twisted chassis?
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i'm not 100%. both pairs are different brands. i tried to get them to be the same height, but there might be a bit of a difference between brands. i really hope its just chassis flex. i'm not sure where i was going with the first sentence. i'm a little inebriated. -
i just pulled the motor out of my 240z a couple hours ago. afterwards, the chassis no longer touches the passenger side front jack stand. its about an inch or two above it. i looked but couldnt find any evidence of damage. could this mean the chassis is twisted, or is the corner of the car lighter than the others?

I think this is who you're talking about Cannonball. http://www.stainlessheaders.com/customheaders I'd like to get some long tubes made by these guys.

240z fender flares on s13, anyone seen or done it?
iHeartTouge replied to Tran Thach's topic in Body Kits & Paint
i've seen it done thousands of times. pictures are all over Zilvia.net. It looks pretty decent. I'd personally go with overfenders on a S13. -

hayashi 504 mesh lip replacements?
iHeartTouge replied to chris stiles's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i think HRE is european. i would try BBS for replacement lips. i dont know much about multi piece wheels though. you could try a local wheel repair company. i've seen the work a local company here can repair dents and curb rash and make it look completely factory. if you're located in California, I can find a wheel repair company that I've heard does great work. I never used them myself, but I've heard great things. Cant recall their name at the moment. -
Rear LCA pivot bolt
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i mushroomed the crap out of mine that way. i looked at the press at work, and its a 25 ton so i'll be using that tomorrow! hope it can do the job! -
Rear LCA pivot bolt
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
ah, i learned the spindle pins were the part the front hub slides over and bolts to. that explains why i couldnt find anything about rear pivot bolts. thanks. -
i did a little searching and couldnt find anything relating to this. the pivot bolt (as my fsm calls it) holding the RCA to the hub will not budge! i've wacked it with every hammer i could find and soaked it with liquid wrench, and yes i did remove the locking bolt. the fsm says to simply pull it out, yeah right. what has everyone else tried to remove it? i was thinking about using a hydraulic press at work but i'm not sure if that work as its already starting to mushroom, and i dont want to damage it anymore. i wont be using it again though.

'72 240z LS1 swap/Restore
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
yeah hardest part about these cars is funds. i feel like they're rather easy to work on. the best way to learn (for me atleast) is to jump head first in and figure it out. i just got my Wilwood brakes from AZC in the other day and after much deliberation, decided to add their rear Wilwood set up and parking brake caliper to my mods list. i am entirely way too antsy to finish this car! i will have some Toyota 4x4 brakes up for sale soon. -

iHeartTouge replied to rudypoochris's topic in Group Buys
yeah thats how it always is on the front. i have a set of konig rewinds that did the same thing. i heard something about another center cap design that did fit but i didnt bother looking for it. -
i've never had a negative experience dealing with them. they've always kept me up to date with whats going on with my order.

'72 240z LS1 swap/Restore
iHeartTouge replied to iHeartTouge's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Cant get a very good shot with my phone, meh. This single mirror took way too long. I had two grinding stones on my dremel grenade so I had to resort to sanding for those last few millimeters. Its not quite aligned exactly how I need it or completely flush with the fender. In due time. I wasnt paying attention when I was drilling, and the vibrations from said drilling made the mirror slowly sneak towards the edge of the fender. It fell off twice, and slightly chipped the very edge of the glass . Its only noticeable up close though. I'll replace it if the chips irk my nerves enough. I'm not a perfectionist. -

i managed to push the Z into the garage last week and started work on it immediately. test fitted the fiberglass hood and hatch, both fit great! the hood is a little bowed out where it meets the cowl but thats an easy fix. pulled out the dash, steering column, heater core, blower motor, and quarter windows tonight. when i pulled out the dash, a mountain of sand came out from behind it! hmmm. i finally got a weekend off work so i'm gonna try to get as much done as possible this weekend. -

so i havent made much progress with this car since i got it. i havent had any room or time to work on the car yet. i sold the track car less than a month ago so i finally have space in the garage for it. but then it started snowing 8+ inches every weekend and halfway through the week, so that kept me from even pulling it in! but its done snowing for the year, and whats left is still melting so hopefully i'll be able to pull it in soon. i've spent about $14k on parts so far and have the build priced out to about $30k. the car came with next to no interior parts, so i'm going to have to find and price those out too. i have still been collecting parts so i'll just post some pics of what i have for now. so far i've ordered: -fiberglass hood and hatch from johnc at Beta -TechnoToyTuning suspension arms -Stance GR+ Pro coilovers for a S13 -255/40 and 245/40 Federal 595s (will later move on to Advans) -fiberglass front and rear bumpers -HKB steering wheel fromt RHDJapan -Boss hub adapter -JTR stuff listed in first post -JCI stuff listed in first post -fender mirrors -fender flares -Rota RB-R's -weld in camber plates -and a TON of misc interior and engine parts and just for fun, here i am with my black 280z at a local Z Car Show (lower right corner). you can see the tip of Eiji's (Datsun Spirit) gnose in the upper right. -
Has anyone ever heard of "Datsun Spirit" in VA?
iHeartTouge replied to T-Bone028's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
i bought my fender mirrors from him. nice guy. i was having a lot of problems with paypal for some reason and he was very patient and worked with me through the situation. i'd definitely buy from him again. i got to see his Z in person at the 2007 Ztoberfest event, love it! -

Just finished s13 coilovers into s30
iHeartTouge replied to jmai86's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
^ Very interested in this. I was actually planning to buy some S13 Stance AL+'s this week to put on the 240z. I had the GR+'s on my S13 and couldnt have been happier with them. Glad to see they're doing something for our Z's. I had emailed them around this time last year asking about if they planned on doing anything for S30's but never got a reply. -
do not do it. its an unnecessary modification that will end up looking terrible and you would have wasted your money.

iHeartTouge replied to Kris.Is.Awesome's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
forgot to give you this link on vad, http://www.datsunspirit.com/index.html . he's located somewhere in NoVa and i'm sure you'll recognize his car. cool guy, helped me out a lot and got me my fender mirrors real fast. good luck with the Z -
seems to be a lot of spammer bots making their rounds. a small local forum im a on moderator has been overrun. there would be a ridiculous amount of threads i need to delete each day, and they would just grow. others mods gave up as time went on. then we just gave up and abandoned the entire forum, letting members rely on other regional/statewide forums.
