  1. If you end up buying new panels buy them from here: http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/html/table_of_contents.htm I heard that black dragon gets them from them. I will have to do what you are doing in the future but I dont have the funds quite yet.
  2. Don't question it just do it! I fully support the purchase of a BRZ by anyone.
  3. Well, I got my Z for $400. It didn't run and didn't have brakes but had everything to run. I put a couple hundred into it and got it to run and stop. However, I probably have a lot more rust than the Z your looking at and I had to throw out all my carpets because they were really bad. One of the perks of living in New England I suppose. I would definitely take a close look at it for rust and such and see if you can't get the engine and trans along with it.
  4. That looks great and sounds like an awesome idea. Too bad there aren't too many z's in the junkyards in New England. I would love to do something like that to my 280z seeing as the same areas on mine are still kinda mangled from the tree the Z fell on :/

    Sad day

sorry to hear what happened. I had similar damage when my z fell off a small cliff and a tree almost went through the hatch. If the homemade bumper the previous owner put on not been there she would have been a goner. I know yours might have suffered more than just body damage but I hope you can work through it. Good luck!
  6. Anyone have a closer pic or know how the tabs that hold the bottom of the trim in place work? you can kind of see them in this picture but I can't tell how they hold it.
  7. has anyone done matte blue? I saw a matte blue M3 in Germany and it was pretty sexy.
  8. Nice. I did the same thing only with much less expensive taillights haha. I got the lights and series 1 hatch from a few mechanics here in Boston for really cheap. Now all I need are 240z front turn signals and the transformation will be complete! at least for the outside anyway.
  9. So I've been trying to restore my Z to road worthy condition this past year and being a college kid doesn't leave much extra cash for some of the more expensive things. I've been looking for mirrors lately but the awesome fender mirrors I want are $200+. Being a fairly crafty person I like to make my own stuff when I can and mirrors and louvers seem like they would be on the easier side and hopefully cheaper. If anyone has done anything like this I would love to know. And if anyone has any detail pics of how the mirrors and louvers work that would be great. preferably this type:
  10. I'm looking for any pair of fender mirrors. I'd be interested in anything. I would have bought these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/fender-mirrors-datsun-240z-260z-280z-toyota-ta22-te27-/140887278524?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20cd8943bc&vxp=mtr But I don't really want to pay $40 do ship them. If you have anything let me know. Thanks
  11. Awesome Z! What kind of headlights do you have?
  12. That could be it. The entire linkage setup seems to be worn down so I'd like to replace it but I'm not sure where to get it. Is there a place to get springs for Z's or can I go to the hardware store and get something as close as possible? I'm also thinking about doing the throttle cable conversion as I've heard its relatively easy.
  13. I have a 75 280z and the pedal doesn't like to return lower than 1500. It was worse before but after lubricating all the joints between the pedal and the engine its gotten much better but not perfect. after inspecting I found that the spring that pushes the pedal back is pretty weak. Anyone know where I can find one?
  14. Put my new alternator in last night in 14 degree weather. Unfortunately all the effort didn't solve my charging issues but it was still satisfying getting it done.
  15. yay NH. Gotta start getting the Z ready now or it might not make it haha
  16. Oh ok, I understand now. I did not account for that when I cut out the holes.
  17. As of right now I've only cut out the parts to make the lights fit. nothing is mounted yet and neither of the old reverse lights are welded shut. I'm still looking into how to mount the bottoms of the trim panels as well so I still have a bit of work. Have any pics of where to flange it?
  18. Nice! It looks good, I'm excited to see those rims on it. I'm in school in Boston and can only work on my 75 280z on the weekends since it's up in NH. Hurray for slow, cold NE builds haha.
  19. They were all in my apartment in Boston. Right now I just have the differentials and rear suspension sitting in my room haha. Everything else went up to NH. I was able to shift through 4 gears and reverse on one transmission but the other doesn't have anything at all sticking out of it to shift with. So I am unable to "pretend" shift. I'll try to get a better pic next time i'm up there But the one in question is the darker one in the back.
  20. Some Japanese tools to work on my Japanese car These pictures aren't the greatest quality but heres most of what I have to work with as far as parts. Theres a few spares but I still gotta figure out what I can use on my car.
  21. Nice, the 3 speed must have been interesting. How was the work to change out the transmission? I really gotta figure out if I have the 5 speed or not. One doesn't have a shifter on it and I can't tell just by looking at it.
  22. I actually got two transmissions from the same guy I got the engine from and one of them is supposedly a 5 speed but I have yet to confirm. Thanks for the offer on the bumpers but I just bought a 240z rear bumper from someone else on the forum. I'm not a fan of the larger bumpers either haha. I want to swap to the 240z front bumper and airdam when i get the chance to as well. Then I think the transformation to a 240z will be complete haha.
  23. Yeah it's nice having lots of tools to work with. My only problem is getting the Z in the garage. My friend's dad is constantly working on new projects so the garage has been full, and from the looks of it will stay full all winter. unfortunately for me that means working on the car outside. Not the most pleasant thing to do in New England during the winter haha. I can only go up there on the weekends though so I usually just tough out two days of cold and its not too bad. I really wanted to do a V8 swap on mine until I got these parts. If I hadn't got this 240z engine and exhaust I probably would have bought a V8 in the future. But I'm hoping this will be more cost effective and just as fun. Good luck on your build!
  24. It definitely did. I had your pictures up on my computer while I was doing it haha. Just gotta drill the holes and figure out how to attach the bottoms of the trip panels.
