  1. I've been running the ford fan on everything i drive. Its not the taurus fa, though, its from a smaller ford, not the escort, i forget the name, but its got an angle formed into one of the lower corners of the shroud. I ran this with a fan controller from autozone. Its been working well for me here in philly, the temps here rarely hit 95+(with the exception of this summer). The issues i've had relate to the relays used. One 30 amp relay wont last long, to fix this i ran two and at one point 3 in parallel. A friend of mine ran a hefty solenoid, but that eventually failed too. Now i'm running one relay on the low circuit with a 160 degree t-stat. No issues yet. These things create a pretty sizeable current spike, that seems to be what was killing the relays.
  2. Drove her to work for the first time (legally) today. Found out she leaks through the windshield, and runs a tad lean on slight accel. Otherwise i'm pretty pleased. Gonna fish out those z32 seats from my basement later, and tune the afm further.
  3. Update; finally got her registered last night, took her home on the interstate. Mmmm... boosting is so nice. In my search for a suitable muffler i came across this: http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/Exhaust/Heartthrob-Glasspack-Muffler Ordered a 15" long muffler body in 2.5" diameter last night. I think it should do the trick.
  4. Polar Moment of Inertia. In lay terms, the resistance to torsion. In a racecar, referring to the cars resistance to drivers steering inputs. The higher the pmoi, the more the tendency to resist changing direction. The lower the pmoi, the easier it is to change direction, be it from steering input or otherwise, hence the comment about inherent destabilization.
  5. Decided to tempt fate. Just feels like its losing power a bit around 6k, clutch is hanging in there though Anyone got an hx35?
  6. Thats the plan, but this car isnt yet registered, so i take it out very sparingly, and the distance from one end of the complex to the next makes it so i'm just hitting ~2.8k on the tach in third before i have to hit the brakes.
  7. Hahahahaha! This made my night. This, and the strip club. Maybe more the latter. But WTH!
  8. Drove the zx around the garage complex. Wondering if i'm breaking one wheel loose in second, or if it's my clutch. Another flogging should reveal the culprit.
  9. Ahh i got it now. Had to go over it a few times. Wow, thats very clever. Looking forward to emulating this.
  10. Hmmm. The patent there lays out some real good info. Been reading up a lil bit on the head cooling threads, i think didier has this in the works for his setup? I could see that translating well into an l-series, however, it seems to make more sense in my mind to vent the head on the manifold side, and feed into the opposing side. But what diameter orifice would offer the best outlet for vapor, and not be a shunt for the coolant? Are there suitable areas on the opposite side to tap into Are those thermostats in that picture, pmc? Looks like they're staggered to fit the core plug holes?
  11. Yessir they're by far the easiest things to find around our shop. Now if i could just find that 12mm... I've been coming to the conclusion that I need a muffler. Maybe it's because I haven't spent much time driving it (~40 miles since the rebuild, ~10 using this exhaust), but I could do without some of the harsher tones, especially in the low end. Pulling off from red lights, stop signs, etc. I live in the part of philly you could go without visiting, ever, hence noise isn't an issue, but I foresee it becoming mentally straining somewhat making daily rounds in this, as is the intended use. Now for copious searching...
  12. I feel like i should be kicking myself for tossing my bumper... oh well, i can try the back, if the mounts aren't already rusted through.
  13. http://s1081.photobucket.com/albums/j350/rb30zk/z%20stuff/ Gotta look through it for the latest exhaust pics. Beer bottle is for scale.
  14. I'm loading this through my phone, and i'm not sure if they need to be resized. Looking at it tells me it does.
  15. Will post pics later tonight. I have one of the thing off the car and a close up of the fender with it on, i gotta take more when i get back to the shop.
  16. What did those piston run you, if you dont mind me asking?
  17. Thanks. As for the fumes, alls good there. The exhaust came about in part because the stock one leaked at the end of the elbow, and i got alota fumes into the cabin then, so i butchered a muffler that was laying around the shop , one of those transverse mounted ones with two tips, and built this one using the stock turbo/elbow flange. Put two bungs in it so i could add a wideband, and thats all she wrote. I was then able to dial in the afr's to where i wanted. No more fumes in the car, and the trans tunnel doesn't get half as hot.
  18. Taken from inside a friends mk3 supra. On our way back from our annual meet in philly. Enjoy.
  19. Hmmm i did read a few posts of people having sh@tty connections at the ecu. I went ahead and cleaned and greased the connectors there.
  20. ^+1. I wouldn't waste the time and money on .2 liters.
