  1. Yeah I gave up on the smooth finish I think lol, good news is I put another thin coat of bondo on and it fixed the small part I tried it on. I also took a lot more time sanding. I'll finish the rest on Tuesday and put pics up. I sure don't mind screwing up though because I am learning a lot. I've been a gear head for 25 years and never used bondo before. I totally suck at it but am getting better. Besides, I can always just sand down to where I started originally and start over. Fwiw thanks for all the advice, I love this forum
  2. Decided to dial down compression to 10 to 1, run 1.5 roller rockers, I've read lots of these builds and expect over 400 hp, but I'm really going to build it for torque. It won't see any track time so I need all the power down low
  3. Oh, and I didn't fill the cracks with bondo, I just fiberglassed over them
  4. Well I think I failed miserably :-/ I tried to get it as smooth as possible, and it seemed ok, then I sprayed on some adhesive promoter, then 5 coats of high build primer. Once the primer was on, all the imperfections became painfully visible. Not sure what to do now, more sanding maybe? More bondo? I've never used it before so don't know how thick I can go, or if I have the skills to shape it properly. I also dont want a 200 pound dash...
  5. I remember when this was my thread, screw you guys I'm going home! Lol just kidding . I started the bondo tonight, I'll finish it tomorrow, then pics.
  6. A little progress, and I'm pretty sure I have brain damage from the fumes
  7. I want to see but can't on my iPhone, someone got this on YouTube?
  8. This is what I'm starting with. I'll start filling in the cracks with bondo tonight, and should be able to sand and start fiberglassing tomorrow. I'm just trying to think of anything to add or delete before I start it
  9. Yeah that's a bit spendy for all the extra work it'd take. I'm not too worried about weight. Fg seems pretty easy to work with anyway. I'm inexperienced, but have read lots of projects. More for car stereo stuff but it's all the same
  10. Ok will do. I'm at a standstill with everything else anyway due to money. This is cheap, and will help me practice for more advanced fg fabrication. Like console, hatch area, and door skins
  11. Ive done lots of reading on the other dash projects. That's why I decided to tackle it myself. I just wanted to use the materials I have already instead of buying more. I'll buy the foam if I need to though. I don't have cracks as big as lancevance but they are about a half inch wide. 3 of them above the pods. So will there be a problem with the thick chunk of bondo in there if I glass the entire top half of the dash?
  12. I have cracks in my dash that I was going to try the fix on. I've heard it would probably crack again so I want to try something different. I already widened the gaps a bit to get rid of the rotten foam. My question is, can I put regular bondo in the cracks to even it all out before I glass? I don't suppose I could try a just gap over the cracks with the glass? I can put up pics if needed
  13. 400 to 450, possibly a small shot of nitrous in the future. Are the tanks internal lines too small? Because I was planning on running larger fuel lines up to the engine anyway.
  14. Grrrrr, time to go outside with the laptop, the neighbors have wifi
  15. Is deep cycle not good? I've always been confused about that
  16. If youre talking about what the hole is for, fuel pump wiring maybe? I remember it being passenger side towards front of 'trunk'
  17. I'm also in the market for a trans behind a sbc. It's my understanding though that not all options will line up with the stock shifter hole. I don't really know which
  18. '87 to '92 world class t5 out of a camaro....cheaper but not as strong. Or '94 to '97 t56...pretty spendy but stronger.
  19. Well I don't really want to gamble on one of the aftermarket ones that may be crappy. The guy is still selling the other ones just without the halos. Nobody seemed to like em with the halos I guess. Oh well, I thought they'd be cool
  20. Great idea, then I'll get some faux side pipes, a big hood scoop that's non functional, I'll put on lambo doors, and spinner hub caps to really top it off. Lol just kidding. I kind of want the look of dual exhaust exiting on opposite sides, so time to look up fuel cell threads. Thanks for the help
  21. Ok I'm confused by all the product fluff and all the different opinions of pro painters. I'm really trying to learn and search and read, and read, and read. So I read and now I'm ready for more confusing opinions lol. I can't afford a complete sandblasting or dipping service at this point, but my plan as of now is to por15 the interior and engine bay, and ospho the exterior panels. Prior to etching, epoxy primer, build primer. Will this idea keep the masses happy? I just need to take care or surface rust and be able to paint over it. There's so many differing opinions I'd just like to know if I'm fn it up
  22. Hmmm, well I really want dual exhaust all the way back, just for aesthetics if nothing else. I'm modifying everything else on the car, I spose one more thing couldn't hurt. Lol
