 carb. I wonder everyone replace entire fuel line. Do I miss something? I would like to prepare all the parts I need within June. I should order now. If you think i miss something I need, let me know! Thanks for looking. tamo3
