  1. OK - I'm currently running 225/50-16's on all four corners. What is the widest tire I can run on all four corners? A 245 width can be fit in the rear without any suspension modifications. The question is really - what's the widest that can be fit on the front with the coil-overs - AND - without flaring.
  2. I just used a 1/4-20 bolt & nut and tightened them up through the hole. That has worked for me for about 4 years now. I keep telling myself I should go by a wrecking yard and pry 2 or 3 out of some wrecks.
  3. Zrossa - That can be fixed by reviving the long hood look in styling and doing what Chrysler did 40 years ago - the slant six - a 270 ci (4.5 L) motor cocked over 30° off vertical. One of the best motors they ever built.
  4. Maybe email the guy that owns the car and ask him where he got it? Zcar parts would probably forward to him if it's not on their website.
  5. Mike - Tell that to the guy that stuffed an LT-1 into a Fiero!!
  6. OK - from what I can tell basically it's just modifying what is already there with a set of springs that are smaller in outside diameter. The design/arrangement is the same - just that the spings take up less horizontal space allowing more room toward the center of the car to run wider wheel/tire combinations. Correct?
  7. YOu know - this string is a good example why folks down in Texas wear high top boots. It's too keep all the bulls**t off the socks! This is beginning to sound like the press stuff before a Mohammed Ali fight. So when does the posturing and postulating stop and the tires smoke?
  8. Latest rumor is that Nissan is planning a 450Z. Same car but using the Infinity 4.5 liter V-8 with around 400 HP. Around 2005.
  9. Keep the faith. The latest rumor is that Nismo is planning a version using the Infinity 4.5 liter V-8 with around 400 HP.
  10. Cyrus, Do you happen to have any photos of your wiring harness work? I'd love to see what you have done with the two harness's. If you want, I'll put some feelers out here in Texas to see if anyone has one.I'm still not at a point where there is anything worthwhile to post on my conversion. Started cutting some L28 related mounts out last week but nothing of significance has happened yet. I'll send photos when I'm able to get something useful.
  11. The toyota calipers were designed around the same parameters as the Z. They will work on any vented rotor that is a stock size replacement for the Gen 1 front rotors. IE: If the rotor will work with the Gen 1 calipers - it will work with the '79-83 Toyota 4x4 truck calipers.
  12. I have no clue what is actually being discussed when coiloovers are brought up vs the standard strut/spring combination. 1) Does anyone have a photo that shows the two suspensions? 2) Does anyone have a source(s) for good, progressive rate systems that would function well for a daily driver? 3) On a 280Z - what would be largest tire allowable with 16" wheels without tubbing? front & rear? Thanks
  13. Hey Davy - I've got a copy of "Fast & Furious". Let you have it for a really good brother-in-law deal. I can tell it must be one of your favorites.
  14. When I think of a Mopar 383 I think of a truck engine. Lot's of torque and Hp but it doesn't rev. My 340 'Cuda ate 383's for breakfast, luch & dinner - and it didn't even have a six-pack.
  15. I got my MBA through Syracuse University. Required 57 semester hours to complete. Took me 3.5 years. 'Course I was working full time, attending Navy Reserve drills, and teaching in my church at the time besides having a family with two small boys.
  16. Cyrus, Check the search engines on how to measure the length. Everyone seems to be mounting their engines just a little bit differently so you'll need to measure your specific installation. I think someone got into it a bit on the 105 message long string you started a few weeks ago. I haven't gotten that far so can't help yet. Maybe in about a month I'll know something.
  17. Amazing how easy it is to be gracious when you win - against a truck!? Too bad he couldn't have carried it over when picked on by someone his own size. Obviously too much of his self-worth is tied up in his car. It's not the car that makes the driver.
  18. I guess that makes me a sinner too Mike.
  19. I parked next to a touring model with 6-spd. yesterday morning at the local Albertson's. It was silver with black leather interior. It was OK - color combination was too conservative so car really didn't grab me. I'll take a hybrid 350Z anytime.
  20. I guess same problem would occur on the passenger side too. Another question - on the drivers side exhaust - If the header had come down a little farther aft would that have helped any? I'm trying to follow your suggestion to go with headers vs. the stock exhaust manifolds. If I remember right a center dump would be pretty much OK on the passenger side but things would work a little better if moved back on the drivers side. Ok - I've got this figured out - just park your car at my place for about a month so every time I have a brain fart I can go out and figure it out.
  21. Tomohawk Z, Actor in a lot of B movies and a few A-.
  22. Lone, From what I remember last Thursday the Datsun mounts pretty much excluded being able to normally mount the AC compressor in a low position. Did you consider mounting it high on the driver's side? Is there a problem with that area? I forgot to ask about it until after you'd gone.
  23. Had a good 12 hour period this past weekend. Bought the movie Fast & furious for $5 - Ok flick with lots of discrepancies but a few entertaining racing scenes and then parked next to a new 350Z the next morning at the local Albertsons. It was the touring model with the 6-spd in Silver & black.
  24. When I lived in Winchester, VA I got three tickets in 6 months for various things. Felt like a criminal. That doubled the total number of tickets I've gotten in 40 years of driving. Haven't had one that stuck since I left there 23 years ago.
