  1. I got some new rear tires as my old ones were shot. I fugured there was only one thing to do before I threw the old ones away. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/a7e36177-e435-49ac-825f-9971008f7c14.htm
  2. What happens at 4500? Could be timing, mechanical advance not working, could be fuel, need more info on the setup and what is happening. Is it only under load that it limits?
  3. That would be sweet, keep in mind, I still have the tunnel ram with the 2 450's just sitting in the corner waiting for it's turn.
  4. Engine is working good, I wish that RX7 wouldn't have been so load, I wanted to hear mine at WOT. New combo is much better (seat of pants) than the old one. Could still benifit from a Victor JR type intake and freer flowing exhaust. It's so dang hot or wet in Houston right now, that I haven't been driving it much.
  5. Thanks Jon, don't worry, I can't wait to go back. Normally that track is really good. LT280Z, I posted in the motorsports/events area that I was going. I got no replies.
  6. Finally went to the 1/8 mile to learn how to launch on street slicks but it was a fiasco. It rained right when we got there. 3 hours later, they let us on the track, was not very tacky at all. Only got 3 passes in and was there for 5 hours. Best 60' was 1.85 which is an indicator of how slick the track was. I have done a 1.80 on the same track with my skinny street tires. Didn't really learn anything but still better than sitting on the couch. Here's a clip of me against the loadest RX7 on the planet. My car hooked for about 2 feet then spun the rest of the way thru first gear. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/d514e421-3a24-4145-8ae9-996e008a5697.htm
  7. I'd say it all depends on what is in the V8 car. You can spend $1300 real quick getting a trans, headers, exhaust, custom driveshaft, motor mounts, tranny crossmember, etc. If those parts are decent then you could almost call the motor free. All depends on the quality of the swap. Jeff
  8. I got about 4000 miles out of my last one. Of course dropping that bolt into the intake may have taken it's toll. Sorry, couldn't help it. Good luck getting that kind of answer on a performance based site. I expect to get at least 100,000 out of a daily driver without needing a rebuild. As long as you don't do anything foolish, should be able to get a few re-builds out of any 350 block.
  9. No you don't, it wasn't cheap! Oops, we are hijacking this thread. Sorry.
  10. I finally had G-force build me a T5 and yes, this one is a WC. I don't think a stock WC is any stronger than a non WC, but nobody has upgrade parts for a non WC. I just kept ripping the teeth off of third gear and the cluster gear with the stock stuff.
  11. I had a local expert re-build my old non w/c camaro T5 and he had me run Royal Purple Syncromax in it. Worked great until I overpowerd third gear!

    hickl's cv adapters

    cv adapters
  13. I kind of feel stupid about this but here it goes. I got a set of ZX cv joints a few years ago. I designed my own adapters (which I am very proud of and will share the details when I get some time) and finall did the swap on one side. I get it all together and find that the outer cv joint has a fair amount of slack in it. Have I just wasted a bunch of work around a junk set of cv's? I drove it around the block and didn't feel anything odd but will slack cuase it to fail the first time I launch it hard? If they are junk, anybody got a set for sale? Thanks Jeff
  14. So your a Texan now Cozy? Drive that thing to Houston and let's go have some fun! Jeff
  15. nevermind, I found it. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113490&highlight=chain
  16. Help me out guys, a while back someone posted about 5 tricks to make a z get out of the hole (and hopefully lift the front wheels). Does anyone remember who posted it or better yet, link me to the thread? I've been searching and can't find it. thanks Jeff
  17. thanks, nobody has them in stock so I have to order them. I'll take mine apart and figure it out, I was trying to get them on order yesterday but no big deal. Thanks Jeff
  18. I've just recently replace the other, guess I should have done both then. Thanks for the idea though, anyone else know?
  19. I am trying to order a rear brake cylinder and the auto parts guy is asking if I need the 11/16 dia or 13/16 dia. The car is at home so I can't check. Does anybody know what would be standard on my 76'? thanks

    wheel spacers

I have 1/4" thick ones in there now with room to spare.

    wheel spacers

I have done no more than bolt the wheels on. I need to do something as those tires are pretty wide. I may end up going with a narrower tire.

    wheel spacers

OK, I picked up some 8" wide draglites with a 5" offset. They came with some 11.5 wide cheater slicks. Only problem is I have to run a 1/4 spacer to keep them from rubbing on the strut tower. I will get longer wheel studs. This being said, is there a real safety issue with running wheel spacers if eveything is done right? Thanks Jeff
  23. I landed a set of drag lites with some 11.5 wide et streets on the back and runners on the front. Hopefully this thing will finally launch. Was overcast and rainey so lighting is poor in the pics. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=14994&cat=500
